Great review by Stu, instead of just another G4 review of which there seems to be dozens, his was informative and picked up on its weakness and strengths. I just got my G4 today to replace a very slow Ring and immediately found myself wishing for the same features Stu mentioned. FOV is wider than needed but could do with being greater vertically especially when compared to Ring If I have it facing out into the sunlit street faces are a too dark. But the response is almost instantaneous which is the Ring killer, so I am more than pleased
Stu, i loved this video, very informative review and certainly gives food for thought for ring owners with a subscription renewal approaching.... However i must applaud you on your last few video thumbnail images.. Not sure what you have changed but you've elevated them to a new level 👌 keep it up! ... I love your channel!!
Thanks Andy, and really love that you’ve spotted the thumbnail changes! Thought I’d try something new this year, and it’s great to hear that you’re enjoying them!
3:42 - 13:33 * Until Aqara decide to do a Arlo (Netgear) and change the deal arrangements several years later and put it behind a paywall. It would be good to see this topic raised in future reviews Stu, as buyers need to be aware these things happen with Smart Tech.
Another great feature of this doorbell is that it has the option to be hardwired as well for power and the batteries can be used for back up emergency power!
Almost a great doorbell. Love Aqara stuff, have quite a bit of their kit. But the poor quality image and lack of RTSP is a bit of a deal breaker for me. The Reolink will be my next doorbell when stock is available again.
If you all are still taking questions I am wondering if this doorbell camera (or the whole group of them) will show a package that has been placed on my porch, possibly right under the doorbell camera. I would like to know if I am away that I have a package (maybe as small as an envelope) sitting on my porch. Thanks!
Hi there Are you aware Aqara has removed the forced dismantlement alarm toggle button from the settings, I was trying to change power source from battery to AC power but when I went to the settings, this button has been removed. Now can do this as the alarm will go off
Aaah Stu it has been a little while since I landed on one of you videos. Thanks for the review. I know now I'll have to wait for a weather proofed version. How is fatherhood treating you? Seems like yesterday you became a dad. They grow way to fast. 🙄 Only makes us realise how fast we grow old 🤣
Great vid😂 , Have you tried the reolink doorbell? Hard to get hold of in the UK but without doubt it's the best doorbell I've tried. From picture quality to integrations with HA it's superb I'd highly recommend one.
I haven’t! I’ve tested their security cameras though - the Argus range, which is great! HDR not brilliant on those… but has some features like Timelapse which no other company seems to want to include 😂
@@StusReviewsUK Funny you should say that. This morning i did a timelapse from my doorbell of the sun rising 😂 Another feature ive not seen on any other doorbell.
Excellent review sir. Really well done and lovely to see someone in the uk review the things I love regarding smart home tech. (Sub from me) great review with some entertainment through in, love it. 👍🏼
You could, but it would display sideways then in the app… 😂. You’d need it to support orientation changing within the app… so in theory they could do it with a software update 🤔
Love the video. Would love the doorbell, but apparently it's not yet released in Australia. I look forward to checking it out. I have G2 camera (the one before the cat one) and to be honest I haven't been able to do very much with it. But I do think it records every time I'm at the Front door (it's in the foyer) so if someone tries to kidnap me I guess it will provide clues. Or if someone breaks in, I'd have the footage in iCloud,. I guess. This thing has been a bit of a let down in that it doesn't really seem to do much even though I know that it could. Anyway, that's my issue. The doorbell though. That looks heaps more useful.
I’ve not used the g2, so I’m afraid I can’t comment, but the g3 is excellent! The person tracking is really useful too… not sure if you’ve seen my episode on it?
It's still a meh. I want the video recording more than 10 or 12 seconds or at least allow users to select the recording length. And then, the notification. Instead of just text notification, they should include the option to have snapshot of the event in the notification. And also, voice recording should be 2 ways when reviewing the video. I'm talking about while using the batteries instead of wired. My eufy 4k cctv and Google nest cam is for 24 hours recording. So, I don't care for the Aqara G4 to have 24 hours monitoring. And compared to my Ring Doorbell 2, the Aqara notification is slower than the Ring Doorbell 2. So, decided to sell off the Aqara G4 and instead replaced the Ring Doorbell 2 with Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) instead
Nope! We have one coming soon 👍 we’ve just slowed down in favour of standalone episodes this year, to try and get a better balance. Stay tuned, next one is REAL soon!
What about Android then??? Does it not work with that? :o If not this ain't for me I'm affraid since I don't have nor will have a iPhone or apple-thing-ama-jings!
@@StusReviewsUKardwired is fantastic if you already have have it but in to your house if you don’t then it involves bringing in a electrician. And if you rent you won’t be able to bring in a electrician to modify the house. It would have been a lot easier if they put in a rechargeable power pack like most other manufacturers

Amazing studio lighting and very nice video quality. Cognac collor 👍.
Stu and Paul joined at the hip. Great vid. Very funny. The strip was a little disturbing, though 😅
You should see the uncensored version. 🔥

I really like Aqara products as a whole, so I think I’ll hold out for the 2.0 version of this doorbell.
Ok.

It does you are right… but it’s rare…I think? 👁👄👁
I question how long the cloud storage will be free. but since it can also store locally on a SD thats a good feature.
Another great feature of this doorbell is that it has the option to be hardwired as well for power and the batteries can be used for back up emergency power!
I mentioned this! Not sure if you caught it, but I said ‘it had the option of being hardwired too, although I’ve powered mine through battery’
Seeing Paul Hibbert instantly got me to press like

Are you still using this? Thinking of returning to it since Ring has increased their subscription prices again.

I was trying to change power source from battery to AC power but when I went to the settings, this button has been removed. Now can do this as the alarm will go off
Hi Stu. Does this need a seperate Hub. I’m trying to decide between this and the EUfy
Ring does have a chime that can act as a relay, but it’s not included

Wondering if there is a way to have this unlock using face recognition in HomeKit?
For me the ip rating is a real bummer I have no cover but I hear some have success with it in the rain
Lagavullin, Laphroaig... You like smoky pleasures. 🤪
Laphroaig it's my favourite indulgence.
I do indeed! Lagavulin is mine 🥃
Belleketrek we call that here in Belgium.
Graham Chapman vibes in the opening

I think you’ve mistaken this episode for a review of the video. This is a review of product.
@@StusReviewsUK Um, OK. With the product being a video camera doorbell a little video would have helped. Nice paintball review however.
