At the risk of getting on my soapbox (sorry, couldn't resist!😂), the small white ANACS holders came to be called "soap bar" holders because they resemble the complimentary small white hotel soap bars. Some have called them "soap box" holders mistakenly, since "soap box" is a similar sounding term that represents pontification. In no way do I mean for this comment to be judgmental, but rather hopefully helpful. After all, Ben, I love your videos and feel quite confident your coin knowledge is at least 100 times more than mine! 😊👊
I've heard the blue holders were easy to crack coins out and replace them without people realizing the cases had been broken. A regular dealer at shows around me usually has one or two blue slabs with label saying like 1921 Morgan, but coin inside is like a 1923 peace dollar, if the coin wasn't obviously different I bet most collectors would never realize it was tampered with - and he tells that story anytime someone notices the slab.
Cool detail. ANACS makes some unusual decisions. The info being visible at the edge is nice. I like their blue and green color schemes, not so much the yellow.
Correct. A fella told me that blue label soapboxes were always detail coins. I have Trime in one that has the “Bent” designation on the label and it is also a blue label soap box.
The blue slabbed coins have a reputation of being over graded. Amos Press bought ANACS in 1990 and in 2005 they sold it to Anderson Press. In 2008 ANACS was sold to James Taylor (Driving Force LLC) who still owns the company. To the best of my knowledge it was during the Anderson Press ownership period that the blue slabs were introduced. Under James Taylors ownership the yellow slabs were introduced and the company moved from Austin TX to Englewood CO with a new group of graders and supposedly more conservative grading. However the loose grading reputation was already in the minds of collectors and dealers and remains till today.
Hi Ben. I like identifying the coin from the top while it sits in a box with the other coins. That is an innovation that other companies should copy. But I also like the old small soap bars. The less room each coin and holder takes up, the better. In my perfect world, the holder would be as small as possible and have the identification that can be seen while in the box. Is that too little to ask for? Come on, grading companies, give us as much room in the box as possible.
Maybe one day i will get my 1904-O morgan graded, it is definitely a good looking coin. After watching alot of grading reveals from you and robfindtreasures. I reckon mine is atleast MS60 or better, it has amazing luster, undisturbed cartwheel, minimum surface marks. Only problem i see is a weak strike claw which i heard new Orleans minted coins are notorious for weak strike
Nice little bit of history. Thanks

I’ve seen both of these holders around but never knew why they were different or how briefly they were used. Neat!

Interesting information. "Always be a student" seems to be the way. Thank you, Ben.

You're coin shop is about 1900 miles away from my home. If i drive 190 mph I can be there in about 10 hours...
That's news to me. It's also a fun piece of history. Thanks, Ben!
Very interesting I had no idea . I have never submitted to anacs so I don't know much about them . But that was a clever idea.

Those blue holders are my favorite ones from ANACS I got quite a few of those

Ben you should've been my history teacher. I might have paid attention 🤔. Great lesson, teach on. 👏
I love the old soap box holders! (Unless there's edge lettering, lol)
I like the old soapbox holders.
Like the blue holders better than the new yellow ones.

Love the video bro thanks 👍🏻
Never knew any of this, great video!
That’s interesting, I did not know that.
Thanks Ben! Now I know!👍
Merry Christmas
I wish they'd switch to the cleaned holders
Ben, Ima need one of those samples from you
I wish ANACS would go back to the soapbox... I'd actually send a couple coins just for the holder! But I think the ugly banana 🍌 is here to stay!
Anacs white holders are the best anacs holders then the blue and theen maybe the yellows
I prefer Photograde.😂
Huh? Ya don't say. Peculiar.
Cool.
Hey Ben
Hi Ben
*FIFTH* 🦥
I think everyone dislikes the yellow holders
Nope, I like them.
Me too. 😊
Don't speak for everyone, speak for yourself only.I like the yellow labels and white
@@jaymartell2967 I stand corrected. I will remove my comment.

Who will come out with a hologram holder first? You will spin your coin in 3D while it sits in the holder....

Sorry to say this but the grading fees wouldn't justify sending in even a Ms62-63 1904 O Morgan they are just not an expensive coin even in Ms64
