STALKER is all about immersion, world building, atmosphere, and the gritty science fiction horror. Yellow ladders aren't immersive! Thank god the devs are openly in favor of mod support. The OG STALKER games weren't really that hard, but I think mods like GAMMA and Anomaly revitalized the series, and I hope the devs take the best parts of those mods and integrate them into the game. If not, it's not really a big deal since modders will do a lot of essential mods in the first few months after release. I just hope the game runs well on my hardware.
When I hear someone saying "yellow ladders ain't immersive" when the convo is about an industrial city/setting - I just know insta that someone haven't touched grass in decades 😂
@@F1stzz You can keep talking shit if it makes you feel better. Still doesn't change the fact that multiple things in the game are painted yellow so it's easier for console players to navigate, that's my main gripe. It feels more like 2013 Tomb Raider than STALKER with the "This spot is painted yellow, better go here!" or "This crate is painted yellow, you can break it for supplies!". But hey, who am I for wanting my gaming experience to be immersive right?
A lot of people got really comfortable with Anomaly and Gamma. And the ladder thing is crazy, y’all gotta chill man. A lot of games have ladders that are non-functional, it’s not an insult to intelligence. They may expect people to come from Fallout where ladders don’t work.
It's not about the ladders or non-fuctioning ladders. IDK even know wtf you are talking about. Everyone is tired of devs hand-holding the player and telling them where to go based on yellow paint on shit. It is obnoxious and doesn't fit in this setting. Again it is also just immersion-breaking and is annoying to see in such a gritty brutal world. STALKER is the one of if not the most hardcore single-player first person shooters you can play and no one wants their hand held.
@@ech0ech071 i think you have been playing too much gamma, vanilla stalker is actually pretty easy and if you look back you can see a lot of hand holding mechanics like a compass, enemy detector, OP binoculars that detect anything, grenade indicators, stealth indicator, very easy to get artifacts and heal spamming. there should be some hand holding in a game to get comfortable with its mechanics, though of course no one wants to play a tutorial simulator, but not many people want to be tortured while playing a game. if you want to play a hardcore game go back to gamma and tarkov, cuz stalker has never been really hardcore, it has always been primarily an atmospheric open world fps.
@@ech0ech071 Basically this. The yellow paint design goes deeper than just this game. Its something that so many AAA devs have done. Even if it does stay or there isn't a toggle there will be mods that removes it. Also mods like Anomaly and GAMMA are the reason Stalker is relevant in the past 5 years in the first place. Even if they weren't like the original games they were incredibly popular for a reason.
@@kleanisklean I would love to agree with you but you can never know if a game will be modding friendly until it is released. I would like to believe the game to be popular with modders but you never know man...
Really wasn’t the best choice lol. I get that controller gameplay can make it easier to take in visuals during a showcase but man does it hurt to watch at times.

