It does get a bit warm during load, but I never experienced it to be uncomfortably hot. If anything, the hinge part and the rear exhaust vents were the parts that became uncomfortably hot that I can't bag it up immediately after using.
Purchased this from Micro Center on clearance last week for $1899.00 It was the display model which means the battery was being charged for two months which means I will probably have to replace the battery. I am loving this laptop but trying to decide if I should keep it as I have 4 days to return it for a full refund.
Thinking of getting this but 16gb ram and rtx 4070 for $1700. Is it worth it? I can’t decide this legion 7 pro or the alienware m16 r1 (same specs same price in my country)
Good review! I stopped at the IPS display. That's a deal breaker for me. I'm too spoiled by the mini LED of my 16" M1 Pro. Looking at the new Zephyrus G16 OLED baby!
UPDATE: My older comment was ignorant. It depends what one needs the laptop for. If it's exclusively for content creation, then ya: go for the OLED or mini-LED. However, if you want a device for content consumption and gaming that's competitively priced, then the 2560X1600 IPS panels Lenovo slaps on these babies are fine. If content creation is your thing and you're a weekend gamer, then Lenovo's 3.2K variant IPS panel should do the trick. These legion laptops are decent. I picked up the Slim 7i 8th Gen (regular i9, 4070) and I'm pleased with it. If something sucks, it's the speakers and, of course, the battery--not the display.
@@deon9416 good bang for the buck specially if you are okay with FHD gaming. but don't expect to run it at 1440p monitor / QHD, you will be disappointed.
at 18:11 you talk about how its a pro laptop, and that it doesn't imply that its for work and games, does this mean it probably wont be suitable at a university level of schoolwork in a software engineering degree?
For Software Engineering applications I can still recommend it, since that branch of pro uses mainly takes advantage of high CPU and RAM performance. Any pro application that needs display-heavy work, I can't recommend it.
I'm getting a pro 7i 4090 next week. I had a Lenovo all the way through college, it was the best laptop I've ever had. I messed up getting an HP Omen a few years back, it has been but trouble, I've had to send it off for repairs twice, and it still has issues. It's Lenovo from here on out, for me.
@babayaga4320 BH photo have the legion 7i pro 4090 model on sale for $2499. I just brought one. It’s the 2023 model but there’s not much different from 2024 model.

@@yu-i7476 I don't think that's possible, LCD screens and Mini-LED screens have different dimensions and data + power ribbons and headers, so they're generally not interchangeable on laptop units, unless the manufacturer makes it so.
It's "Pro" as in it packs enough power for a professional gamer. NOT a creative professional. Sustainability and green area just euphemisms for "cheap". The worst type of recycled material being recycled plastic/polymer, which is especially evident on the low durability all the new phone cases have. This all falls in line with lenovo's attempt at reducing the price of the laptop to counter inflation. It is clearly a cheaper and inferior product compared to its past iteration, but many people focus more on price and specs. They did not skimp on the cooling or use "sustainable" parts, thank God. Intel or amd?
the intel model you got should have thunderbolt 4, its the AMD model that lack the thunderbolt 4 port.....

Does the keyboard run hot under load? I read some reviews that the pro 7i runs hot comparatively. 100C in some.

It does run hot but not 100C, I measured once and it was about 60C towards the right side. That’s why I use an external keyboard.
about 80 degrees CPU and 65 to 72 GPU on my end. I did do some undervolting on CPU
@4:56. That IS a thunderbolt port. The Legion pro 5i doesn’t though.

it's funny to have a headphone jack 3.5 mm on the right side, how is it possible to use a mouse then!!?
