UCLA Dorm Tour | Classic Triple Housing

  • Here's a tour of my freshman dorm room at UCLA. I live in Rieber Hall which is a classic triple style housing unit. This means that we live in a single room with three girls and and use the floor's communal bathrooms. It is the cheapest and most social living option on The Hill (the residential housing area at UCLA) and I would highly recommend it to any incoming freshman when choosing their housing! Let me know if you have any questions, comments or other kinds of videos you want to see from me! Until next time, enjoy seeing where I live.

    Looks like the furniture hasn't changed in 30 years! I was in Sproul in 90-91 and Dykstra in summer '91. Bringing back great memories. Thanks.

    Hi, love the video! Idk if you have had a chance to compare, but is no A/C an issue in these dorms (provided you use fans etc.)? I'm from London where it barely gets above 80 ish so I'm sorta afraid to apply for some of the LLCs I like cause they are in no AC halls. (Also are you or any friends in LLCs? Are they worth it?) Tyvm

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi!! Great questions! I find that having no A/C has not been issue at all! Depending on what side of teh building you are on, you will not have direct sunlight into your room the majority of the day, and there is A/C in the building as a whole that keeps the rooms relatively nice all year round! I have heard amazing things about the LLC's. I am not currently living in one but they create really cool programs on the Hill which I have attended and its a great way to build an instant community on campus!

    Does Rieber Hall have laundry rooms on every floor or just the main floor? Can you use your bruin card to pay for laundry or do you need quarters?

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      THIS IS A GREAT QUESTION!!! There is one laundry room for the whole hall on the bottom floor and you have to use your bruin card to pay, there's no way to pay with quarters at all.

    Hi this was so informative but im starting next year and my roommate and I are coming in from out of state and im wondering if there was any space to store a suitcase because from every video i’ve watched all the furniture seems packed in very close. Is that space where u put the fridge/microwave the only area that would possibly work for that, or are any of the storage areas big enough to hold a bigger checked suitcase?

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is not a ton of space to store large suitcases. I would recommend packing your stuff into bags that can be compressed such as the IKEA duffel bags.

  • @thuyenti
    @thuyenti ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you so much for making this video! How did you split up the closets? Did you get a small and big one while ur roommate on the top bunk got a big closet and the single loft bed roommate gets a small one?

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The loft got the desk and closet under the bed as well as part of one of the larger closets. The bottom bunk got the majority of one of the closets, and the top bunk got the a bit of that one and the majority of the one shared with the loft. You just have to make sure to communicate your needs with each other and find a way to split it up that makes everyone feel comfortable!

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are lots of study abroad opportunities as well as off campus internships and research opportunities. I know some classes even take field trips to further their lessons

  • @Divina_Star
    @Divina_Star ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How did you and your roommate divide the closet space

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mostly just through communicating our needs and wants clearly at the beginning of the year. Make sure to be honest with each other about how much space you need and be open to sacrificing a bit to make it all work with one another!

  • @centurygoth

    Do you have a link to the full length mirror?

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not have a link to the one in the video as my roommate bought it, but it was just a regular mirror hung up by command strips!

    • @marleyadler

    this may be a dumb question but why is there a urinal in the women’s bathroom?😅are the bathrooms shared?

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  ปีที่แล้ว

      The bathrooms are not shared! I am not sure why there is a urinal in the women's, my best guess would be because they are the same design and just have different signs up designating men's and women's but are interchangeable.

    Is the closet space under the loft bed enough for one person?

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes! Obviously it depends on the person and how much they are bringing to college but if you have hangers and a bin or two there is plenty of space for your clothes to fit!

    Is triple dorming normal for freshmen ?

    • @marleyadler

      Yes, a classic triple is a pretty common choice for incoming Freshman to live in!

    Do the lounges and study rooms have air-conditioner in classics??

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! All the hallways and public spaces are air conditioned, plus the rooms as well, you just don't have control over the temperature of your individual room.

    How can you live without a kitchen?

    • @hoodhunter3262
      @hoodhunter3262 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it's called dining halls and they are all within 3 minutes of walking distance, and UCLA has 6 of them I believe. There are also university apartment which is a block away with kitchen, but majority prefer the dining halls because of best food rated in US college campus.

    where do MBA students live?

    • @marleyadler
      @marleyadler  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is graduate student housing, on and off campus apartments, and other neighborhoods in the nearby area that some commute from.
