You wouldn't know this yet, but it is sort of an ARMY code to give BTS their privacy. There was a purple ribbon campaign where ARMYs formed a barrier of purple ribbons to make a safe walkway for the members through an airport without them getting mobbed. It is also considered good ARMY etiquette to allow the boys to enjoy their private outings without ARMY interference. Respectful ARMYs even go so far as to pretend they don't see BTS out in public if they see them so as not to cause a stir. We love them, they have given us so much, they share a ton of their lives with us, the least we can do is respect their private time.

Yes. When BTS went to Helsinki, Finland for a vacation/photoshoot, Finnish ARMYs really protected their privacy, we didn't get any snapshots or even info of their whereabout while they were there. Likewise, when BTS went to New Zealand, Kiwi ARMYs decided to use secret codes to talk with each other about BTS so that nobody knows their whereabouts (New Zealand is not densely populated so it is easy to spot BTS and their entourage.)

Real ARMYs don’t act in ways that can hurt the members. It’s selfish, disrespectful, and very dangerous. If fans want the guys to stop and smile and wave, they can’t rush them. And remember, BTS has had death threats so anything flying from the audience and hitting them while they’re performing must be very startling and scary. BTS have lights on them. They can’t see what’s flying towards them. That’s just terrible behavior. Korea is more conservative and I doubt if throwing bras and panties is a thing over there. BTS treats ARMY with such respect and love and the members deserve the same from fans and shouldn’t have to fear them.

As a westerner, it is understandable that you might not find the “mobbing” that bad since most Western groups seem to enjoy that frenzy, but BTS in particular appreciates the respect that ARMY gives them; once, ARMy got together and held a purple ribbon along the airport hallway to protect the guys arriving somewhere to avoid crazy fans from getting too close and allowing them free passage.😊
You gave to also remember the few death threats they had received, so any mobs like that would be way too scary for any if them. I would gave been afraid too!
And the bra thing…, heck, I’ve always thought women who do that downgrade themselves and hated that other bands seem to like that, so for our 7 guys who respect all fans, especially women, that would be insulting. It’s one of the many reasons I love them too. They are gentlemen. Different mindsets, different cultures.

Yes. I'm from America so I can understand what your saying. Groups here they wouldn't care if a woman threw her bra at them they would actually enjoy it which I don't like. That's what I like about BTS and also groups like SHINee they don't like that and they respect women unlike men here sadly. Maybe Army need to start doing the purple ribbons again, we need to do something to protect these guys but it's sad when they have to be protected from some of the people who say they love them.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I definitely used to share your opinion that being mobbed is basically one of the downsides to be expected with great fame, but this is one of the many perceptions I re-thought once I became ARMY. My perspective now: if I respect someone and care about them as an actual human being, rather than a commodity/object, then it is 💯 disrespectful to violate their privacy, to put them in danger by participating in a mob, to throw things at them, etc. 💜💜

I agree with everyone here. Just because you are famous or make a living from putting yourself out there publicly does not mean anyone has the right the “right” to every moment of your life. I think that the guys have tried hard to ensure we see them as genuine real and relatable guys and show us that, while we can love and respect them, we should not place them on some high pedestal thinking that they have no flaws. They are real people with real feelings. They are not some perfect being that should be worshiped. They are amazing for all they have achieved, their work ethic, for their sincerity, and the love they show us. That, right there, is becoming rare to see in a lot of places. We all want them to be very happy and I believe that part of that is being able to have breaks from the spot light and being able to feel a sense of security. This means if they want to go to a store or have to go traveling they should not have to worry about the crowds of people who might swarm them or someone one lurking around trying to take photos. They should also be allowed to have relationships just like every other normal person. From all rational discussions I have seen between ARMY, I think we agree that we should try to help ensure they have the life they want and not the one others think they should have. We try to not call too much attention to them if we ever saw them outside official events. Most ARMY now try to recommend not going to see them at airports for their safety. There have been several instances where ARMY have seen them on vacation but not bothered them and waited to post on socials that they saw them to make sure no one else tried to go and see them. I love that! I know there are young fans but that is all the more reason to ensure we teach them that that type of behavior is not ok. We do not want more “fans” who think it is ok to stalk them. There are too many of those already.

