- A social critic in the state, Mr. Abia Onyike, who did not condemn the airport said, David Umahi, recklessly spent the state’s resources on elephant projects that did not benefit the majority of the people, alleging that the former governor claimed he spent N47 billion on the airport but the actual expenditure was about N12 billion. “So, Umahi should account for the remaining money. He should resign as Minister and testify on what he used the remaining money to do,” Onyike said.

I have condemned the idea of this airport right from inception. This project is not only a misplaced priority but a foolish way to waste money. That airport is simply not viable.

Cosmas, you are calling our former governor stupid, are you aware that he was the person who was awarded the contract that lead to the face-lift of Enugu airport . Remember it is named Akanu ibiam airport. Who hails from his place. You don't like flyover in Ebonyi state, but it is good in Lagos, Abuja. You like the NNPC flyover in Enugu. Since you don't like airport and flyovers, any day you enter airport or climb any flyover that day will be your end in Jesus name.

It is not a misplaced priority anything. I'm proud of Ebonyi State. The infrastructural landscape of Ebonyi is best in Southeast and South South. Mark my word. So many of us will soon relocate to Ebonyi because of its topnotch beauty. Ebonyi people should continue doing what they are doing, what they are doing is wisdom. Build interconnected squared road networks in such a way that houses can be numbered, enhancing the free movements of E-hailing transport services.
Those discriminating ebonyi state airport are those who don't like ebonyi state and because God has started doing something great in the state they are now envying the state but I think God who is not a man because I know his going to do things that are greater than this in the state very soon.
There is nothing wrong with Ebonyi having airport. Having an airport does not stop the government from providing good roads, health, education and other facilities.

Did you know how much that was used in building that airport, that can be used in building other infrastructures like good roads health, and education but one man siphoned that money, in view that he built an airport, i don't know how many people that lands there every month not even in a day or weeks Ebonyi people should open their eyes this is 24th century peace

the Ebonyi airport is not a waste. they should ensure they fix all the failing spots within the terminal before opening it to the public. i can see part of the ceiling has fallen through, and the flooring needs a good cleaning too.
There was a period in Igboland when the only operational airport was a converted stretch of roadway in Uli. There was then only intermittent night flights with unreliable lightnings. Today, there are purposely built, modern and very functional airports in Enugu, Port Harcourt, Owerri, Asaba, Umueri, Abakaliki and hopefully one more in Abia. These airports are strategic investments and may not be making money now, but will do so long-term. Great for Igboland.
