I dont really want to test them ..because they are beautiful..have lasted a decades and bring me great joy

There might be many authentic pearls shops in Charminar which I didn't visit.I just wanted to make a point that lots of fake pearls are in market these days.I feel whatever looks good on you makes you feel good .I too believe in it.

A lot of info is good but some are incorrect. For example, naturally black Tahitian pearls are very expensive and valuable but dyed freshwater black pearls are not. The most valuable are South Sea Pearls which are gold or white and very large in size. Among freshwater pearls of the world, white and round are considered most valuable, with silver body colour on white considered the best. Quality is based on the shape, size, colour, absence of surface blemishes and importantly; lustre which is the reflectivity of the surface

Padmaja ji, I have bought from Krishna and Mangatrai and both were original pearls. But price is on the higher side. There are a lot of smaller shops which sell originals too but in all shops, we have to see the pearl and then only we can tell for sure regarding their quality. Look for good unblemished pearls with great reflectivity (lustre).
