Your comment ignores the reality of elite athletics. The Americans are not an elite rowing country. Period. Performance at an elite level requires focus, recruitment, support, technology and a whole series of factors. The bottom line is that American athletes are spread within a massive spectrum of sports, but concentrate on a few. Switzerland has done fantastically well in these rowing championships and they are tiny. Danish cyclists do extremely well but it’s a small country. Norway is absolutely dominant in cross country skiing but they are small. It’s all about focus and recruitment. As an American, I’ll just add one other thing. When you look into where these rowers go for university competition and education, it’s generally to America. The US is a breeding ground for some international marginal sports like rowing, but it varies by sport. So it’s not amazing that Romania wins here-they are the RETURNING WORLD CHAMPIONS. It’s what they concentrate on. What’s amazing is that they beat Australia and GBR, who also have major rowing development programs. If your monolithic population theory were even marginally useful, the PRC would win every sport, all the time…and India would be right behind. 😮 I’m very proud of how the American 8s roared back to win a silver here-they were underdogs and over-achieved! 🇺🇸
@@tommyrq180if you look at funding figures per programme the USA rowing team has 5 times the budget of the Romanian rowing team. If you look at the allocation of budget per crew the USA senior women’s 8 has 16x the budget of the Romanian crew…..
Whaaaat !? If only rowing you are referring to u might be right but also wrong as the US holds the most medal in rowing not to mention in other Olympic sports , most medals . The US hockey team won gold medal just a few weeks ago 💀alsl won in ice skating ,also won in gymnastics , still the world champs in wrestling . 😂💀idk what u are talking about 😂💀
The USA has a population greater than all those other countries combined so it's pretty amazing how Romania are the world champions.

USA achieved 3 consecutive Olympics Golds in the women's eight so that's really hard to beat
