It's revealing that Robin expressed surprise that the bride stood up for herself. She really thought she was going to get away with steamrolling right over her.
My guess is that they didn't do that 1) for the drama, and 2) they probably don't have the samples in sizes big enough for her to try on (I mean no disrespect saying that, I'm a bigger girl myself, but I understand most boutique store aren't going to have samples in bigger sizes unless they specifically specialize in bigger size clothing or something, which is perfectly fine lol).
They often have to go with the closest match so as to give the bride/bridesmaids an idea of colour. I can't imagine lime green being a particularly highly requested colour, so they probably don't have any samples available in that colour.
As mentioned in another comment, they usually have to go with the closest color available as to give an idea of how it will look. Bridal stores do not necessarily have all the colors and considering it's a not so popular color for bridesmaids dresses, they might not have that shade in any suitable sample dress available. They get it made in the color requested by the bride if she gets a rough idea how the color would look
I'm afraid "Robyn" would get told, right quick, that this isn't her wedding; if she's pregnant, she's not walking down the aisle; and, once she entered Kleinfeld's, she was no longer an individual with an opinion, she was an ATTENDANT to the BRIDE for a couple of hours on only one day of her life. I agree with the first girl; raspberry & lime green are not colors you would expect for a wedding. Yea, a teeny boppers birthday party, but definitely not a wedding
It’s the brides wedding and choice but I do firmly believe that they should love and care about their girls enough to make sure they are comfortable. I also think brides need to keep in mind in 99% of situations the girls are buying their own dresses to so it’s not like she’s throwing out her money to get these dresses the girls hate. Personally when I get married I’ll just tell them long and a color besides that idc what you wear because I want them to feel their best because I love them!
Fr! Thats what im doing with my bridesmaids. Theyre buying and wearing the dresses so they should get a say too! Im just telling them what length and color
8:52 someone needs to tell that friend, that if she would feel more comfortable in a maternity dress versus the bridesmaid dress to just get the maternity dress
Here's the thing, there should be mutual respect during these decisions. There needs to be an acknowledged difference between 'I would feel uncomfortable in this dress' and 'This dress is not to my taste'. The bride shouldnt want her bridesmaid to be uncomfortable (when you have big boobs, strapless dresses are almost always a nightmare, I would feel so horrific the whole day), but if you are a bridesmaid you should put up with a dress you dont like. Comfort is essential in this choice, but personal taste is totally fine to go with just what the bride wants.
"I think opinions are like buttholes..." Yeah and you're definitely opinionated! If anyone's opinion matters the most, it's the bride's because we'll, IT'S HER WEDDING!!! 6:52
I honestly don't understand why these bridal stores don't understand that the best thing to do with bridesmaids is pick a color and then let everyone pick a style that flatters their unique body shape. What is the big deal?!!!
@@White_wolf0789 Yes, you're right, it is up to the bride but you don't hear the salon suggesting it either and they should be. However, you missed my point, it's not the color you need to give them a choice for it's the style. You can't pick a style of dress and expect it to suit all body types especially when it comes to plus size women. I think it should be common practice to care about the feelings of all your bridesmaids and simply pick a color and length and leave the style up to the individual, with the assistantance of the salon making sure it's in good taste and in keeping with the brides vision . And while yes, in the end, the bride has the final say the salon has the expertise to find the style that best suits each individual woman. In the end everyone looks beautiful and they feel good about themselves. I also think it's really stupid to make them wear really ugly dresses so they don't outshine the bride. It's obvious to everyone involved exactly who the bride is, she stands out no matter what anyone else is wearing. Obviously no one but the bride should be wearing white. In the case of the bride choosing a colored dress such as blush, or even black, then everyone else shouldn't wear that color. Just because things have always been done a certain way doesn't mean we can't open our minds and change them. That plus sized bridesmaid was acting like that because she felt bad about her self-image, and while she is the only person who can ultimately fix that it won't happen overnight. Forcing her into an unflattering dress especially when there will be professional photographers taking pictures will have a long lasting deep effect on her psyche. She will be suffering in silence the whole time and trust me seconds turn into hours in a situation like that. It seems to me that if you love someone enough to ask them to be a part of the biggest day of your life this is a simple way of showing you care in a huge way. And BTW saying anything about it to her so she feels singled out negates the good that would have been done.
@farrenrohana I let my bridesmaids choose the dress. I told them the color and the fact that it was going to be outdoors in October. They all agreed on the same long sleeved tea dress that could be worn again elsewhere. Long story short, I agree with you. Tell the bridesmaids the color and any other pertinent details, and then let them pick what looks good on them and what they feel comfortable wearing. I wouldn't want to pick something that they are uncomfortable with. They are paying for it, so they should at least be comfortable with it and hopefully like it.
If you invest in a good, well-constructed bra that's the right size, and have a well-made and perfectly-tailored dress, having big ta-tas isn't an issue and they won't spill out. Signed, an owner of large ta-tas
Also an owner of large ta-tas (H cup)...no that will not work for all of us. My breasts are tubular, heavy and one is an entire cup size larger than the other. They carry down any strapless bra or dress I try, no matter how well fit.
is it just me or was robins demands not that crazy? she seemed pretty open to any dress she just needed straps, and was just also trying to get pregnant?
I agree with you. The color situation didn't make much sense unless she was frustrated with the lime and purple combination so she chose saying she didn't want to wear purple as her way to express that. I expect that she was self-conscious about her size so it was probably really sensitive about the strapless thing with her chest size and maybe wasn't as tactful as she could have been. My friends know that I don't like to wear strapless dresses so they would not expect me to wear a strapless dress at their wedding. If I ever get married one day I want to find out what colors they feel comfortable in and have options for styles of dress that they're comfortable in.
I'll never understand that cistom of having bridesmaids. My wedding, I'm the only woman one at the altar. My friends can be witnesses when we have the civil ceremony!
Why didn't they just have Robin try on 1 or 2 of the dresses? Then they'd know for sure how they'd look on her and how well her girls are controlled. But if the bride absolutely insisted, I'd just have to suck it up. And then change clothes as soon as possible. 😋
I suspect the sample sizes would not have worked for Robyn. As for the color, she's already wearing purple so I don't get what her big deal was about. Would be interesting to find out if she was pregnant by the time this wedding came around.
I understand letting the bride pick the dress for her attendants but she also needs to consider that we come in different shapes and sizes and to choose something that will work for everyone. Being large chested myself no way could I wear strapless or even spaghetti straps without worrying about a wardrobe malfunction. When I got married I was considerate of the fact that all my girls were comfortable because it will show on their faces in the photos. (Surely no bride wants one or several of their bridesmaids spilling out of their dresses.)