@@myles5276 folks who played the demo said you could. Really surprised nobody in these showcases has used it, but I’m guessing they find it uncomfortable using the sticks while leaning
Stalker was never hardcore. The only people who have dirt for brains are people who need yellow paint. Turns out the series isn't as hardcore as you originally thought if this is how the developers see their playerbase. As idiots that need outside help.
Klean I'm worried it looks to console-ish?.. and is more far cry than STALKER I mean I love anomaly and wanted something similar to that idea or theme. Am I in the wrong for having that expectation ? I'm just worried its going to have Ubi soft style world exploration like Climb the tower unlock the map for fast travel ect... and the UI for looting stuff Looks horrid and huge (but that might just be for console)
@@F1zzzy90 The ladders, yeah, but the yellow paint is also a highlight from recent game developers used to show interaction with objects like breakable floors. Ladders, handrails, some piping, etc. in the original games were all painted monochrome yellow. So it wasn't a gameplay thing, it was an esthetic. Here it's probably just being confused with the former, but, I can't really blame anyone because they're doing both. Like Metro was notorious for this too.
I was hoping the game had a good foundation, looks and atmosphere wise they seem to have nailed it. Modders will absolutely knock this out of the park im sure. This game will be crazy after one year of its initial release. Cant wait for stalker 2 GAMMA
Gotta say, a lot of these features give me farcry flashbacks. The box on top of towers you have to slap a bit, the giant UI "press button to pickup" yellow pathing. I wish they'd just shown the a-life in the area, some cool interactions, some looting already dead corpses (from ai fights) or such. Also I imagine it's only because of it being a gameplay showoff, but all the guns lying everywhere also seems odd for a stalker game. I do understand this is "Stalker" 2 not "anomaly" 2 so it makes sense it has less of a sandbox feel and isn't as aggressively survivalist, but I still wish they'd gone a little more in that direction. I also greatly dislike the fallout style ui location thingy at the top. Ruins any chance of a immersive and natural exploration feeling. The weapon wheel is also ehhh, just make it 1-2-3, (probably is and also has the wheel but still) the wheel takes you out of the combat. Overall I do think this looks good though, from the standpoint that the overall world looks awesome and I imagine most of the stupid stuff can easily be fixed with mods. (Hopefully)
yeah when i saw them breaking boxes and med cases/ ammo/ grenade cases by slashing them with a knife i was a lil disappointed. thats some outdated video game shit right there. stuff like that breaks immersion while the environment is very immersive and immersion is kinda stalkers selling point.
A lot of the UI complaints you mentioned are because the game is also being launched on consoles. I am sure within just a few months there will be modded versions of this game much closer to anomaly. Don't forget that this game was made by Ukrainian and Russian devs during the invasion... The fact that this game is coming out at all is a fucking miracle
Those barrels exploding look soooo goofy. Zero damage, stagger, screenshake... nothing. And the explosion effect are tiny as well. Like some knock-off/assett flip game. The more times I see this vid the worse the combat feels, like your avarage console shooter at best. I'm kinda disappointed. IDGAF that someone said they dumbed down the AI for the demos and turned on game journalist mode to record this... Why? Get good at your own game so you don't have to dumb it down! It just looks bad. The graphics, environment and vibe of the place looks amazing tho, and I'll most definitely play it, I just hope the combat is tunable to something that feels less hollow.
@@F1stzz if that's gasoline I'd expect a nice big fireball and lots of black smoke, instead of a couple puffs the size of a firecracker. It's red barrels in a game, they have to go big boom :D It is the law!
zero plans for coop. They will release a form of multiplayer update into the game for free after release. Whatever that may be... There will probably be a coop mod later on though..
@@Rated_xv That multiplayer mode will be similar to the old PvP multiplayer that the OG games had. Things like capture the flag, team-deathmatch etc. They stated some reasons why they didn't want coop and I guess that's fine since it's their view of the Zone, just have to hope modders can bring coop into the UE5 framework.
breaking boxes by slashing them with a knife is the most outdated video game shit ive seen in a while, wish they didnt add that o the game it breaks immersion.

let's be real...game's gonna be shit when it comes out. graphics is the only good thing to come outta this. it's gonna be a shame when ANOMALY and GAMMA bring out the true STALKER experience better than any actual STALKER game. I can already see mods removing the damn yellow paint, removing the crosshair, overhauling that disgusting UI, like really? a weapon wheel? what is this GTA5??
@@jagirinawa it's like a little ant biting your ass. Yea it's tiny and irritiating at best. But you sure as hell can't ignore it. Like, lemme figure shit out on my own. Pre-ordering a game with numerous restarts, problems and 'murky paths' of it's 10+ year development cycle is quite the risk to take for your first and last pre-order... Personally I would've started with something with less of a chance to disappoint.
@@mgs85 It made sense at the time, I knew I would have to pay quadruple the price when it got released, kind of a special case.. I agree.

