On the bright side, fakes of all three official dragon designs (plus two based on the black Blythe cat and the similar pink glitter flower cat) are available and affordable.
Wish and Aliexpress- ali usually having the better price. Afternarket and bootleg pets also make it to ebay pretty frequently. If something looks like a highly desirable mold, like the Savvy dachsund or heterochromia collie or the black cat with the white flower marking from the large Blythe set, (or any of the dragons for that matter), but it’s affordably priced, it’s probably a fake. Blank bases of some of the big five designs- mostly shorthair cats and collies- appear on all three sites with some frequency, but are usually more expensive. And there’s the McDonald’s pets- though with the smoother plastic they may require some sanding for paint to stick.
