She recalls her time as Jimi Hendrix's girlfriend including the occasion they argued over mashed potatoes which inspired the rock legend to write The Wind Cries Mary.

Hendrix was absolutely accurate...She’s beautiful! shes held her beauty up incredibly well.
Yes Kathy to this day, is very beautiful....
Is u hitting on a grandma
@@robertgenier3037 Maybe he's a grandpa?!😁
ITS NO WONDER JIMI HIT ON HER. WHAT A DELIGHTFUL PERSONALITY SHE HAS. I WISH KATHY COULD HAVE KEPT JIMI AWAY FROM THOSE PARASITES.
you got a w-e too?>?
I got to see him twice.
Like everyone, I've heard most (not The Wind Cries Mary story. That was great!) of the stories but hearing about his passing again still hits us with a profound sense of loss. Thanks for this post.
Must be real cool to tell your grandkids that you were the coolest rockstar of the 60 and 70s girlfriend
i would be embrased that my grandmother did it with a black for fame she is nothing but a
"Well...Jimmy Hendrix wrote a song about me..." Imagine that.
If Jimi had said: 'I don't like it either, Kathy, and I'm going back to England with you', he'd most likely be alive today.
Thank You Kathy Etchingham, and the UK for adopting Jimi Hendrix and keeping his life and music alive!
Awwwwwwwwwwwww a lover's quarrel, they really did love each other a lot, but he did tell her he wasn't a one woman man, 3 years, that was along time, i do think, had he lived he would have coaxed her to break off her engagement with the Doctor she was engaged to.. Jimi was heart broken deep down, imo, i think besides his Strat and His Black Beauty, and his Flying V, Kathy was his next true love, and had he lived, i think he would have married her, he was making a lot of big changes in his life.. Rip Jimi, You are truly, truly missed..
Andrew Ongais
Paulaz rite.
Ur wrong
@@Einnor084 Why am i wrong, Ron Beck, i knew Jimi, i didn't know his whole life's history, but i knew enough to know basically, he was a good man..... So no, i'm not wrong!
@Andrew Ongais Hey TROLL, I know what a muse is, were you there when Jimi was alive?
Paula Blissett
Ur only wrong, 4 never tellin me da story u said u had, BUTT wouldn't share n public.
Othawise..... look again Paula.
@@Einnor084 OK, SEE THAT PIC? That's me and Jimi in Feb. 1968 after his concert in Chicago
.... I finally put it up.....
Getting married behind his back put him on a downward path. Had he managed to hang on to her it would have done him good, she was level headed and normal, too many around him were the opposite, like airhead Monika.
Read her book, "Through Gypsy Eyes"!
You can still see the hurt in her. What could have been if had live
Now,This is something! Wind Criies Mary!!!
+PULSEJETVALVE You would love her book, she smashed the dish with mashed tatties, and didnt come back the whole night so jimi wrote "A broom is drearily sweeping.. the broken pieces of yosterdays life.. somewhere a queen is weeping.. a king has no wife"
@@thedude4795 You are right..
^ ^ Jimi Hendrix writing " The wind cries Mary" has got to be the best Rock n Roll myth of all time ......I belive it! Too bad she didnt go to see him! Foxy Love fae Scotland VVxx
hehe the song history is too cute lol
Right! It's nothing too serious and deep. I love ot
Thanks Queen, peace
"We talked all night" Suuuuure
Yeah by "talked" she obviously meant "jack-hammered"
I mean they probably did, they eventually moved in together so you're not one to talk.
Yeah right, she did say in one interview, when the guy burst in the room, they were in bed, lol, if it were me, i sure as hell wouldn't be talking all night.... well maybe half the night... Wink..
@@paulablissett9396 She goes into detail in her book about the night they met and Linda bursting into the room and catching them in bed..LOL
@@Connie-B Yes, i know, Jimi broke Linda's heart he really did and Jimi being Jimi, felt , very bad about it however, Linda was doing lot of drugs, and drinking.....
Jimi doesn't like lumpy mash me either love hearing about jimi would have been awesome to see him live.🎸🎸
Originally from Derby, lived around the corner.
in the U.S., we all hate lumpy mashed potatoes. I probably would have been bitching about them too. lol
I think in UK they call them "crushed" if they have lumps in them but they taste the same!
JH would have definitely been on my dinner party guest list as he was apparently a gentle and introverted chap. May he rest in peace always.
Jimi must've had a bit o' the old Irish in him. If it was me, I would have named it: The Wind Cries "Smooth Mashed Potatoes". Of course, "Mary" was the best choice to bring back the Peace & Harmony between them.
Amen....
I almost think of Kathy as being Jimi's widow, even though they never married.
Kathy Etchingham, the widow of Jimi Hendrix. Almost.
Love her !
Awesome!
What song plays at the end??
An Alan Douglas remix of Land of the new rising sun,you can find it on the Album "Midnight Lightening"
Gypsy boy on people hell and angels
Clueless interviewers made ms. Etchingham work her butt off! Made her overstate the shit out of every anecdote, if you wanna know about Jimi there it is!
Murdered 100%.
Yes, 110%
@@paulablissett4447 he was more than revolutionary musician that's why he had to die and Kathy knows that.

I never knew he was a black dude wow
I hope you're kidding
either you are a troll or you been in space
I thought he was Asian?
Jimi was black and native american as far as race goes ,but his soul was all black culture
@@rockostiffredi4276 And part white, his mother was half white.... He was Black Canadian, Cherokee Indian, also.....
Didnt the BBC have a ban on Jimi? Lol
Probably. They do things like that from time to time!
Thru End. stemming from the `69 LULU show appearance.
What you think when Jimi Hendrix this day live what Play he this day like in Love Jimi the Rat
Haha this is dope
Who is Monika Danneman then??? Who is the real girlfriend?
I think jimi was crazy about linda Keith, seemed to get melancholy and mentioned her in live shows while singing.
@@tonymctony4551 Jimi mentioned a lot of women while singing, Jimi loved women, he was like a kid in a candy store, his preference was white over black women...
What girlfriend helped the mob kill Jiminy hendrix?
Love risk, they are trying to do away with risk these days 😎
Too late
I believe Linda Keith was jealous of kathy and jimi relationship
Wow she's chasing that clout isn't she
It’s an interesting insight after 50 years ?
Jimi only loved one woman and that was Lithofayne Pridgon. This chick was just a side piece. www.theguardian.com/music/2015/mar/22/lithofayne-pridgon-jimi-hendrix-original-foxy-lady
Jimmy needed a straight and clean woman. That was the only way he would have survived, but that was not who Jimmy was.
Not true....
@@shrapnel77 Jimi wanted a down home girl as he put it, tired of women , actresses , models, play boy bunnies, that wanted him for his money, and mostly his stance in life, he wasn't stupid or naive.... He was thinking about marriage @ one point, he once said his life would be meaningless going forward, without a wife and children...
Not true, Jimi was once head over heels in love with his child hood sweetheart Betty Jean Morgan.... While he was in the Army, he wrote Betty Jean and asked her to marry him, he purchased a ring for her, but her parents wouldn't let it happen, because they wanted her to finish school, it's true, he wasn't a womanizer then, and i do believe Jimi did hold Fayne close to his heart, and did love her...... Jimi once said, he never really truly loved anyone......It's a long complicated story, she was, however his muse, that's very true, no one woman @ that time, could tame Jimi down.......
@Aaron I agree to disagree with you, sir...
Female bragging rights.Jimi Hendrix?Yeah I did him
