Dire you have a wand that protects tile entities. You tested it a few episodes ago while trying to figure out how to protect your astral black hole trapping machine in the overworld
New crystals wont be placed for 2 reasons: 1) there is only one pulse activating the placers, 2) Even if there was time for the placers to activate again the block is occupied. As for the essence, it might lag the game if too many blobs drop but i dont think he really needs it or the drops for that matter
you still need: • a way to clear the portal of xp & items • a timer? (don't forget to take into account the dragon spawning, killing time & dying animatio) • auto restock endcrystals? • egg removal • use locking wans thing maybe??
Dire this build scratches an itch I've had since the days of the World Eater frame miners. Using a bunch of mods in a way the they weren't necessarily intended. Love it.
Dire! WARNING! You can corrupt the end dimension if you leave the end while a dragon is spawning. Keep that in mind if you plan on spawning the dragon using wireless redstone from the overworld. I'm not sure if that can happen, but I'm pretty sure you don't want that headache.
Maybe there are some kind of player detector for the whole end-dimension(?) that he can wire into the spawning mechanism to stop the spawning if a player enters the dimension.

I wasn’t sure you could actually pull this off, I know there are ways to automate the Ender Dragon but this is by far the coolest I’ve seen. Well done all around, you put lots of effort put in to this build and it was really enjoyable. Thanks for the episodes Dire!
Great build, Dire! I'm loving your focus on new and interesting builds! This channel hasn't been this interesting since the days of world eaters, and thaumcraft laser ufo's with built in water droppers.. :)
Need to put another range collector down at the portal so that it picks up all the items that can block the next placing of the crystals. Great build Dire! Keep up the great work!
I think that's the most creative and interesting way I've ever seen to farm the Ender Dragon. Also, side note, if you put a torch a block bellow the block the egg is sitting on and take the block out from under it, it'll turn into an item entity like with the piston. :D
I could see that in the several times he tested with 1.0 it worked, so it must be something fixed by Minecraft, leaving the Dragon with 1.0 life in the death animation.
you might want to complete, complete it ;) hooking up the timer for spawning and autocrafting of crystals. Then you could always generate hearts. Stop the timer with an remote controll in your base. Other than that, this was a really cool projekt!
As a person who plays mainly vanilla minecraft, to see this man so casually spawn in and kill, what is to me a force of destruction, multiple times, is honestly a power move
Instead of a timer you can improve it with AE2 "crafting" on-demand 4 ender crystal = dragon heart, ME Level Emitter connected to channel 5 keep 10 hearts or something like that. Another approach if you want to auto-craft them is to have two channels of wireless redstone, one to stop it and the other with a not gate on entity reader from DE. Pseudo code comming: while hostileEntity == true throw shurikens if entity.health =< 1.0 exit; break and replace block; 30 tick delay if hostileEntity != true place ender crystals. P.S: either approach should work
If you want to speed up the killing don’t forget you can level up the shurikens some more and add quartz for sharpness. Also is the absorption hopper in the pack? That would clear any experience orbs that fall on the spawn spaces.
Dear Dire, the eggs (you already know) spawn on the same block every single time you kill the dragon. so Put a torch on the block under the block they spawn the eggs break like gravel and put a hopper or a vacuum hopper to collect them!
For all the fill in the holes so the dragon can't get below the fountain posts: The dragon phases through blocks and erases anything that isn't specifically immune to the ender dragon (End Stone, Obsidian, and Bedrock are all that is immune in vanilla, IIRC). When the dragon is released from the vortex she is being launched into the ground then she flies to the fountain to die. She was just launched far enough down in that one test to hit the placers, in the previous tests she was being launched further to the side so that she had time to fly to the surface of the island before reaching the fountain (and was erasing the placers and wiring around the fountain while they were there)
Hey Direwolf20 a quick and simple way to collect the eggs would be to place a torch where the eggs always fall ,then have a vacuum chest /hopper collect them for you.
Pressure plate on the atomic reconstructor would work faster, for the magnet there's the mod Demagnetize, if it's not in the pack you could add it since it's not game breaking in any way. Filters on the empowerer setup would be annoying but will prevent future issues when asking for different empowered blocks at the same time. Instead of a fixed timer for the spawning of the ender dragon you could extend the IntegratedDynamics setup to redstone write to a sequencer so that it starts a loop of 30? secs after the dragon has actually died. And yeah like other people have said, the item and xp drops at the altar are most likely going to block the phantom placers.
