Tbf custodes rules shouldn’t be as strong as others because they’ve already got so much power in their individual models (or should be strong enough that is).
The thing is, their stat lines were incredible before the index update for the FNP and they were 2nd or 3rd worst performing army in the game. With the Eldar/CSM nerfs it might not be as bad with dev wounds, but with all the other nerfs it’s not looking good
We literally saw what happened to Custodes with better rules than these at the start of the edition. They were a bottom tier army. Now they have worse rules. Their stat lines do not help them at their current cost.
@@thomasdivelbiss1302 to be fair one of the big reasons they where at the bottom was because they basically didn't have a detachment ability after dev wounds was changed. Besides at the start of the edition there where tons of factions at the bottom with bad rules, GW sorted most of them out so no reason to assume this is it for custodes.
I shall raise a glass in honor of your suffering Bridger! As well as to you fellow comrades of Custodes! 🍺 I have simply enjoy this hobby best by collecting the "cool" models that interest me and not worry about TTG unless my roommate wants a casual P4Fun match on weekends. Recent events from GW has really been quite concerning in making further investments in this hobby. 😨😥
The problem(s) with the codex goes in so many directions thats is barely possible to keep it short. Basically the only good things to me are the female custodes in the lore and the names of the detachments. But there it stops. While it makes some fluffy sense for a sister detachment, its waaaay far too stretched to work from a hobby or gameplay perspectives. There are 2 kits for its… i would love a sisters detachment but then highlight them in the edition and give them like 2 or 3 new models (bikers, lone operative assassins, apothecaries, jumppack ones; there are so many possibilities). How the rules are written (apart from talons which makes theoretically makes sense but is still kinda weak) Custodes don‘t feel like Custodes. The concept of Auric Champions could have been sooo great. It would have made them in a way even closer to lore. These unstoppable arcanealchemic machines but countable in numbers by 2 hands. But the dissonance in design and fluff is just way to big. It looks like it was just randomly compiled by AI with no real ludonarrative direction.
Please guys don’t buy this book. This is a total scam. They had the rules written since the start of the edition and they don’t bother updating them with their own balance patches.

What's up with the hyper optimism? If it smells like shit, it's probably shit.
Ok then, i'm looking for melee army as my secondary army.
My first choice is custodes.
Now, after i see this....
Do i should trust in custodes or start to build Obeisance Phalanx(Necron) or Annihilation legion as my melee one instead
( My main army is necron but i built it to range army)
You can try world eaters, Khorne or slaanesh Daemons, orks, blood angels
@@EliteDarkAssassin Any recommendation for 1000p Daemon khone?
I think if I go for Khone, i'll buy Combat patrol /skull taker and Be'la kor.
Any recommended?
@@mydiary5865 so I have a 1k Khorne army, it's a:
bloodthirster
Blood master
Skull taker
2x bloodletters
1x6 blood crushers
1x5 flesh hounds.
So it's the CP, a bloodthirster, and 3 more blood crushers and a skulltaker.
I just read Changeling's skill.
That dude is so interesting.
I think I will put him in instead of skull taker.
Custodes is essentially hero hammer, 3x Blade Champions with their warden body guard, 1x Captain to sit with some guard on an objective, 1x grav tank and allarus for days
Dark Angels, Admech and now Custodes?
For the emperor, like Cadia, we stand strong Bridger and my fellow custodians.
shield captain on jetbike, sweeping advance is not the same.
it now requires the unit to have fought that phase to activate.
"A lot of different opinions about it" is a really interesting description of universal despair and anger lololol.
Vertus Praetors doing 2 mortal wounds when flying over a unit on a 2+ hurts when you know the 100pt Eldar Hornet gets 6 dice and on a 4+
I can feel your pain bro...literally ear the hurt in your voice
Allarus Can arrive turn 1. See FAQ.
Arriving from Strategic Reserves in the First Battle Round:
Abilities that allow units to be set up in the Reinforcements step of your first, second or third Movement phase using the Strategic Reserves rules treat the current battle round number as being one higher than it actually is in the first battle round only, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Small comment on Shield Host, You do get BOTH benefits when you pop it, you don't pick between them!
The thumbnail for this video looks like it says Adeptus Lustodes. Makes me think they're the Emperor's Escorts.😂
Am I right in thinking that in tournaments you can only use codex datasheets? If so where is the anti tank shooting coming from for custodes?
You can take imperial armour units. The anti tank shooting comes from grav tanks
@@AngryAcolyte oh cool I thought it was restricted to codex datasheets at tournaments, that's okay then
I'll do my part to play as many games as possible just to contribute to having a sub 40% win rate.
really wish the landraider said "12 anathema or 6 custodian" might of helped the sisters be a bit more viable but /shrug
Archeotech Amunition on a 5+1 Allarus Squad with ignore Cover Enhancement. You wreck Knights etc in shooting alone and a 20 brick of necrons will puff with sustained. Before you killed a Knight in one combat Phase with 5+1 and Slayer of Tyrants. Now you pop this, glad my Termies still work 😆
Banana boys got wrecked
Cool, we got a new Sisters detachment...Prosecutors aren't Battleline anymore and the new missions will emphasize that slot
Don't mind me, I'm just here for the salt
so they condensed games workshop and forgeworld to have them under one website but they still don't put those models in the main codex? -_-
So, you might be unaware, but they are still very much different Business Units who are on bad terms with eachother.
