Glad this got a review! The Kanken sling is my favorite EDC bag. Easy access, looks good worn on the front or back, and enough space for daily carry items! The material really softens up after more use too. Side pockets are great for storing an AirTag!
I bought a Kanken Sling for an overseas trip a few months ago and it was perfect to carry my essentials while traveling (wallet, phone, iPad mini, sunglasses...) Now I'm looking at purchasing a second one in a different colour! I used the side pockets to carry a small hand sanitiser bottle and my asthma pump - also tried having pens in there. As for the difficulty opening the main compartment - I folded back the flaps to allow easy access to the zips. Can confirm that the bag does soften up over months of regular use.
bought this bag 8 months ago and I love it! I use it as my main everyday/camera bag and it's perfect for what I need. I put chapstick/ medicines/ cards in the very front, my camera/ earphones/ journal/ passport in the main compartment, pens/lipliner/eyeliner in the sides, and my kindle or phone in the back. I actually enjoy that the zips are a little tricky to open because it makes me feel like my stuff is a bit more secure, plus I can lock the zips if I'm carrying my camera somewhere with pickpockets. Like the rest of the kanken line the material softens up a bit when you use it a lot, and I find the zips don't get caught in the corners so much anymore. I've brought it with me almost everyday on my commute, to a festival, hiking, and travelling around 2 countries in south america so far with no issue come rain or shine. plus it's super cute, this bag does it all for me :)
I love this as my everyday bag! It being squared off makes it much more usable space than most purses of similar size. I use the side pockets for pens and a multitool.
I have a limited edition art colorway in a more soft and flexible material. It seems that material choice was a main issue for this, so I didn't run into those issues
I use one side pocket for hand sanitizer and the other for pens. To easily access the larger front compartment, I just fold back the material covering the double zippers.
I use the side pockets for pens, hand sanitizer or pocket knife. I actually find this sling easy to organize my things. Got my phone on the back compartment, airpods on the front, coin purse and keys in the main compartment. I’ve added zipper pulls to make it easier to zip and unzip the main compartment’s zippers.
Great review. I might have held off on my purchase had I seen your review before I ordered it. All of what you said is spot on. I just fold back the big flap of the main zipper for easier everyday access (although when traveling the flap does add a layer of protection against theft). I did cut the handles. I won't use them and they got in the way of quick access to the main compartment. Glad to see the other comments on the material softening up, on what to put in the tiny side pockets and adding zipper pulls. Still a bit disappointed that Fjallraven went for form rather than function.
got one of these when they were first released, loved it but ended up going up to a mini.. and eventually to a full size kanken, still love all of them though
I am so torn in wanting one of these for the cross body feature but knowing it will be too small for what I need. I am probably going to stick with my mini kanken backpack
Would you guys do a review of Rei Co-op Travel Organizer? I've been searching for a thorough review of it like you guys always do but I can't seem to find it.
The person in the video wears glasses and has a hard time coming up with something to use the side pockets for. Can they not be used to store glasses / sunglasses?
Ngl this was such a bad negative review. I have the mini and laptop version of the kanken and all the points you said can also be said about those as well. I have napkins on the side pockets of the mini and hold pens there. Yea it’s small, but you go into the backpack literally knowing that. I’m not going to dock it just because the pockets are “hard” to open when it clearly has a protective flap over it. Then don’t try or get backpacks that have that flap over the zipper. The bigger backpack is easier to pack because it’s bigger, shocker. This is for someone that doesn’t carry a lot of items and doesn’t want to carry a whole backpack. Idk, I watch this channel a lot but this one left a bad taste. It was all negative but you can clearly see in the comments that people love it
The tiny bottle pockets work well as pen holders or even for long snackbars
just don't have a pen bust or break on you...

This is perfect for my sketchbook, watercolors and brushes. Thank you for sharing.

I use mine as a watercolor travel art kit bag....holds everything I need perfectly.

The side pockets are perfect for my multi tool and a knife to clip into-also makes it easy access.

I put my eye drops in one side pocket and my pepper spray with the key ring sticking out on the other. Key ring helps me pull it out super fast.

Do the kanken hip pack review! Great video 😊
I really liked this video, thank you so much.

I tuck the strap into the side slit pocket either one I fold the strap then tuck it in
Good to know that ut fits in there!

what a good review!!!!
Thanks for watching! 😃
i really like that color but super concerned about color transfer as it rubs against jeans!
I wish this bag had the top opening zipper like the kanken totepack. The square shape of the regular kankens just gets on my nerves.
Tucking your long shoulder strap in the side pockets, fold it up stick it in the sides
Cute bag
Great video 📹 👍
Protein bars in the side pockets maybe
Hand sanitiser maybe

The person in the video wears glasses and has a hard time coming up with something to use the side pockets for.
Can they not be used to store glasses / sunglasses?