I love how protective you're getting over our boys 😁 I always see this happen to people as they start learning more about BTS. I myself as a very easy-going person never thought that I'd feel that connected to an artist and get that angry and defensive when I see someone bad-mouthing or hating on them like I do with BTS specially since I used to believe in k-pop stereotypes and refused to give them a chance for years but it happened.
It's really inevitable though when you have some of the nicest most genuine human beings on Earth who do nothing but work hard, spread love and positivity. and who've managed to help so many people and save many lives getting treated like that by some of the worst people who haven't achieved half of BTS' achievements just because they're ignorant and jealous.
Anyway it's a pleasure having you in our fandom I really like your reactions. Your energy reminds me of another dad BTS reactor named DT Parker who's bias is also Jimin, but he might be the biggest Jimin fanboy in the world so you've got some serious competition 😄💜

BTS won that Top Social Artist award every single year after they first started winning it. Billboard realized that was never going to change, so they just stopped giving that award at all. Anything to take something away from BTS. Just like changing the rules of how to get an artist's song into the Billboard charts at all. ARMY's gamed the system so well by supporting BTS, that Billboard does anything they can to make BTS hurt.

I never understand throwing sh*t on stage tbh. Especially to the group who is dancing on stage. It can be dangerous. For the mobbing, ARMYs kind of "code" is respecting their space. When they travel unofficially most of us even when we see them, we don't talk about that till they don't come back to Korea. There is photo of one ARMY hiding merch because she didn't want to member(I don't remember witch one) felt uncomfortable. We can do small things like that for them and I bet they feel awesome when they are not bothered by people and can do normal things like just taking a walk.
Edit: I just remembered one thing. Tae(V) was shooting Jinny's Kitchen in Mexico (It's a program when he and other Korean celebs opened restaurant) ARMY ate ther and she didn't show that she is ARMY. She just left a note on the table "I love you so much Kim Taehyung" and then left without bothering him. That's how we do things in this fandom. I can understand that in huge crowd you can follow others but on the other hand we are not animals. We should know how to control ourselves.

Respecting their privacy and space is the only and best gift I can give BTS. I do see a lot of psychology in them mobbing Jin. As you said, those people are caught up in their own emotions of love for Jin and as you said, many are young they're dealing with all emotions all the time AND they are in a crowd. If I'm an ARMY alone, that's great. If I went to a concert and talked to people as we waited for BTS and we shared thoughts of why we liked their lyrics and which song we most wanted to hear. By showtime we would know each other a bit and be euphoric when the first Pyro sparked. If an ARMY saw Jin at the airport, it would be most appreciated if they just smiled and walked away. It should be easy for one person, but not in a crowd like the airport when ALL the ARMY comes on schedule or a concert. They should have stayed home after the first time and written a letter to Big Hit. I understand your hot take. I'm a few years older than you, so I understand the megastar mobbing as an expectation and not a disrespect ( MJ, Madonna) and also the panties at the stage.

Yes, the mob of people might ( in some ways ) be trying to show love to the star, but there is & should be limits. Showing up, screaming, following, etc is not totally bad, but once you hinder the movement of the group, extreme disrespect, or possibly cause harm you've gone too far. As for the make-up comments, all I can say is ' some people are just unknowledable ( stupid [my words])', actors, performers, even professional rappers were make- up for protection from strong lighting used in production. As for the lady commenting on Jimin, she's jealous cause his highlights & make-up looks better than hers, lol. Hi, Dad, the airport mobbing is a problem for everyone. BTS respects their fans so much that when JK travels he bows to them as he enters. But sometimes there's a person who is seriously crazy and can barely be blocked by security. V once picked a girl up before she got trampled.