Of course I'm happy with the results Dire! Seeing all of these mods in this build working together, that's awesome! And as I commented on the previous videos, I really appreciate you showing the thought process that came with this build. Other YTers are like my old Math teachers: here's the problem, *poof*, now here's the answer. Keep being awesome Dire!
if you use the draconic dislocator you can then make the block from draconic, forget what its called but its basically an anti magnet block where it will disable your dislocator in a certain area
Dig 2 under the eggs > place torch > break block between torch and egg > profit. As for not using the block/entity protector and not sucking up the loot which keeps causing issues with the placers, lets just say Dire likes doing things the hard way because it gives him more of an opportunity to problem solve. 😂
It's not complete until you automate the collection of eggs. Alls you need is a torch where the eggs drop, and a range collector or something to pick up exp too so you can get all the drops. This will have the added benefit of not having any items get in the way of the crystals.
@23:25 Leaving aside that this is going to run into problems as soon as he tries to craft multiples... Viewers note that if you have a stack of filters, you *can* just hold them and sneak-use them on empty air (i.e. shift-right-click) to bring up the filter configuration and set them all at once.
I thought this was a very unique way to automate dragon killing. It's hard to keep the dragon in place and the lack of using a test world for this was kinda cool. It's different to see all the mess ups and testing required for some of these bigger setups
Dire, Dire, Dire... You've forgotten not one, but TWO essential components. First, Vacuum Hopper for the XP orbs to prevent them from blocking the crystal placing. Second... If you set up that wireless redstone in your base and hit the button, noting will happen because that areas isn't chunkloaded. Also, definitely automate the collection of the eggs. You're already going to want a nearby Vacuum Hopper, so really all you need to do is set a piston on a timer and hook up the Vacuum Hopper to a White/White/White Ender Chest.
I for one did not see the derp with the end crystals. One last thing is to get experience orbs and eggs picked up at the bottom to keep the whole thing running smoothly
I was expecting quite a good derping with the blocks, but to not even place the crystals in the phantom placers is the better derp in my opinion. Thanks for my daily dose of entertainment
Really enjoyed the build/episodes, but feel like it could have been compressed a little in terms of 4 episodes to say 2? Dunno if that is anyone else's opinion. Overall: Amazing to see you have fun and use some new mod combos :)
You still need an automated way of refilling the phantom placers with ender crystals, an automated way of picking up and xp blobs that fall onto the blocks that the ender crystals are placed on, and you also need to set up an automated way of starting the whole process. Not quite a finished build yet.
Polemeister is almost right. Fairly sure it is shift left click, however that cable either needs to have multiple active connectors or no active connectors, if there is exactly one active connector it will always open that connector.
cant you just surround the placement area in a shield from RFtools? And if you increase the range in the entity detector, you can read the variable of the dragon, even when he is not dying
I wouldn't say it's 100% done... Maybe 80-90% since the remaining automation is not finished. There is still: * picking up XP and items from Dragon's death * a timer to run the spawning of the Dragon * Dragon Egg removal (piston or drop it on a torch) * stocking the End Crystals * protecting the Phantom Placers by covering up the hole Overall, good build, but some final details still needed addressed. Otherwise, good job.
Every time the dragon dies more of the end stone is replaced with biotite, In my playthrough of one of the Skyblock modpacks where you have to kill the dragon 20some times there was more biotite than stone making up the island by the end of that task.
Pressure plate in pulse mode would fail if for some reason more items dropped than the laser could convert in a single operation as the leftovers would keep the signal on, or if new materials dropped on the pressure plate before it could reset. The entity detector in inverted mode with Deactivation on the laser as per the video will allow the laser to fire whenever there are any items there, regardless of if they are leftovers from a previous operation or newly dropped. TLDR: pressure plate can get stuck, entity reader can't.
Why do stuff like a timer for the dragon spawning? Link the spawning for a new dragon to the block breaking. That way the same time the dragon dies and gets released a new dragon spawns.
It may still need to have a delay built into it - I think the dragon needs to have fully died before the next one can be spawned - but that would still be a good trigger for a sequencer.
if the dragon egg always spawns on the same block wouldn't it be better to use a sticky piston to move the block and have all the eggs fall onto a torch
So yeah this is really cool and I've very much enjoyed watching the automatic dragon killer build, but I think in my own play-along I'm just gonna do Deep Mob Learning and save myself several hours of screaming and cursing. It's cheesy but it works.