What is it exactly that's giving you FarCry vibes?
You're restarded.
GAMMA, Anomaly and Operator Drewski. His videos about Gamma specifically made everyone realize stalker was even a thing. 😂
@@CertifiedSunset check out the other reply I sent you & just let it fucking go for your own mental health's sake 😁
@@F1stzz You're one to talk about letting it go, you replied to my original comment LMFAO 🤣
@@potatoman3242 100%, I played the 3 games on Master when I was a child and hardly struggled; they are nowhere close to being like Anomaly or Gamma.
So saying there will be mods for this or that before the game comes out could effect peoples buying choices and may cause unwanted results for them down the line. For example MB:Warband was a super moddable game while it's successor Bannerlord didn't get fraction of the mods even though a Developer Kit was released for it. I would like to believe the game to be popular with modders but you never know man...
Noice
why did they have to show case a clunky controller player lol makes it look so arcade like..
Really wasn’t the best choice lol. I get that controller gameplay can make it easier to take in visuals during a showcase but man does it hurt to watch at times.
@thebulletkin8393 it's weird because I play with controller and it's much more fluid for me. I wonder why there's is so stuttery. Also is the lean gone.
@@myles5276 folks who played the demo said you could. Really surprised nobody in these showcases has used it, but I’m guessing they find it uncomfortable using the sticks while leaning
That's fair. They just might not be used to it.
@@myles5276 leaning is literally in the deep dive
Everybody complaining about "hand holding" has absolute dirt for brains. STALKER is not GAMMA. Looks just as hardcore as it ever has.
Imagine getting taking paint on things as an offense.
Or heaven forbid, any construction have yellow on it.
Funny part is, ladders in the original games were yellow as well
@@F1zzzy90 The ladders, yeah, but the yellow paint is also a highlight from recent game developers used to show interaction with objects like breakable floors.
Why cry over paint? Lame
Because it's garbage game design for idiots.
Imagine Stalker 2, with some of the gamma modpack stuff.. i'd play nothing else for a year straight xD
This time around no mods going to be free or standalone so you have to own a game.
Why doesn't this game look like this on Playstation?
I was hoping the game had a good foundation, looks and atmosphere wise they seem to have nailed it.
Modders will absolutely knock this out of the park im sure. This game will be crazy after one year of its initial release.
Cant wait for stalker 2 GAMMA
Dude you got legitimately way too mad about the yellow paint lmfao like it's not THAT big of a deal.
Stalker 2 will absolutely be modded as heck. It will fix any crap that the devs put in to mitigate the stupid console plebs
If you complain about yellow paint, atleast complain about red barrels.
This is the clear illustration on how not to do the first gameplay showcase =)
@@Silentheaven89So… like you could in every stalker game?

Looks miles better than the dogshit that was the original games gunplay

Those are gasoline barrels - not some TNT stacks. TF do you expect? 😂
@@F1stzz if that's gasoline I'd expect a nice big fireball and lots of black smoke, instead of a couple puffs the size of a firecracker. It's red barrels in a game, they have to go big boom :D It is the law!
@@ViktorPalosi I mean, gasoline barrels wouldn't explode immediately (or at all) IRL in the first place, so I'd say it's fine like that 🤷🏻♂️

The game looks fucking beautiful but maybe I’m too spoiled from Gamma and other mods. If it’s coop tho, I can look past some flaws ig
zero plans for coop. They will release a form of multiplayer update into the game for free after release. Whatever that may be... There will probably be a coop mod later on though..
@@Rated_xv no coop is crazy
@@Rated_xv That multiplayer mode will be similar to the old PvP multiplayer that the OG games had. Things like capture the flag, team-deathmatch etc. They stated some reasons why they didn't want coop and I guess that's fine since it's their view of the Zone, just have to hope modders can bring coop into the UE5 framework.
breaking boxes by slashing them with a knife is the most outdated video game shit ive seen in a while, wish they didnt add that o the game it breaks immersion.
It's an intentional nod to a trope from the previous games. They know what they are doing
