    When I think of aging hands, I think of my grandmother and how she’d place her hand on top of mind. I adored her hands, they were soft and pale, and a bit crepey, and yeah, she had some age spots here and there. But I thought they were beautiful. My hands are looking more and more like my mother’s, with more prominent veins and knuckles, and I loved her hands too-so agile and capable and, in my mind, “grown up.” So I don’t worry too much about aging hands. I keep mine soft with low-cost hand creams that absorb easily into my skin, and when I use facial serums and moisturizers I always pat the excess on my fingers to the back of my hands. But I don’t despair that my hands are aging because I really think aging hands are beautiful.

      Love this. I’ve been team crepe-eyelids for years because I truly believe the texture is beautiful. It’s like facets of a jewel! I’m all for keeping my skin as healthy as possible, but I also want to embrace signs of wisdom and experience. Youth isn’t the goal or the beauty standard. Healthy aging is also lovely.

    Can't help but hear the phrase "my brows are my concern" and think of the line in Lawrence of Arabia, "my fear is my concern." Kosas was trying to strand Hannah in a desert of paranoia about her brows and she refused to let them.

    For those of a more advanced age than Hannah, who are beginning to experience crepey skin on the hands, I heartily recommend Gold Bond Ultimate Crepe Corrector. It’s cheap, unscented (at least to my pathologically picky nose), and really works. And not just over time-as soon as I apply it, my hands look better. And it’s not greasy. (I promise I don’t work for them-I’m just so surprised to find a hand lotion that works after searching for years. 😊)

      Also important is sunscreen, often. If you are using retinol, use it on the back of the hands too.

    I’m an RN who has lived in a desert for 20 years. Good hand lotion has become a bit of an obsession. I use a big tub of Cerave beside my bed every night. Not because it’s affordable, just because it works. It doesn’t have silicones- so it’s not greasy. And no fragrance. Great stuff. Also, they do make the tubs with a pump so you don’t get it under your nails which I like better. A bit harder to find. I order online from the big retailer that starts with A :-0, if I can’t find it in store.

    • @jnl3564
      @jnl3564 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I also live in the desert and I have dry skin. After years of trying I have concluded that lotion actually makes my skin drier. Chapstick and lip balm too. I honestly don't know what I'm doing differently.

    I’ve been going through so many of your videos. It’s been perfect timing, I’ve cleared through my wardrobe to find a new equilibrium. I’ve re-ironed and de-bobbled so many of my clothes, I’ve put away lots of clothes that are not in use at the moment and only put out in my wardrobe the things that I would wear right now. I’ve cleaned out each of my handbags, and put leather balm on them, same with my shoes. I have not bought one new thing and I’m utterly in love with my wardrobe. Thank you so much for the inspiration to shop my own home.

    What helped me take better care of my hands was simply putting hand lotion only on the backs of my hands, like squeezing the dollop onto the back of my hand, and then rubbing only the backs of my hands together. Looks like an awkward motion, but prevents the palms from getting lotiony which I hate! Same goes for hand sunscreen

      The backs of my hands get irritated way easier in the cold because of old scars I have there, and YES this works so well when you're wfh and want something to take care of your hands while you type away (I also use a tiny bit of my Cicaplast serum on the backs of my hands in the morning)

  • @aminaa5824
    @aminaa5824 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    6:01 if you put a light lotion next to your hand wash and put on a tiny bit after hand washing (tiny tiny dollop on already damp hands after you towel dry them, and rub it in properly) it really helps me because I always hated the greasy feeling but if you do it this way, your hands don’t feel like they have lotion, they just feel not dry, also doing it after you wash your hands is ideal since that’s the time you are stripping the oil from your hands and if you accidentally used too much lotion, you can re towel dry your hands just to remove the excess and that’s it! This is also the time I use a little oil on my nails so if you’re a nail person, that also helps, (I got this from ‘the salon life’ on TH-cam)

  • @threadsketch7267

    OK, that Dermelect hand treatment sounds like absolute perfection to my ears - I also viscerally hate the feeling of greasy hands, to the point that I'll let them crack and bleed in the winter before I finally cave to moisturizing them. That's definitely on my radar for winter skin care!

