This is by far the most simplest explanation of alpha beta pruning. I've watched around 10 videos and re-read multiple lecture slides and lots of online material but this is easily the best! So clear, thank you so much!
Thanks for posting this. I'm currently taking an AI class and this explanation was the clearest I could find. I especially liked your decision to explain when (at min or max nodes) alpha and beta are updated.
This straight to a point video. Loved it. The explanation is like an algorithm, just use it and get the answer. So simple. I was not understanding alphabeta pruning taught by my lecturer.
My exam is tomorrow and I missed this concept in class because of some workshop and this saved me!!, you explained the problem in an easy and understandable manner, thank you..
@@crackconcepts thanks!,I had two exams today,in morning session the question on alpha beta pruning was easy and good but in the afternoon session it's was a little bit tricky..😄
Thank you very much for sharing! Your explain is much better than my professor. It is very helpful for me to understand Alpha-beta pruning. I think the solution is not completely finished: In the third level(bottom is the first level), right side, alpha(8, 7)=8. It is no problem. In the fourth level, right side, beta(11, 8)=8, Instead of 11. In the fifth level, the root, alpha(7, 8)=8. Not 7.
This is perhaps the best Alpha Beta pruning explanation. Every single time when I forget the concept of A-B pruning, I refer to this video. Thank you so much!

but in the end shouldn't you update the a,b values at the top as the recursion ends in the right most branch ? And also , shouldn't you give the trace / branch of the tree which gave the optimum max value (a -value) at the top MAXimizing branch ? (i am confused)
th-cam.com/video/OP-lkZo6fDY/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=IITDelhiJuly2018 watch from 7:35 see this then tell which is the best for alpha beta pruning. thanx sis btw
Very well explained. We go on left most search or direction to traverse this tree since the Alpha Beta pruning concept follows Depth First Search (DFS).
Thank you very much! I am preparing for my final test, and you are the only one who helped me understand how to implement the Alpha-Beta Pruning Algorithm.
Just had a small doubt regarding the sum. In the last part when aplha = 8 and beta = 7 we will also compare these values back to the root node right? So it will go back and check for max node: a= 8(will remain 8) and b=(11) then again for minimum it will compare values and beta will be changed from 11 to 8: b=8 and a=7. Then again for max node(root node) alpha will be changed from 7 to 8 and b=infinity.... Is this correct?
