I love the return to the budget scx24 build. I gave my niece and nephew a Basecamp for Christmas and this helps me decide what to do with their upgrades. For a 6 and 9 year old this is the perfect build. Makes me want to pick one up for myself. A buddy just picked up a pink Basecamp and we're planning to hit the backyard course tomorrow!
I think an upgrade that's often missed is some CVD style axel shafts. Much stronger and don't come apart like the stock ones. Trim the axel housing some and you get a good increase on turning angle too. Budget often means getting more creative, and that's the fun part of this hobby, in my opinion. Great build, might have to do a budget build as well soon.
Yeah I think this is often missed. All the brass and suspension is nice but it doesn’t mean much if you can’t keep the front end on course. Also rigs that struggle with modulation, a double underdrive is a big helper. Small ratio in front and bigger in the rear to help pull itself around
@joseaponte2829 i got the OGRC ones. I still need to trim my axel housings a bit better, but ibcan see why they make a big difference. Much sturdier too
I just bought one as my very first rc car/truck, I absolutely love it! So far I've put 43mm shocks and a new servo. Looking forward to more videos on the Base Camp, I want to see how far I can take the build. Great video, and thank you for helping me learn in this hobby🤘
This whole build has been floating in my mind for a while due to it being so light and capable in stock form. Thank you and look forward to the next one on this.
Great Base Camp video Adam. I enjoyed watching the new upgrades you installed on the scx24. I saw those sales on horizon hobby i should've got them. What i did for my white Base Camp i put the scx24 oil shocks from the Jeep JLU stock location with 4mm preload clips, i put the Proline Trenchers 56mm tire combo. And raise up the front body mount 1 notch. Yeah i definitely need some weight up front and rear too. Thank you for making this video. I like cool upgrades.
The price-to-performance is really good. I am impressed. If I could do my build over, I wouldn't have gotten the TRX4M. I would just build one from parts, because that's what I ended up with anyway.
👍👍 super cool, I just got my new HPI Marty McFly pick up truck Toyota just put 20% overdrive gears in the front man. What a difference love this truck got the black with brushless. It is sweet and I put my mofo one ups rims with black label tires haven’t got to test out on my buddies course yet couple of little rocks. I have here in my living room, climbed right up and over.
Long live the scx24! 😂 Good job on the build! I think no matter what happens in the comming dual between it and the cr18, I would rather have 2 Basecamps than 1 truck that... doesn't look like anything in real life. Buddy wheeling is a blast! That said, it looks like Lil' Blue will be able to hold his own against the juice up.
Adam brother it’s time to do a course rebuild or refresh. I see it needs a little bit of paint and some traction. You’ve mentioned it a few times in your videos. It’s about that time, brother.
Nice build! It turned out great, but I think brass wheels, tires, oil-filled shocks, and boom, you're done (most people). The rest will eke out the last bit of performance, but it all depends on your intended use. Great video, I appreciate that you include measurable gains.
Yeah, those black label tires I just put on my HPI Toyota Marty McFly truck mounted up on mofo one ups they are performing great I’ll even know more once I get it on a course
For $15 on amazon snagged me the brushless kit. Keep us posted if you find the gearing helps or one of those cheap am32 esc's fix it. New to the brushless world.
Depends on which model scx24 you have. If you have the newer spektrum electronics you will not need a new radio. If you have the blue box esc/receiver, you will need to upgrade your radio setup. The first generation setups, like what comes on the deadbolt, will also work with this.
@@CapeCrawlershow about here with the base camp. Did you need to use a new receiver? And if so isn’t that an invested not taken into consideration on the overall budget here in this build?
Hey man! Love the videos you made me get back into rc and picked up an scx24 bronco and already spent way too much! 😂 would you ever consider doing a long travel cheat code v3 or even a vengrc gatekeeper chassis? I was throwing around the idea with putting the powerhobby 58’s no springs of course on it for the sole reason that it would look absolutely badass! performance wouldent be optimal but the only things thats been stopping me is not knowing if a real purpose built comp chassis can even flex that much? might be a dumb question but the only way to know is to ask right? Lol
Never had any interest in the SCX24 platform.. but I kinda want to get a Basecamp and do a “setting up camp”/budget style build like Crawler Canyon and yourself
Like to see if you can find a better ESC for that motor somebody said they use Dinky rc esc and they said it is almost perfect. If you can tell something, please post.
Whats up bro love the content🤘🏼🤘🏼 by any chance can you do a fcx18 lc80 upgrade video? 🙌 same thing $100 😅. Once again love the videos keep on keeping on! 🤘🏼

I actually missed this style of video from you. Keep it up!!!

