    I like how they tested the kettle bell lunges on wet grass, discovered it was dangerous, and Instead of doing something to fix the situation just said “lol”

      Dude not gonna lie, did it even occur to them to lightly pull a long pipe say made of pvc for example across the grass to knock the water off? I do this all the time to allow myself to mow grass early in the morning instead of waiting for the dew to dry .. lol it would have taken all of about three minutes

      @@agnidas5816 It is exceptionally dangerous to wear cleats while doing weighted exercises, if you lose balance and start to fall, and your feet don't move because you're wearing cleats, your joints will move. And it is very common for uncontrolled, weighted movements to cause permanent ligament damage.

      I've been Crossfitting for almost 4 years now and this is exactly why I never do any WOD with deadlifts in it. It makes zero sense.

      They have to allow those kinds of pullups because doing 300 ACTUAL pullups would be impossible for any of these "athletes" thus rendering the crossfit games more pointless than they already are.

      It's also just plain dangerous. Improper form and rushing through lifts is a great way to seriously hurt yourself.

But you can looks at any of these games athletes on IG or look at there programming and they do plenty of strict work. 1000% you couldn’t beat any of these athletes at any exercise/movement, strict or not. Throw up a video of you doing some strict pull ups, I’d love to see it

    The only thing impressive about that deadlift is how much her spine managed to bend even when wearing a belt. Crossfit sure does teach you to overcome all obstacles to achieve your goals, even if the obstacle is a weightlifting belt. But I guess that makes catback the goal.

      @@stumiu110kg3 Even if that's not its primary purpose, wearing something restrictive right over your lumbar spine does make it harder to fully round your back. InfiniteElgintensity even comments on this in a video where Samson Fletcher removes his belt to more easily round his back to make a number.

      @Salty Apple Imagine being a sport that under-teaches complicated and dangerous lifts to beginners, and then tells them to push through the pain when doing those lifts at high volume. Just because a few people manage to get strong doing that doesn't mean it's smart.

    I see future chronic injuries. 300 reps of anything is trouble. I think some of these folks should find new sports for their safety. It just looks like competitive gym class to me. Once again, your analysis is spot on!!!

    I'm starting to worry that pinching your knees together isn't just a result of mechanical failure when under load, but that it's actually part of the way Crossfit teaches back squats.

      The knees will generally cave slightly on the ascent due to the adductor magnus' lever to extend the hips. The degree to which crossfitters cave however is a whole different ball game.

    when people squat heavy loads like that, its not a 1 time off in the games, its just becomes normal to do it under heavy load. Theyy're all going to have bad knees in old ages 100%

      Most don’t even do 1 rep Max’s in training. The recovery time from heavy deadlift or squats isn’t worth it to their training. So I highly doubt that lifting so heavy for it to cause bad form is a part of their normal routine. $500k is also a big incentive to push yourself farther than you think you can. Why do you think we see so many injuries in strongman competitions?

      @@sauzeeee so what? Do you know how many sports there are that break down people in their old age? Playing 82 full basketball games in 5 months is also bad for your body in the long term, as is playing full contact football on a weekly basis, but nobody’s complaining about that are they?

    Jfc, I knew crossfit athletes were a joke, but I can't believe I just watched them desecrate squats and deadlifts like that. That girls knees nearly buckled like a KitKat, and that commentator said she lifted the weight "with ease".

      The CrossFit games is proving who is the best at EVERYTHING not just who is the best at one thing, so of course we aren’t going to see Olympic level squats from people who don’t even max out squats during training

    They literally made a game out of weight lifting. The one thing everyone and common sense tells you is not a game because you can seriously injure yourself. The amount of ego in the air at those events must be unbearable.

      you are so right mate. But the ego of these crossfit clowns is unlimited, which is why they rather squat 400 and ruin their knees instead of squatting half and doing it properly.
      Same is for the "pull ups" - lol, this out off dynamic circular reactive move made whatsoever is everything, but definitely not a pull up.

      @@allisonjohn6389 The weight is too heavy for them to hold form well, but they want to win so they risk it anyways instead of bailing on the lift. Longevity doesn't seem to be a huge focus in crossfit, probably due to its relatively young existence.
      Edit: I got sidetracked from the main question. You can compensate for too heavy of weight on a lift by breaking form to recruit more muscles/easier leverages but at a higher risk of injury.

      Those squats are an insult to real powerlifting female competitors, and an insult in general. I love to see girls lift big weight, it's inspiring and fking awesome but seeing that I was winging the entire time, I could hear their knees crying and calling for a doctor; same goes for the deadlifts.

    Our gym started Crossfit several years ago ( in another building, thank goodness ). The number of people who started, then quit, is astounding. Sort of like spun classes, people do it for years with no change in their appearance. But, as a veteran with 16 years service, the thing which bothers me is the exercises dedicated to the questionable achievements of some relatively unknown "hero".
