I worked summer overtime to build a PC around this, way back in 2011. It was my return to PC gaming purely for CS, Skyrim and Crysis 1 and 2 to run those at decent FPS. Paired with an OC i5-2500k at around 4.5ghz - best PC i ever built. GOAT components. Still have the luminous green ram, CPU, GPU and Dark Rock CPU tower cooler (which cools my Xeon Unraid server for the last 5 years uptime...).
really interesting. I was strictly a console gamer around this time since I was a poor college kid, but it's impressive how far this card would have carried a gamer into the 2010's
I came from my 580 to a 6600xt…. And sometimes I think I barely upgraded but this humbled me I started with a 1030, so you can see how I’ve been gradually upgrading I’m about ready to finally get a 4070/3080 and I’m so ready. Or maybe an amd card if I want the extra Vram
Good video. One criticism though. Most of the games tested were games that came out within the GPUs prime. I'm not all that surprised that they still run today. Maybe throw in a few more 2023 games that aren't ultra optimized esport games like CS2.
Thank you! alot of the newer games wouldnt run, i had high hopes for stuff like Atomic heart as it can run in DX11 mode but i guess the drivers are too old, will keep that in mind for the HD 7850 video as it can manage Cyberpunk and atomic.
I owned a 570 GTX and that thing also ran pretty damn hot - I ended up having issues with the card and it constantly being timed out driver call errors no matter what I tried BIOS flashing etc etc. I had a i5 2500K quad core CPU alongside it
@@fennecRBX sure no problem i have gtx 1050 ti 8gb ram and i5 4460 and for some reason when i play whit more that 16 the game runs at 35-40 fps on every settings and cpu is not 100%

AIO cooler was sideways if anyone noticed due to a weird problem... the software for it needs full dx12 lol.
thanks for watching!
that is one weird ass requirement DX12 for the software lol, how the heck did they come up with that :D thx for the video!
@@burrfoottopknot weird indeed! thanks for watching!
Im still running a 960 today, right now in fact. Its the 4gb model, which is probably its only saving grace, and the reason for its versatility.
Great video, love to see smaller channels making interesting tech vids, keep it up!
Thank you!!

Enjoy your upcoming upgrade! Thanks for watching.
the gtx 580 had a chinese manufactured shroud with vrm heatsink towers protuding from it, truly the over-sized furnace of it's time

Yeah I Couldn’t find much online but my old 580 ran like 100 at minimum even after repasting and dusting the heat sink
I used to have the exact model.
Baked it like 5 times in the oven for years, it wanted to die but I said no.
