@@JohnSmith-wv5km this song reminds me of more when you see your least favorite teacher after like 10 years and thinks maybe she wasn't so bad after all
this music is there for the sake of keeping our cool throughout the level. in my mind i think to myself: " damn this levels hard, but who cares i get to listen to this a little longer whether i take my time or get killed and come back at the checkpoint."

This is so relaxing to listen to.. Takes me back to my childhood when I used to sit in front of the TV for hours playing this game.. Makes me forget about all the problems I have. Thanks for sharing such great music, keep it up.
I put my son to sleep with the original song all the time ... This one is amazing just as awesome & soothing ... I'm gonna try to see if this one will put him to sleep as well ... I always get nostalgia back to 95 or 96 when I would play this game as a kid 😔 memories ... 🖖🏼
+Dragoon Pyro yeah I tried it , I would lay down with my son & talk to him about my upbringing while this playing & before I know it he'll be sleep .. Tried it twice haha
I cant express how much this song means to me.. it takes me back to that 25" Admiral i had in my room with the ironing board and a big ol can of Niagara spray starch sitting atop it. It was just my mom and me. Didnt really know what life was like aside from school and playing games. Fast forward years later, my mom is gone and life is anything but school and play. So the amount of nostalgia this song brings is enough to fill a time capsule to remind future generations of just how good we had it. Beautiful upload!
I love this music. Amazing work there. I've always been fascinated by this stage. You're surrounded by deadly thorny vines, you travel around using unreliable canon barrels, the smallest mistake sends you to your death, yet the music is so peaceful and borderline sad... so chill and relaxing. There was some strange magic about DKC...
Im pretty sure its to have the players feel a lot more relax because the stages were so intense. I must say they were some of the hardest stages in the game.
not made to calm you down.. it's supposed to be unnerving, and it was. Intense fast action music would have made the stage very easy. Slow music plus fast decisions is alot harder. play it with no sound it's even easier.. like turning the volume off a horror movie.. not so bad after that
Yeah it lacked. Sad to see he lost his touch. This game had possibly the best soundtrack in gaming history. Tropical freeze failed on every level for me, sadly including the music.
AbleAnderson I respectfully disagree. I thought Trpical Freeze was awesome, gameplay- and soundtrack-wise. Not a match for DKC2, yeah, but then again few games are.
Ricardo Longo Just my opinion guys, but here's the thing - I admit that I may not be totally objective. My great experiences on DKC2 on SNES may have just been because I was a kid and everything was fun. Or, it could truly be that DKC2 was good but Tropical freeze was not. I will never be able to tell, because I can't play Tropical freeze as my kid self. But the fact is, as an adult, I think very highly of DKC2, and did not have fun with or enjoy the music of Tropical Freeze. But again, maybe if I had played DKC2 as an adult I wouldn't have liked it either.
AbleAnderson That's interesting, because I think Tropical Freeze was a step forward for this new DKC series like DKC 2 was for the SNES trilogy. DKC 2 IS good. It still is good. It's definitely better than DKC 1 and ultimately better than the uninspired DKC3. Tropical Freeze is just different. It's a hard game, but what made it less difficult was the amount of lives the game gives you. I had around 99 lives the whole game. Why do they give you that many? Just take away the lives system and make it unlimited continues. Same thing.
Fun fact: I'm not 100% sure about this but I'm pretty confident... This piece and "Aquatic Ambiance" from DKC are the only two pieces of video game music which Mr. McGroove has covered that were *not* composed by a Japanese person. This great song was composed by the Englishman David Wise... such a beautiful piece if you ask me... it ranks right up there with the top Japanese VGMs in my opinion.
David Wise composed the OST for DKC II alone!! Because of his works in DKC and in lots of other games, he's probably my favourite video game composer of all time.Edging past other favourites of mine such as Richard Jacques and Yuzo Koshiro
Holy shit, I haven't seen this guy in YEARS, probably since I was still a kid, and he just pops up in my feed randomly again all this time later. Magnificent

Thinking back, I know why they used such a beautiful and relaxing song for these stages. I remember the frustration I felt trying to get through these. I think I had the hardest time with the one where you were flying around as a parrot. The music helped me to not destroy my console.

Man, your song choices are getting better with each video. I really didn't expect you to tackle Stickerbrush Symphony as it's a very tough song and a fan-favorite. But you've managed to give it your all here. Great acapella cover as usual. I know this is a pretty niche request, but I would love you hear you cover anything from Star Ocean 2 or Baten Kaitos. The latter in particular has some excellent tunes, although both soundtracks are very well done.
What's this I see in my Subscription feed: an early Christmas present from Mr. McGroove? And a song cover from one of the greatest video game soundtracks ever made, no less? Thank you, I think I will! As a side note, Freya's or Vivi's theme from Final Fantasy IX!
Well im gonna write here, but this is for all your channel in general... Man, first, you rock at what you are doning. So a big congratulations. Second... i cant belive all the themes you done so far, are the one's i love from my chillhood and beyond... So a big Thank You!
This is easily one of the, if not THE, most requested songs from Smooth. Very happy to see him save this for an awesome Christmas gift and put so much effort into it. Of course, being the TH-cam commentators we are, that doesn't stop us from posting requests. :) Here's an idea though: What if Smooth McGroove's website had a polling system put in place? People can submit requests and add in votes on the ones they'd like to see Smooth do next. It'd be sorted by game, track title, and number of votes. If you don't see the song you want to request on the polls, you can submit a new entry by filling out the "Other" section to add it to the list. This will free up the TH-cam pages of constant request submissions, and help make sure that Smooth sees each request and which ones are most requested. Granted, which song he does next will be entirely up to him, but it will give him an idea of what his fans (of which there are many) would like to hear in the future. Based on what I see, I imagine that the Forest Maze from Super Mario RPG would be near the top of the polls should something like that get put in place. What do you guys think?
Always enjoyed your videos, yet, I still come to watch them again. just because they're too relaxing. I've probably been watching your videos since 2019/2018.
Whelp, merry Christmas to me. I love this track so much, I hardly go a day without playing it, seriously. And it's one of my absolute favorite things to listen to while I draw (which isn't nearly often enough, unfortunately). It's just so relaxing and wonderfully dream like. Two traits it shares with it's sister track Aquatic Ambiance. Which you also had a fantastic cover of, McGroove. Interestingly enough Stickerbrush Symphony was going to be used for Donkey Kong Country 2's water levels also. However they decided that the sound fit much better with the "Bramble Blast" stages. And honestly I couldn't agree more. The strange atmosphere created by mixing the polar elements of serene music, and a perilous, and yet oddly beautiful, ocean of thorns suspended in an endless blue sky. Was instantly burned into my mind, almost nostalgic really. Like I had rediscovered some place I've been to thousand times, one of my favorites, but for whatever reason had been long forgotten. In any event, you have definitely done this cherished song from my child justice. Different, but haunting in it's own way.
Well, you just articulated what I've been feeling about this for my whole life. Thank you for expressing the emotions inspired such a beloved song, and a merry christmas indeed!