At the current rate, "mainline" GW has an incentive to make FW less and less of a thing, with plausible deniability.
If you want more info, Honest Wargamer (it is an AoS channel, but still he has good GW info) has a video on it.
I am happy in this book the got rid of the "if you play melee armies into custodes you just lose rules". like tons of fight first mechanics but they should of added buffs elsewhere.
"I think he is..."fine".."
"I think it is fine, it is..okay?"
"It is like a salad..without garnish.."
You look like you are looking at pictures of dead classmates when you look at the nerfed character sheets.
2 minutes in and already talking about a needed FAQ is not a great sign lol
Why people still supports this company is beyond is comprehension
You made me a bit more hopeful for the mixed detachment rules honestly. If they give us back our Dev wounds resist then I think that'll be the detachment for me.
But what does he think about the Female Custodes being cannon…?
“Put a chick in it and make it lame!”
-Eric Cartman as Kathleen Kennedy
Art of War thinks the Null Maiden Vigil is the worst detachment in the game, and that it isn't close.
Cannot make +1str and ap strat free since you have an enemy unit as a target the strat aswell. Cpt only lets you 0CP which targets your unit
So best unit in book is a rhino?
There are the new rules for the combat patrol?
Yes. In the book before the army rules
Man, I just spent like 2 grand on a new custodes army. Much sadness
I have three or four copies of Trajanns mini 😂
So basically nobody buys this and everyone keeps playing with the old rules?
That's what I'm doing. F**k this codex
Well said!
First time I've seen the book cover that closely. Even that looks bad. It looks like someone is cosplaying a Custode using boxes that were folded a little and sprayed gold.
As a Death Guard player, you have my condolences sir. 10th edition is just cold wet garbage all around. This is the Christmas we all got brussel sprouts instead of the firetruck we asked for. 😕
Custodes 14 shield captains vs 13 war dog match
Good job Bridger. Like to here y'all opinions on the Codexs in these videos
It feels bad when a codex changes so much from the index, for sure. But I think Custodes will be okay. Their stat lines are still incredible.
What happened here? How did this come out at the same time as the Ork codex?
new to 40K on the table top and I just finished my Custodes army.
I see why we love the hobby but hate GW now.
As a DA player I feel your pain. Seems GW’s chef for this codex has the same idea with regard to removing flavor from Armies.
I shall raise a glass in honor of your suffering Bridger! As well as to you fellow comrades of Custodes! 🍺
I have simply enjoy this hobby best by collecting the "cool" models that interest me and not worry about TTG unless my roommate wants a casual P4Fun match on weekends. Recent events from GW has really been quite concerning in making further investments in this hobby. 😨😥
Games workshop is dead to me.
Look at me! Look at me... You are the T'au now.
Please guys don’t buy this book. This is a total scam. They had the rules written since the start of the edition and they don’t bother updating them with their own balance patches.
Admech: Trash
T’au: not great, but at least fun
Custodes: somewhere between Admech and T’au
C’mon World Eaters you’re my last chance for an army with a good codex

I am looking forward to seeing my Golden Boys with a 25% win rate very soon! This book is an absolute travesty!
I have never seen anyone sweat so hard, trying to be positive, but knowing its aaaaaaal fucked. I laughed so much wathcing that poor guy sweat!
I’m trying to stay positive. Every single detachment suck. There really isn’t silver lining. AND they are more expensive.
I don’t know who to play and lose with, my Custodes or Marines.
Saw this and put my custode list up for sale. RIP.
They wrote this codex the 1 april ....
Also A real stinker. DA and Ad mecha were bad, but they had a build. The DA were not very DA tanks and ad mecha costs 1200$ . Custodes have nothing. DA axes at d4 good? With -1 AP? Mathemathicly axes are still worse the halbards
So GW wants us to put in more....diversity?
is it just me or does he seem like he's holding back tears and trying to be upbeat about the codex?
Shilling is hard sometimes 😔
I do not miss 40K at all…. But I do miss watching Titans every week.
I put on a backtrack because it was pretty sad to watch without something like lo-fi or something, dw bridger have hope the blood angels book looks better than this
as a custodes players first thing is first i dont play competitively so i cant say much about that but i been waiting for this hero hammer side of the army and i finally get the try and play this side of the army i am very hype about this BUT as a custodes player i also understand the doom and gloom and its hard to see what was and what is now but it can be fixed it seems but i also understand the frustration that some mite have. i think it sums it up about the general opinions on the book, as this review took not even half as long as the ork one which was sitting right next to this video the whole time, its sad i see the frustration but some times armys will be good and sometimes they will be bad do what you can and just have fun with it run arround with like 12+ solo chara and see what happens XD maybe it will all work out XD.
That it’s needs to be FAQ’ed shows the need of a digital live rule set. Books need to go, it’s like battle pass games. We see customers who bought, painted, invested time suffering under this hyper capitalism...
