      Thanks Michael - we know it's pretty basic for many existing EV drivers, but lots of our customers have no idea how this stuff works, so hopefully it's a little insight into charge scheduling. Thanks for watching.

    Do we know if there is a way within the Wallbox app to change the Kw/h rate to my overnight rate between 00:30-04:30 and then change back to my regular rate outside of these hours? I have cheaper electricity with Octopus during those hours and would like to see it reflected in the stats. At present all I can see is an option for one rate only which is not a true reflection of what I’m being charged. Thanks in advance!

    Great review guys. Quick question, on my Model 3 do I switch off the scheduled charging? So theres nothing scheduled in the car, but the Wallbox is plugged into the car and I have a schedule set up on the Wallbox app? Also if in the winter, I want to warm the car up 30mins before we leave in the morning... if its still plugged in will the car be able to draw off the power supply to warm up even though its outside of the Wallbox app schedule (12.30-4.30am)?

      Hi Andy - yes, you should make sure any scheduling is off in your Tesla as this can conflict with the schedule on your Wallbox.
      For pre-conditioning your vehicle using the Wallbox, you will need to do two things:
      1. Turn on the climate control using your Tesla app
      2. Tell the Wallbox to start charging the vehicle via the app. You'll need to do this manually, as the app won't kickstart a charge on its own outside of any schedule you've set up.
      This should then draw power from the mains to warm up your Model 3 and subsequently the battery.
      That's how I do it with my Tesla (and the Ohme charger), so can only assume this is the best option for other products. Hope that helps.
      Thanks for watching.

    Does this have the ability to lock the charger for non-added vehicles? As in the owner's cars just plug in, but noone else can use it...

    My power rates change every hour and no two days are alike. I'd like to set up a general charge schedule to 23-05 (as that is generally the cheaper hours), but then - when ever I remember - overrule the schedule with a specific schedule for that night. Do I need to change my settings back and forth or can I temporarily disable one schedule and enable another?

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately the Wallbox cannot respond to changes in electricity prices automatically. For that, you'd be looking at a charger that syncs with your energy tariff such as the Ohme Intelligent Wall Charger.

    Ive been setting up a scheduled charge for the night. Normally for 00:30-0430. There is no scheduled charge setup on the car and Wallbox is connected to the internet and has a blue tooth connection when setting up the scheduled charge. However, it never starts, the box and app just stays in ‘scheduled’. Any ideas on why the charge is happening? I end up having to set an alarm for 1am to check and set off a manually charge. The most recent charge setup and checked by the Wallbox support team, and they confirmed they could see the scheduled charge, but again it didn’t start. Any thoughts?

      Hello - sorry to hear about this. It is very hard to say. If we had completed your installation then we might be able to investigate or work with Wallbox to find a solution, but ultimately it is Wallbox that needs to resolve this for you or your original installer.
      Sorry I can't be of help, but there are many variables here that could result in this issue.

    Hi we plugged in the charger at 6pm to come on next morning at 00.30 to 04.30am. The car charged but the stats showed it started on the evening at 6pm for 4hrs 50mins. There are not stats for the next morning. We followed instructions and the schedule clearly shows everyday at 00.30- 04.30.??

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is correct. The Wallbox app has a quirk where it times the "charge" from the point it is plugged in, instead of when it started charging. Annoying, admittedly, but it's not an error.
      Hopefully this is something Wallbox will address in a future update.

    Say I'd like to set up charging during the night before a weekday, for 6 hours starting at 23:00 ... Do I select Mon-Fri or Sun-Thurs?

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I understand your question correctly (i.e. you don't want to charge overnight at weekends, but you want the vehicle charged ready for every weekday), then you would select Sunday through to Thursday. For example, the charging will start at 11pm on Sunday night but will carry on into Monday morning until 5am.

    Does it connect via Bluetooth (no remote connection possible, I assume), WiFi via established network (access point), direct phone to charger WiFi, or ..?

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We answer this in our review of the Wallbox here :)
      th-cam.com/video/4atwXm_F7js/w-d-xo.html
      But it does connect to your phone via Bluetooth. However this is only for short range control and initial pairing. You need to connect to home WiFi in order to control it remotely or for the charge point to receive firmware updates which can be very important.

    If I use the app to lock the Wallbox to prevent unauthorised use, will this prevent scheduled charging? Or will the Wallbox unlock itself, do the scheduled charge, then return to a locked state?

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great question. I'm not 100% sure if the locking feature affects the schedules or how it does, but I would imagine your scheduled charge will continue as normal.
      If you have a scheduled charge set up, though, this should prevent unauthorised use without the need for the lock. This is because the Wallbox is waiting for the scheduled time to start a charge and it will not start charging any vehicle until that time unless you manually start a charge through the app.
      Thanks for watching.

      @@SmartHomeCharge Hi Danny - here's feedback. I experimented and worked out that locking the Wallbox prevents scheduled charging. Leaving it unlocked allows the schedule to proceed and also prevents out-of-schedule charging (as you suggested) unless overridden by a manual command from the app. It looks like locking overrides all functions regardless of whether a schedule is set.

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@arasuashok Hi Ashok, that's great to hear you got to the bottom of it. Glad the scheduling worked as I thought it should, but the lock confirmation from you is really helpful. Thank you.

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like it may have been a used or refurbished unit that is still registered with the previous owner. You'll need to contact Wallbox to ask them to unlink it from the previous owner, so you can pair it to your own app.

      Hi Chris, thanks for your comment. It's very hard for us to work out what might be happening remotely. We don't work with the original Pulsar, either. I would recommend going direct to Wallbox to resolve this issue.

    • @SmartHomeCharge
      @SmartHomeCharge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@phil9361 It's a great point. It depends how the app interprets this i.e. does it stop at 2am the next morning or 2am the following Saturday!
      I have to be honest, I have not encountered this as an issue so I cannot be certain. It should be possible but may require a little test to be. I suspect just selecting Saturday is the way to go, but it may be worth contacting Wallbox direct to double check what they suggest.

    If you tell the car to charge to a maximum of 90% , does the wallbox listen to this and stop at 90%?

      Yes, in this scenario the car is always in control. Any charging or schedule settings you may set in the vehicle will effectively override the settings on the EV charger.