Yeah I was thinking about those cvd stock axles with more angle turning radius from Little Guy Racing Parts. For the scx24 for my next move.
@joseaponte2829 i got the OGRC ones. I still need to trim my axel housings a bit better, but ibcan see why they make a big difference. Much sturdier too
No matter how many videos I've watched, I still enjoy footage of that indoor course every time. 👌🏽
I just got an SCX24 last month and your channel has been a huge help👍
Glad to hear that!
I really like that they are starting to do pink trucks. My daughter loves it just as much as my son.

The heavy wheels are one of the best upgrades imo. Made a huge difference on my build. I definitely will start there on any future builds
$40-$50 it better be a good upgrade!
This whole build has been floating in my mind for a while due to it being so light and capable in stock form. Thank you and look forward to the next one on this.
Interesting challenge !
I still believe the "Juice Up" is a better choice for the same price, but maybe i'll be surprised.😉
Handles surprisingly well with just the shock relocation 💯 Great little 4x4 + Thanks 4 the video
Solid discount scores on the upgrades and significant gains. What a solid budget build!
That receiver is massive

Awesome video. Just what I needed for my basecamp
nice video . thanks for taking time out of your day to inform and entertain us all . above all though , keep having FUN ! 👍
I'm super glad about your content change bro awesome to see you doing stuff you want to
Good vid I’m considering buying a base camp
Makes me want to get a base camp. Been working on my JLU scx24 recently. Love your videos man!

Yeah, that was impressive up hell‘s gate it wanted it at the top👍👍

Very nice looking RC truck 👍👍👍👍
that was awesome 👌👍👍 nice upgrades and fantastic course 👍👍👍😀😎
Throw the rear diff cover on and with the remaining budget get an overdrive gear for the front
I’ve been toying with doing this for my first scx build I’ve already got wheels and tyres from my other rigs
Yeah, those black label tires I just put on my HPI Toyota Marty McFly truck mounted up on mofo one ups they are performing great I’ll even know more once I get it on a course
Im going to have to look up videos on just oil vs friction shock up grade or just wheels etc. One pice at a time.
Great vid
I think ima have to buy one

These just went up $20 here in Canada. At least at my local shop. Good thing I already bought 2. 😂
I just got an scx24 gladiator and i was wondering if the bumper off the basecamp would fit on the gladiator, thanks
Could someone please help me understand. If you use this ESC/brushless motor combo would you also have to invest in a new remote/transmitter?

@@arielmedina3061 he didn't need to replace the receiver in this one, motor/esc was a direct drop-in replacement
@@Patty__007 so you can use this ESC and motor with the stock controller that comes with the basecamp?
@@arielmedina3061 yes
Does that motor mount directly to the stock transmission?
Yes it does
Pound for pound that cr18p juice up is way better!
Could you do a h10 optic budget build
Would the Pro Line Jeep XJ fit this scx24?
I just got that too for 15 bucks yeah
Howdy👊

Please do a scx24 Lexus build

The motor/ESC combo seemed to pulse keeping from smooth control. And not to be judgy, but it looks like it time to refresh your course
The course is in rough shape! I am going to revamp it this spring
Whats up bro love the content🤘🏼🤘🏼 by any chance can you do a fcx18 lc80 upgrade video? 🙌 same thing $100 😅. Once again love the videos keep on keeping on! 🤘🏼
At this point, in this price range, I think manufacturers should just do oil shocks lol.
Can you get the new LMT megalodon?
Yes I will!
Juced up version will smoke that thang for $159 w/ coupon code! Then add wheels/tires to it for $40 = $200 GAME OVA Great vid as always!
I would remove the body post mounts and battery tray. I bet that would get you 60/40
Good morning
The firma kit is better for a trail rig
Agreed
the Firma motor is good. The esc is garbage. i got mine paired up with a different esc (goupRC is the brand) but it slow crawls like a champ.
Darn it 😠 they only ship the combos to Canada and the US
You needed the diff cover in the back to
Plastic surgery 😂
Gift kar do
For that Basecamp in Australia double that price to $200.. then whatever upgrades might then cost..
Fms is king axial is old news 🗞️!!!!😅
I’ve been toying with doing this for my first scx build I’ve already got wheels and tyres from my other rigs
