epic and big thank's for upload this video, it is unfogetable all over the time ✨.. Rossini died on 13.11.1868 .. I was born 100 years later, on 14.11.1968
One of the three most fabulous things I have heard in my whole life as a music lover. (The other two are Toscanini's 1937 Beethoven's Seventh, and Emil Gilels' series of Beethoven concerti.)
I was there. Maestro Giulini is certainly one of the greatest if not the greatest conductors of all time. This performance benefited surely from the rehearsal time invested in the production of the recording, though that should not detract from its excellence of course. Of some interest, I also was present at a concert at the same venue by Maestro Guilini conducting Bruckner 8, a work of completely different character: I had a seat in the rear, where the chorus for this performance was seated. It was amazing, I witnessed all of the the Maestro's passionate gestures and indeed could hear him humming the tunes of Bruckner's titanic symphony. What a consummate artist and man.
Maestro Giulini was not attending the movement of his arms, simply because he was literally out of his own body at the middle of this last movement of Rossini. I am pretty sure that he experienced something extraordinary those last minutes, just have to see the look of his eyes.
btw the sound isn't so good as in the cd version even if it's the same performance. About what Vexi says, yeah, Giulini waves his arms so powerfull, maybe too powerfull, but it's his style of conduction I think...some directors belittle their gestures, others, evidently, no :)

Beautiful, in 1991 I sang myself in a choir to perform this piece of music.
Rossini nostro orgoglio.
I've listened to a lot of performances of this, and this is absolutely the BEST!

Rossini! The comic operas, the serious operas, the Tell, the Stabat, the late piano pieces, the Petite Messe...a genius!
The man wanted to be mozart..its obvious what inspired him. Same with beethoven. I don't blame them. I would want to be mozart too!

The unison final "Amen" is kinda scary...the choir sounds like an army...amazing performance.!

Thank you so much for capturing this performance.
Mamma mia, Gioacchino, ho i brividi!

Ti capisco benissimo.

really? To me it sounds better then here in the video, especially brass instruments ...Btw I agree that this Rossini's Stabat Mater is greatest
@Vexi56 maybe he was enjoying himself?
We sing this on April 29th in UCH if you are around!!
va, va il mago con la bacchetta
Giulni could have acted as Viktor in the Underworld movie. And he would have ruled vampires forever. Amen.
please i want the lyrics
For centuries upon centuries, forevermore, AMEN! (In sempiterna saecula, AMEN!)
