- Hello everyone, I hope you are staying strong! In this art video i will be showing you how to draw skulls starting from the basic art shapes and moving toward more stylised skulls. when you draw the line down the middle of the first circle, in the first 2 examples, why isnt it centered on the nose? that confuses me a little..
i don't want to speak for the artist but i believe it is because the center line is drawn as if it were drawn down the center of a sphere, but then when you add the nose it protrudes from that sphere so depending on what the angle is it wouldn't fall on that line. i know that's probably not the clearest explanation but it would be easier to explain with a visual

I am 44y and some bad things happend, everything is a mess. I'd like to start tattooing so i needed to practice my drawing skills and i bumped in to you video. I am drawing everyday now and following your advice. I was afraid to make mistakes and what others would say or think or laugh at my drawings, but as you said......it wont be perfect, but thats life!

As someone who likes to draw skulls, this is very useful, in my GCSE for art we were asked to do a skeleton of our style and have them in a position or scene of our choosing, this was very useful and I drew a skeleton pilot, got a high mark for it.

I don't get the second eye part T-T
Grab a skull and slowly rotate it while you’re looking at that eye socket. You’ll understand why it looks like that. It’s how the bone “sheet” is shaped, but it’s not really visible from the front of the skull.

At @21:40 you state 'this is nowhere close to an anatomical skull' .
Would you, personally recommend to try taking your basics and doing something with, or first try to learn the actual anatomic skull?

hey man, thank you fro such a great question. I personally would start by learning the anatomic version first and then start applying so of the lessons in this after. ever structure that you see in animation or graffiti stylised illustration is based off stuff already in this physical reality. so the more understanding of the source object the more you can start to think "how can i manipulate these shapes"

yes bro, start with the very basic basic anatomy first and than you can manipulate it. Im currently creating a course on how to create characters covering everything there is to know and basic anatomy is one of the key points .

I don't mean for this to come off as rude, I'm genuinely curious. But what is the use of the cross line you drew at 1:05 when this line isn't being used as the center of the skulls face side? Did you just not like this center line and decide to draw at a different angle? Or is this not even a center line but a line representing something else?