    That reminds me, I want to try the product called: “Gloves In A Bottle,” as well as the Glamnetics magnetic lashes that attach via their magnetic liquid liner, they have the smaller ones to go on the outer corners kinda like that. Also for hand care, I highly recommend investing in one of those wax melting things to do “hand masks” to moisturize your hands by dipping your hands in the melted wax, letting it cool off, and just sit there for like 10 minutes before removing. I did that once at my friend’s bridal shower like 6 or 7 years ago, and it’s been in the back of my mind to keep doing wherever I get around to getting that myself.❤

    For my hands, I generally use the excess from my face skincare on my hands! It's a nice way to incorporate a little skincare for my hands without having to think about it, plus it means that in the morning I get some SPF on my hands. I also like the CeraVe lotion for during the day; I get the travel-size tube to keep in my pocketbook.

  • @fluffypopsicle

    I occasionally use the under-lash system Lashify and I highly recommend it. They are almost undetectable and they come in different colors and sizes. They aren't cheap! But I have been really happy with my results and I'm not normally a person who enjoys complicated beauty products and routines! I know I sound like an ad but I'm a real person, I swear! A person with teensy light colored lashes who has trouble with mascara raccoon eyes.

    • @morgantaylor517
      @morgantaylor517 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The only kind of mascara I can use is tubing mascara. Everything else gives me racoon eyes, even waterproof mascara. It's the worst, tubing mascara doesn't add much volume or anything, I might look into Lashify.

    • @fluffypopsicle
      @fluffypopsicle ปีที่แล้ว

      @@morgantaylor517 I tried tubing too. It doesn't stay on my lashes; it comes off after about 4 hours. There's a definite learning curve with Lashify (the first time I tried it, the lashes fell off overnight) but after about 3-4 tries I got it.

    I also really don't like my hands feeling greasy, but the backs of my hands get really dry and cracked. To solve this....I only put lotion on the backs of my hands. I put the dollop or product on the back and one hand and then just rub the backs together. Product never needs to get on the palms of my hands :) it's great.

    I have veryyyyyy dry skin. I usually have to use a thick occlusive layer over my entire body, face, and hands after applying moisturizer. I had to learn to accept that I’d be greasy and sticky all the time but no more!! Lately I’ve been using cerave from the tub on my body and face, and it’s helping so much. I’ve tried other ceramide products but this is the one that’s worked. Keeps my skin more moisturized than any other standalone product I’ve ever tried. Also lasts for 3-4 months even with my heavy full body and face use. Not paid by them but I was even gifted one of the same giant tubs of it from my local pharmacy bc I have been buying it consistently the past year hehe 🤭

    Omg Hannah, the texture and finish of the Prisme Libre Green Corrector is NEXT LEVEL (I bought it bc of your rec, and have never loved a corrector more, as a similarly fair human, but the Natasha Denona RN1 is my true shade).
    As for the Auric lip balms, I really struggle with the stone applicators… like, is it even possible to ethically source jade or rose quartz (I’m pretty sure it’s not, unless the stone is a product of recycling 😢).
    I really want to try it, but just finished watching a documentary on the Madagascan mining industry… and can’t bring myself to do it, especially as the stone is “single use” with the product 😬

  • @beckyshaknovich7554
    @beckyshaknovich7554 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For the surrat concealer, I think because it is a makeup artist brand, the idea behind it might be that you can use this full coverage concealer to spot conceal over the sheer, dewy foundation. It doesn’t make sense to have a sponge applicator if you’re meant to use a tiny dot. To make it work, I was going to suggest mixing the two for color. You already thought of that, though. If you want to try to make the texture work, you could use a fix plus type spray on your brush or sponge to blend it out. A wet sponge with spray would probably give the best result to make it work on the under eye

    Just wanted to share my experience using brow and lash serum, specifically the GrandeBrow and GrandeLash products. I was hesitant to begin using them for multiple reasons....they're super expensive, they're a commitment in terms of routine, and I didn't know if it would even work! I have been using them for a few years now and can't imagine not. They definitely work, so I feel like the high cost is somewhat justified and certainly less risky now. You have to use them every day for several months to notice a difference, and the difference is very noticeable. I no longer have to wear any makeup in my brows to make them look thicker. After you achieve your results, you can use every other day. Both products have a narrow brush which makes painting it on very easy.
