I have to say, this hasn't been my experience at all and I'm around 2k res also. Mountebank's has indeed become more popular with the increased set slots, but besides that I don't see people going heavy on shields. I would say I might just not be noticing it but it wouldn't be working well in that case lol. As a Barbarian I've actually seen a DECREASE in shield essence usage (Wrath shoulders and Leap legs) among Barbarians of all power levels. I attribute that to recent buffs to Charge/Leap and Demoralize becoming a key PVP skill. Barbs are more mobile than ever especially with the overall CC changes and PVP damage change (that change is slightly older now). So relying on just Undying Rage and killing quickly is what I've seen. As for other classes I could just be wrong but haven't FELT much change. Certainly nothing that made me stop and wonder. Still I find this interesting. Thanks for the video.
That's interesting. We all can have diff experiences in BG as its a team based pvp mode. As a melee class, even without any CC immunity, i found that tanky builds are doing better. Even for monks tank builds is the meta. But yeah, need to have some source for sufficient damage else all goes to waste. There are many factors which can alter the experience for many people.

I believe that in my reso/secondary stat range I sometimes get wildly different types of matches (they did make secondary stats part of the matching recently right?). The games with people who seem, for the most part, knowledgeable and putting in effort, I am noticing many more shields in those kinds of matches. But I still believe my comments on Barbarians is accurate. Our meta and viable PVP variants don't seem to take advantage of our shields as much as we used to. Except for the 4pc Mountebank's, that is popular with everyone since the set changes as you said. Thanks again! I'm glad I watched this because you're definitely on to something and I haven't seen any other videos specifically on this topic so I definitely appreciate it.
You came close to mentioning another source of shields: the barrier reforge family bonus. In fact, at this point I’m torn whether to reforge from mostly barrier to mostly wildfire for more dps (in both pve and pvp). I’ve been watching auroth’s and Apollyon’s videos, where they talk about how important the crit, primary, and skill damage reforges are if you want to max your pve dps. However, I feel significantly squishier in PvP when I don’t have mostly barrier reforges, with the low cooldown shield it provides.

Since day one, I've only played crusader and I've always kept a tank build just for fun in PVE. I don't PVP at all as shields won't protect you against high resonance players. I've been using all of the shields you mentioned (except phoenix ashes) since they have been released. I used to use the survivor tree until Warden was released with the last patch. One shield that you didn't mention is from the Punish skill.
Gladiator vs Warden - for vault use gladiator. For battlegrounds Warden is better here's why: 1) The uncontrollable skill is usually wasted since any little thing can trigger it, even slows (walking by necro pillar) 2) People are really good at timing when u get out of cheat death, so most of the time ur surrounded and die in cc soon as the effect wears off. 3) U can get about 3-4 shields in the time it takes to use one cheat death - and most importantly you can still move and use your skills to get away.
As a demon hunter, why everyone is using Secrets Safeguard even though only absorbing small amount of damage but thanks to Best Discretion Head essence, it reduce your cooldown everytime your hit. So which mean that you can keep using escape for the shield.
the dh escape shield essence is favorited coz of their escape helm essence that makes cooldown of escape very low, almost unlimited dash for dh and every time they dash they get shield
Purge the depths, kill there and open chests. Also those legendary items you get from events that has a question mark, open them inside the warband room and it will not become cursed. Good luck
For invocation gear, i dont really prioritize the CR or the magic attribute. If it has invocation i use it. Its rare to find, so i use whatever i get. I keep extra gears for CR. Some people say if u ID the gear inside cyrangar, u have higher chance of getting invocation gears. But i am not sure about that
Yeah i hear that too, i Will try It when new inferno 5 arrives, purge and identify inside purge. Now i only get one weapon (bad ones) in the cyrangar weekly defense

Defensive stance for barbs and crusaders! A source for shield i use all the time while interchanging between precision & defensive stance!

It is a separate health pool. The advantage is it takes out one of the hits.

Invocation is almost impossible to get nowadays. Everything is cursed.
Spiteful Blood also provides a shield at rank 5.

Shield meant nth in front of 8k ap above whale. Trust me, i am 7k armor cru with all the shield in leg gem, reforge, wb, mountback green, cat pet etc

Your leg drop rate is highest when you first begin after 3am reset. Purge the depths first everyday and you will get plenty of invocation gear to use.