I am enjoying your reactions. Thank you. Just a little info about the mobbing situation. True ARMY pride themselves on showing love and RESPECT to the guys, and one way we do this is to never crowd them or make them feel uncomfortable. Many ARMY'S have told of running into one or more of the guys somewhere and not even acknowledging their presence so that the guys have a little sense of normalcy when they are out and about. The guys themselves have talked about how precious ARMY are and how much they appreciate them behaving that way.
So, while that behavior may be tolerated in some groups, it is frowned upon by most ARMY and BTS.

We have to assume that they are constantly getting death threats since the very first one. I assume the larger they get, the more dangerous the outside world will be for them. I wish fans would refrain from going to the airport. The members are already tired and jetlagged and trying to get to their hotel rooms or their home without any incidents. Mobbing and throwing thing at the artist is extremely dangerous.
What if Jin was dancing and the bra had landed on the ground and he tripped/caused him to slip and fall or it hitting him in the face and he got disoriented and fell off the stage? This is why you don’t throw things.
Similarly fans mobbing is extremely dangerous. Jin could have tripped and fell while the mobs encroached on him like that making it hard for security to help him. Also mobbing could also cause the fans to fall and get trampled.
Also what if there was someone in the crowd that is mobbing is actually trying to hurt the artist(s). Many of the artists have had death threats. Mobbing makes it very difficult for the body guards to protect the artist. 🥺
We don’t want to see any of BTS or any artists for get hurt?

I think you might enjoy boracity magazine videos, 'bts vs radio' or 'how the bts army changed fandom culture' might be good ones to start with.
I understand what you're saying about the mobbing but there are numerous reasons why ARMY strongly and continuously discourages ppl from going to airports and even taking pictures/videos without their permission. First of all, the fandom is massive enough where it can create a genuine safety issue for everyone involved. You're also disrupting regular people who just want to go about their business. Everyone wants to see BTS so thinking that it's ok for YOU to go see them is just entirely selfish, the bigger the fandom the more we need to manage ourselves. And last, but easily the most overlooked reason is simply respect. They deserve the same level of privacy as anybody else. Yes, the mobbing comes with the package of being a celebrity but normalizing that type of behaviour is somewhat dehumanizing towards celebrities. Concerts and other official events is a time to scream, faint, take pictures, etc. Outside of work they should be allowed to just be regular people because they are regular people, just with a crazy job.

One person threw a bra … you say it’s ok it’s a form of flattery … but if it’s ok and then two throw something or 20 or 200 or 2000 be it bras, panties, flowers, teddies, gifts at what point does it become dangerous for the boys who give their all when performing on a stage that is so covered in things being thrown at them ?

    Okay
7:11 oh well respectfully, that’s disgusting. BTS concerts are not rockstar concert or whatever. Maybe that was back in the day, different era and culture.
Throwing stuff at the artists while they’re singing/performing is absolutely disrespectful and inappropriate. And it’s NOT a compliment.
Fans should celebrate their admiration for BTS through respectful gestures, not by violating their personal space and dignity.
And that person was not an ARMY.
Jin, like all artists, deserves to perform without fear of being hit or objectified. Such actions cross the line of decency and can cause discomfort or even injury to the performer.
10:54 Just bc you are famous DOES NOT mean you have to live every moments of your life, surrounded by fans. And the “fans” DOES NOT have the rights to invade their privacy.
Mobbing is disrespectful and extremely dangerous. It violates their personal space. Also mobbing makes it very difficult for the body guards to protect the artist. Is that hard to understand? No.
Like what would it be like if you were flying for 12hours, different countries, different time zones, can’t even get proper amount of sleep, while going on a tour, giving all your energy for the concerts? AND then get surrounded by “fans”, trynna take a pic, stalk u, touch u the moment you landed? Nuh uh
In this case, Jin was sick and tired, trynna go home. But look. So called fans mobbed him again. Both Jin and fans could have tripped and fell, get trampled and squashed causing injury.
You should watch Boracity’s vids. It’ll help you understand more abt this industry.

