- In this video we are talking about crystal oscillators.
Crystal Oscillators Used to generate stable clock frequency.
Where High level of stability required then Crystal Oscillators are used.
Application of Crystal Oscillators are
1. Radio and Telecommunication Equipment’s
2. Digital Circuits like smart phones computers and other industrial circuits.
3. Generally used with Microcontrollers to generates the clock signal.
Problem with other oscillators are given below and due that their frequency changes
1. Change in Temperature
2. Change in Power supply Voltage
3. Change in Components value then frequency also change.
Crystal Oscillators works on the principle of Inverse Piezo electric effect. It is made up of Piezoelectric materials.
When we apply AC voltage to Piezo material then it start vibrating at same frequency. This is known as inverse piezoelectric effect.
And when we apply external force to the piezo material then they generates the voltage. If we apply mechanical force of certain frequency then it generates the AC signal of same frequency.
Piezo Electric Materials are
1. Rochelle salt
2. Tourmaline
3. Quartz
Generally Quartz material is used for crystal oscillators.
General values are 32.7Khz, 1 Mhz, 8 Hmz, 11.0592MHz, 12 MHz, 20 MHz etc.

Very well explained ....Crystal oscillators are revolutionary as they turned mechanical clocks into digital ones.....Even big clock maker company Ajanta added Quartz into their name.
