I spent a couple of hours trying to get the driven wheel on a 14" Ridgid balanced, as you say the bearing had enough drag to mess it up. Took it off, used a long 3/4" bolt for an axle, a couple of levels on top of a Workmate and a digital food scale to weigh the test solder weights and match with 1/4" bolts, nuts and washers (22 grams). Thanks for the idea - that setup is extremely sensitive!

I wonder if that setup will introduce error if the bearing hole is not exactly circular?

I'd think it's round since it just needs a decent drill bit (or similar) for that, and the bearing has to fit just about perfect. However, if the axle hole is not concentric, centered, perpendicular to the pulley, etc, then you've got a problem beyond the scope of this video. Luckily the wheels don't spin fast enough for these things to be too critical.

I use U-nut spring fasteners for weights. You can pry them off and move them around easy.

Yes. There's lots of ways to do it. Thanks for sharing.

Use a lawnmower blade balance Jig. A metal cone on a point. Hardware Store has them.

WHY ARENT THEY BALANCED FROM THE FACTORY?

Thanks for the note. This is a low end consumer grade bandsaw and the wheels don't have to be balanced for the saw to work acceptably well. They don't turn very fast. Balancing the wheels took a little shake out of the saw, which I appreciate, but it doesn't improve the usability or performance. If I were to do it again, I wouldn't be a picky to get as perfect as I could.

@@jazbuilding when you save on materials, eg, bandsaw etc.. labor always goes up! So in the end it probably balances out, But I would rather save my pennies to get a working tool straight from the factory, then spend a small fortune on something I have to rack my brain on as soon as I get it home? its just not right!, But we accept it, that's why Harbor Freight exist. And I shopped there a lot, But realized after so many sub par tools and all my aggravation, The cost difference would have been close to a respectable name brand, less the labor I put into it, And as of now I charge 45 an hour so it adds up fast, our time isn't free

I realize it is quite off topic but do anyone know a good website to stream new series online?