Throwing underwear (or other items) on stage may have been acceptable or considered flattery in the past, but why would a woman do that?! I'm sure there are better ways to show your appreciation for the members. Crowding at airports or in public in general is just a safety hazard for BTS, the fans and the general public. This is a point that Boracity makes in her video essay about how BTS changed their fandom: In Western fandoms acting crazy is encouraged and considered a sign of being a true fan. But ARMY respects BTS's space when they're not on an official schedule. I agree with others that Boracity's video essay is important to understand some differences in fan cultures. Sasaeng (toxic/stalker "fans") are another problem. There has to be a clear line between loving BTS's music plus all the other content they share with ARMY and their private lives. The members are still human beings that have lives apart from being celebrities.

It's total disrespect because it's dangerous and threatening to the person and dangerous to the fans themselves people are going to get crushed, injured and the artists and staff the same. In that crowd could be someone with an intent to harm. Especially with all the death threats BTS members have received. It's frightening even if no one 'means' any harm but actors and artist have been hurt along with their staff before. Worse in China there have been car chases. Think about what happened to Princess Diana in Paris France she was killed due to crazy reporters.
So no this type of behaviour is highly dangerous, terrifying and disrespectful.

It's the same if artist get mobbed, it's really dangerous and can lead to dangerous situations where anyone can get hurt.

I understand what you’re saying about, “Mega stars,” getting mobbed and it is something that should be expected as such. However when it compromises the safety of the artist that is an issue. Additionally there should be a line that fans should not cross. As a previous poster mentioned, ARMY created the purple ribbon project to help keep BTS safe as they made their ways through the airport or in a place crowds were expected. That is the special relationship between BTS and ARMY 💜💜

It does happen with some really famous people but it doesn’t make it ok. ARMY is supposed to be more composed(not to rush them) and always be respectful of the guys as people. It is something we have strived to make known in the fandom and frowned upon to act that way.

One of the biggest reasons I was drawn to ARMY after BTS found me is that ARMY recognizes that all 7 members of BTS are humans first, before they're performers or artists or superstars. (I wouldn't wish fame on my worst enemy.)
ARMY is their respectful friend, not their sycophant, not a mindless mob.
BTS has asked to be treated like people, and they've said it's scary to get mobbed & stalked. JK treated us to swearing at the stalkerazzi camped out by his house.
ARMY gets ... ... *protective* when someone treats their friend with anything other than the respect due a human being. That goes for crowds, DJs, news shows, you name it.
There are entertainment magazines ARMY doesn't click on to read when an article about BTS comes out, waiting for screenshots, because the magazine or the reporter maligned our guys at some point in the past & never apologized.
Knowing how crap we in the west are to our celebrities here, just expecting them to put up with it, sure ARMY's protectiveness can sound unreasonable. But why just do what everybody else does & drive our favorite artists into hiding or out of the business? When BTS is mentioned on Korean tv series, it is with respect, and I've seen a couple times where a character even jumps in to say something like DON'T SAY THAT TOO LOUD ARMY WILL HEAR YOU, even when it's something nice.
If one of your kids got into showbiz, wouldn't you want them to have fans like ARMY?

Mobbing is incredibly disrespectful because of the safety threats it poses to them. I can't remember where exactly, but somewhere in Japan, V was mobbed coming out of a Celine event. A woman in the mob had the audacity to grab a fistful of his hair and yank it as he was trying to get into the car. Mobbing is a big no-no in this fandom.

