Came out pretty excellent!! Love the matching reds. That center stand reminds me of my old motorcycle that had one and I took off when installing the new exhaust.
@@garysprojects Definitely I’m converting my old Trek mtb to a grocery store hopper. Will be using your ideas, but seems that down under your milk crates are a bit larger, must be the metric measurements 😁. Thanks appreciate the time you took to make the video. You got a new subscriber.
@@jorgergonzalezvisualartist8925 hahaha i for some reason thought all milk crates were similar size. Maybe they are bigger down under haha. No worries mate thx for watching and I appreciate the sub !! Cheers
Love your videos and sadly never comment, I here need to make a kind of negative one. If those cable ties fail that alu loop will fall under the wheel and can cause some serious injury. It is worth an extra strip of alu from the rack to the fork eyelet under the brake. Good work Gary, Cant wait for the next video
Gary we got to send you a frame project from the United States, find an old restoration probably cost more to send but might be worth it, FYI definitely an epic cool build once again that milk crate looks even oversized but I realize the bike is a bit small nice!!
Heck yeah! Glad you done a video. This'll definitely help and give newcomers a better visual idea of how to get themselves a useful rack on their commuter or beater bike! I know something like this would have helped me on my early endeavors hahaha cheers buddy!
@@garysprojects yeah I checked them out a while back. Very good stuff! Can't remember but did you use the fork hole like where the brake mounts? I utilized that on mine on a few bikes and it really fortified the racks. I can send you a DM on Instagram if you'd like.
So good! I just spent 10 minutes attaching a milk crate to my rear rack with zip ties and then instantly kicked it off as I dismounted lmao I wanna try this but I don't really have the tools..
@@garysprojects Yeah haha I'm gonna try that out and force myself to mount an dismount over the top tube. If that fails, I might ask a mate to help me with mounting it to the front like you have.. clean work btw!
I have an orange slades crate from the 80s I'm gonna throw on a fluro yellow old mtb. Thanks for the tips here. Is that an old postie bike? Edit Just saw the end where it's outside not on balcony and clearly a bmx. Looks so much bigger when u were working on it lol
You could carry an alien no worries with that bad boy! I have the same old red pura crate in my shed actually haha! they are perfect bike crates, I might have to make a rack mount for it.
Looks nice. Love the bike itself too. What model is it? Edit: Nvm, just looked at your IG. Cool bike. Probably impossible to find one here in the UK though 😆
Hey Gary hope you're doing well, I did find a frame for you it's a Cannondale m1000 or I think what's called a mountain 1000 aluminum frame built in the United States must be an early '90s I don't know how I would get it to you would have to ship it in January if it would be cheaper I can send images of it
@@chuffa1130 ooo sounds interestingn! can contact me through Instagram or my shop email. Maybe good idea to find out how much shipping to aus … might be pretty expensive haha ! Cheers man appreciate it
That's awesome ! I love how clean your work area is ...and so organized!
Cheers man!! Haha not always that clean but I try to keep it clean 😂😂
I liked the video, and want to put a milk crate on one of my bikes now. The music at the end was a nice touch, a bit of Paris.
Cheers i appreciate that! Love paris one of my favorite cities !
More like an utilitarian bike for supermarket trips. Cool!
yesss, def gunna do some grocery runs with this! probably hold at least a couple of bags !
That is so cool and satisfying to see the bag go in at the end.
Cheers! Was a fun build and luckily didn’t tip the bike over with my bag toss 😂
Came out pretty excellent!! Love the matching reds. That center stand reminds me of my old motorcycle that had one and I took off when installing the new exhaust.

The ET bike, looks kinda silly but kinda cool at the same time, love it haha
hahah thats what makes it cool! thanks man!
I have like 6 of these crates and have wanted to make a rack with one. Sure looks cool! Super useful too.
hell yaw dude, so easy to just chuck the stuff in and go, also no sweaty back (if you live somewhere hot)
@@garysprojects front racks just make more sense too! Doesn't get in the way when getting on the bike.
You are mad creative man, true inspiration
Thanks man !! Too kind, i appreciate that !
Next project is to make an E.T. to go in the basket. May be just a bit more difficult.
Hahaha need to phone home
We love front racks. Good for the dogs too
Awwww yeah! Def good for the doggo, sticking their tongues out :D
That was an awesome upgrade! I will do something similar on my classic bike :)
cheers my dude ! do it up
I have a similar rig that is just so handy but I used a wire basket from Bunnings, milk crate is the way to go it has the vibe 🤩
the milk crate def brings a different vibe!! But handy to have whatever you have, just chuck the stuff in and go !
Nice work! Milk crates are unbeatable for supermarket runs.
Cheers man! Def agree, if you need to pick up some quick groceries or beer, perfect!
Good job. Thinking of doing something like this on my ebike. Thanks for the info.
No worries good luck!
good job. the double stand is the way to go.
Cheers mate, much needed once the basket was on !
I use conduit clamps and conduit hangers for many DIY bike projects
Nice! Helpful for sure

Hahah def alien will fit! Ya nice racks I think they have a squarer / cleaner lines than the other Aussie crates

@@benvg haha I was looking for the ET crates but I think they only have them in the USA, I like the one I got tho 👍
8:55 would wheel stabilizer help to stabilize the bike?
Ya that would help!
Looks good. Would this work with quick release wheels?
Probably stronger with an axle , but I’m sure a qr would work too as long as your not trying to carry anything too crazy!

Edit: Nvm, just looked at your IG. Cool bike. Probably impossible to find one here in the UK though 😆

The matching basket works well with the red vintage BMX Hybrid bike, and it's super useful for carrying your goods 👌

Anybody know the "hanger" type/name at 3:12?? (couldnt find anywhere)
Reflector mount brake cable hanger
@@garysprojects Nothing on ebay/amazon right now, just plain brake-cable hangers.
I guess you could always mod one of the heavy-duty ones, thanks.
@@Carnivorous-Vegan ahh yeah it’s an old part , maybe have to try fb marketplace or like you said mod an old reflector mount. 👍👍
las dos ruedas son del mismo tamaño ?
yes they are both 22”
What does the kick stand have to do with anything lol
It helps with the basket
Great video.
Thanks Chris! I appreciate that
Good job

I’ve been designing a mount in my imagination, this will help. I want to take my cat for rides
