4 mm crochet hook.

sp. - space, st. - stitch, ch - chain, sl st. - slip stitch, sc - single crochet, dc - double crochet, hdc - half double crochet, hdc3 puff - 3 half double crochet puff stitch (3 half double crochet closed together),

Sure, you can youse any type of yarn. However, the best option for this kind of project would be cotton, acrylic or cotton acrylic blend yarn.