Like others said it’s an unwritten ARMY rule that if you see them out of scheduling also they appreciate it more that you don’t acknowledge in words or approach few years ago Tae on V Live thanked Army’s that allowed him too spend time alone with his family without interruptions just head nod smile and don’t gain others attention to them … we try too set a better example for what every famous person should have the opportunity too be loved from afar.. this also is why the bond between BTS and ARMY is so strong the mutual respect and taking responsibility for our own actions towards BTs and others. At Busan concert and also last years 10th Year Anniversary at locations with many Army’s and non Army’s celebrating and being around afterwards the authorities expected mass clear ups but as ARMYs always endeavour too do the grass concert arena and surrounding areas and streets had no rubbish or litter left , previously western media commented before at ARMYs collecting rubbish queuing respectfully.. Sassengs are the extreme fan not ARMY these are those that stalk and even use money influence too gain BTS where abouts flight schedules seat numbers phone numbers stalking thier buildings one recently concerned Tae in a lift at his residence trying too force him too sign marriage certificate… luckily charges were filled but worrying that they could get into a secured residence car park and lift .. another sassengs ordered food and delivery too Jungkook apartment then cursed and yelled at him for not appreciating the gesture.. he tried too explain he can afford too buy his own food and try and make light of it but it’s worrying the consequences of what could have been. Alongside the sassengs there’s been de#*h thre@ts too members before for all many of so called reasonings.. Members have expressed thier love for ARMy but at times also strictly mentioned what scares them banging the cars over crowding at airports etc having these conversations with Army and BTs has greatly impacted and improved our relationships with each Otho and when encountering situations we know that BTs don’t like we can hold each other accountable that’s what makes us different from other fandoms these are unwritten unwavering principles created at the time of ARMYs coming into existence and as we grow and expand globally we need too spread this so it’s maintained our focus on keeping BTs safe in thier own country but as they travel as individuals or as a group. Bon. Voyage in sweeedem think was Jhope kindly declined signing autographs as the aren’t ment to but politely declined by saying “sorry important business-eu “ I think also the throwing of items on stage was part of the unwritten as not tooo cause bodily harm also BTs have previously said too not have phones out instead watch with own eyes not through think that was one muster lol hope haven’t waffled too much

I think living here in the US we are used to (de synthesized) crazy things happening and accepting that behavior, and yes one never knows how they will react in certain moments but some where we have to stop this. Give yourself a good talking to before the event or don't go, you are responsible for your own actions. If you don't think you can control yourself then be an adult and don't go. Thinking of someone kissing Jin at the event he held last month giving out hugs. Have you heard one bad apple spoils the whole bunch. Do we wish he would hold that event again, he/they wont if we don't play by the rules.
BTS shows great respect to Army, individuals and a lot towards women we need to respect them better. We need to respect their culture, their beliefs not make them live by ours. also, I may be wrong about this but when Jin first went in to the military there was a story of a nurse going to his base and giving him a shot, later they discovered she did this all on her own. This is serious stuff.
also, regarding mobbing someone, not sure if you know about this but when Jin went to Argentina for last appearance, he existed out back of the airport apologized to Army did not want anyone getting hurt, himself or others,, with in 48 hours or less people were at an event in Seoul Korea and people were trampled to death. Don't remember the statics but can you imagine going to something/ a party and you lose our life because you are trampled to death. Mobbing is serious.
BTS teaches us to love yourself, you can't love yourself if you don't respect yourself. When you start loving yourself you will love others and part of love, not puppy love or infatuation but really love not fake love is to show respect to that person. You are not respecting yourself or others when you start taking clothes off in public and implying something sexual to the person you throw it at. There used to be a saying, "are you the kind of girl a guy wants to date and just sleep with or a you the kind of girl he wants to marry?" BTS is looking for love, and a person that loves themself not FAKE love. Blessings

11:35 I understand what you’re saying about celebrities attracting attention in public. That’s understandable and natural. The problem is that too many fans take it way too far and it turns into stalking… where they’ll pay for flight/hotel info, so they can book the same places… following them when they see a member outside….
JK went live one day while he was at his boxing gym, working out with his trainer. Obsessed people took that as a sign to go stand outside the gym. Mind you, this gym is very small, more like the size of a small store inside a mall.

With the 'mobbing' issue... when you know how much hate BTS have gotten over the years...and still do.. .it was more a safety issue than anything else... you never know who is going to rush out of that crowd and intend to do them harm... It's never that they don't want to be close to Army, it's not knowing who in the crowd 'Is' actually army and who are not.... Like many comments below, Army do try to stay at a reasonable distance at airports etc... and never impinge on their private time when they're travelling around... Nowdays BTS sometimes ask people not to go to the airports as they sometimes do go through the VIP entrances in some countries to avoid other travellers being impacted by the crowds... Yoongi literally runs through the airports when he's arriving/leaving so nobody else gets affected by him being there...
