You guys should make video on differences from error and heresy. It would be a blessing to me and the body. So that brothers don’t get called false prophets lol a teaching on core essentials would be awesome. Thank y’all!

The Bible says "Despise not prophesying." I used to think that I knew what that meant, but now I'm not sure. We are not supposed to add to the Bible. Doesn't prophesying (per: modern prophesying---after the Apostle John died.) Doesn't that kind of prophesying add to the Bible?? Could someone explain this to me?? Maybe I missed it in the message.

Prophesy would add to the Bible only if you think everything God has ever inpired must be included in the Bible. A more flexible way would be to take the canon of Scripture that forms the Bible and use it as a canon (=meassuring stick) to evaluate and judge everything else by.

I think if someone corners me in Church and says, "I have a word for you" I will tell them, "KEEP IT."

Would you give the details about the "word" given regarding toilet paper. Sincerely interested. Also could you give all the details from the twin towers dream These are both good examples that could be helpful in teaching us how to approach prophecy and interpretation. Additionally I was wondering if you, or anyone, has heard of prophecy by memory, that is coming to know something that will take place, but that thing becomes known by deja vu. So a memory that you WILL come to have occurs before the events that cause the memory.

9:21 Okay, now you've gone completely loony. You literally just said that there is no evidence of the bible being truthful other than what is said in the bible, and therefore using only evidence in the the bible can be used and that evidence proves the bible to be true.
What kind of nonsense circular logic is that? We have archeology, geology, science in general which proves much of what the bible says is not true.

    Ezekiel 22:23-31
    King James Version
23 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
24 Son of man, say unto her, Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon in the day of indignation.
25 There is a conspiracy of her prophets in the midst thereof, like a roaring lion ravening the prey; they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made her many widows in the midst thereof.
26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
27 Her princes in the midst thereof are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.
28 And her prophets have daubed them with untempered morter, seeing vanity, and divining lies unto them, saying, Thus saith the Lord God, when the Lord hath not spoken.
29 The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
31 Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God.

Amazing, a new listener here and as a pastor in the charasatic movement i am very happy with the level of balance, wisdom, honesty and even the suggested principals and sriptural guidelines that were shared here. Would love to see Michael Brown and Michael Heiser in an interiew together. Subscribed!

wait, wait, wait... So now I'm at 5:21. Dude just explained how you can find the factual information to back his statements at his website. No mention of conducting independent research, he can only prove his points through information only he provides. Some of that information is free, but the "important" part requires a paid subscription to access.
An I the only one who sees a bit of a problem here, perhaps a conflict of interest? You love your god and want to spread the message, but only spread it to people who pay you. One part of that sentence doesn't really jive with the other part of that sentence. It doesn't really work for thoughtful people to hear such contradictory statements, or to see you express them and keep a straight face as you hornswaggle out of their hard earned money they need to provide education for... OH!!! That's why! You don't want your congregation to have money for their children's education. If that were to happen, those children might grow up and realize how ridiculous this story sounds.

I love this channel and I really like Dr. Brown but I'm sincerely struggling here. It seems likely to me that the correct interpretation of scripture is that prophecy does still continue but for the life of me I can't understand why charismatics don't see the massive contradiction that they just gloss over when they try to say there's no conflict between holding the Bible up as God's authoritative word but not modern-day prophecy. At around the 9-minute mark Dr Brown says that if he receives a prophetic command from the Lord for someone else that it is not binding on the Christian that that prophetic word is for. Something is either God's command or it is not. How could it be not binding? If it's really God's command then we must obey and if it's not God's command how dare a Christian say that it is by claiming its prophetic?I would really appreciate if somebody could direct me toward a resource where this question gets adequately addressed. I love the hosts of the show but I was hugely disappointed that there was no pushback on such a shallow take on a massively important issue. Haven't finished watching yet hopefully they'll provide more substance because everything I've found so far has just been incredibly weak.

Also, in my former Church, it seemed like almost everyone (except me), was supposedly "set aside" to be a "prophet." The people who "weren't" prophets, were supposed to listen to people who "were" prophets without question. I would say that out of every 10 personal prophesies I got, 8 of them were wrong. What can you say about this?? Most of this happened over 40 years ago (during the "Jesus Movement."), but some of the excesses are still etched in my brain

Oh, okay, I think I understand... Some prophecies are false, others are true. You'll be happy to share which are real or fake with anyone who gives you money.
What a horrible person! If I knew something bad were about to happen, I would tell you, I wouldn't make sharing such information contingent on you giving me money first.

It seemed like a lot of those "prophets" were prophesying out of their own emotions and what they were saying was not of God at all. One of the ladies at the Church had inoperable cancer. I can't count the number of times that people prophesied that she would be (physically) healed, but she died. I was a baby Christian at the time, and this really affected me in a bad way, as she was a friend of mine. The Church never did address this stuff.

It got to the point where I asked the Lord: "Please (unless it's an absolute emergency) just talk to me out of the Bible or talk to me in my own thoughts."

as one that was saved from a religious cult(Mormonism) 20 years ago I appreciate Christians that, hold to the word, and question and test, since being saved I was snared a few years in the bethel sister churches , and experienced the Kool-Aid . You dont know you have Kool-Aid until you repent and get your salt back , I never thought I would be the one because of coming out of a cult. I love this program, as these young men. have not sold out to jezebel looking for fame like those that get taken by sorcery (so many), the WORD of GOD is so important an dis our safety boundaries, and holding to the WORD , and test all the roots of anyone you hear from.
