I've had my Yamaha Pacifica for 18 years, despite a few bangs, scratches, and some rust on the bolts and coils and machine heads, it still plays as well as when I bought it. Amazing guitar.
More you play it, more it produces better sound of your soul.
It's a shame that so many beginners are given painfully bad pieces of junk when they could get a nice yamaha for the same price.

These might be classed as beginners guitars, but I've been playing for over 20 years and this is an ace guitar...and refuses to go out of tune...and the body...dare I say it , is way more comfortable than a Strat...
Absolutely,with upgraded hardware/pickups/electronics,these babies can go toe on toe with guitars who cost 3-4 times the money.have you checked the new 612V and 611V models,they come stock with S.Duncans,grovers and Wilkinson trem or Hipshot hardtail bridges.
All Yamaha instruments are worth what they cost, and are more reliable and better built than most costing 3x as much. Built like tanks, and the newer guitars are coming great stock, electronics and hardware are all solid.
I have 12 guitars, 6 of them are Yamaha. 'Nuff said.
Whether you buy their entry-level or high-end, you just can't go wrong - highly recommended!
+socialdef3 I'll go one further. I've never had anything bad with a Yamaha badge on it. From guitars to motorcycles they typify the Japanese obsession with doing the best you can with what you have.

Amazing value. I stopped buying the two big brands a long time ago and have a Yamaha on my rader for the future.
Yamaha is great at producing guitar with reasonable price. I don't understand why people think about other brands like Gibxxx or Fendxxx. I suggest you try a yamaha guitar. It sounds good

Sounds great. The funny part about yamaha pacifica guitars is you pick one up for 200-300$ and think ok, I will upgrade it later or switch to a better guitar, 7 years later still playing the same guitar, I changed the pickups because my came loaded with 2 very high output ceramic humbuckers, and couldn't get a good clean tone out of it. Other than that, great instrument, no need to switch to other guitar. I might be getting the HSS pacifica as well just for the versatility. I swear it's the only guitar you'll ever need. Amazing build quality and reliability, can't go wrong with pacifica.

Just got one Lake placid blue pac 112J and ordered a abolone pick guard and tremolo cover from amazon . It sounds great and fretboard rosewood and vere nice and easy to play

112V has a smaller one that ends at the humbucker.

This guitar is great but unfortunately the one I bought has two problems. One the sixth string the part where you tune is a bit broken and it could be a reason to why my e string keeps buzzing and secondly I cant use the whammy bar cause when I tried to use it it sounded like it was gonna rip the whole piece off

***** It's all to do with advertising, the beats are quite expensive because they invest alot in advertising the brand and that combined with actual production cost and the profit margin, it becomes quite expensive; but they do sell very well meaning profit.

it's made in Indonesia like epiphone and squier, BUT yamaha's QC is absolutely fantastic.
I live here in indonesia, and pacifica 112j costs less than US$ 152, meanwhile squier and epiphone can cost around 250+ dollars

this reminds me of that one time in college, when I was just getting back into guitar and learning how to play properly. My friend asked if he could have a go just to see how she sounded....I felt like I was watching my bestfriend take a go at my girlfriend he was playing that thing so good....I'd never heard her make those kind of noises for me.
I friggin love these guitars I have 2! got a 112x which was my very first and I wont change it for sentimental reasons but I also have just a 112 like this one and Iv upgraded the shit out of it and its just amazing. there the 2 cheapest I own yet they are just as good if not better than my £300 dean,

Yeah, You dont say? I was making a point. It will only make noise when you plug it into an amp. It will be as loud as someone plucking rubber bands when you play without an amp though.

I don't know about that. I just got one a few days ago and It's almost as good as my Schecter, if not better. Maybe stock it's not all that great, but it's a cheap guitar so you have more room for upgrading.
guys i got this with case/ marshall MG15 CDR amp /guitar (black) with strap and pick up wires for £65 (and it hadn't been used!) on Gumtree... go have a look if your a beginner trying to get decent but cheap guitar.

I'm pretty sure that's alright. I think you'll learn better on acoustic, but you can definitely start out on electric, especially if you want to play rock and punk

Just bought one of these for 30 quid , and modified it quite a lot , Kluson machine heads and Tokai electrics , not sure what happened to my Tokai...but the neck is amazing on it...what wood are the bodies made of ?...great playing btw :)
mines quite an old one so the I'm not sure what the wood is...but it still sounds great

Yes that is true . classic/acoustic guitars have a wider neck. Depends what do you want to play. If you want to play something like rock, blues , metal , punk. You should just go with electric.
Ekaj H Yes it is easier, I'm buying an amp for my Yamaha Pacifica I got last month, it cost £55 on ebay, luckily it wasn't majorly far from my house.
The neck on the £25 classical guitar is so much wider than the pacifica and I really couldn't play any of my favourite songs that well because it's designed for fingerstyle playing.The Roland Cube 20GX has an acoustic simulator so it can sound like an acoustic.

I'm really not sure... I've been playing acoustic for a few months only..and I want to buy an electric and learn how to play. Though I'm not sure if I should get this, or just go with the Fender Stratocaster?
I second what the guy says,the Yamaha is an excellent guitar for beginners,quality build,easy to play,versatile.Put in some DiMarzios or Seymour Duncan pickups/better nut/locking tuners & play this trough a good amp and it will be just as a good as a more expensive Fender.I know many pro musicians who use them,because they're very durable instruments.

Most that I have played (not 012 or EG/ERG, those definitely need upgrades) are pretty solid and play and sound awesome stock. I have a 612v (high end) but my 120SJ and RGX121S are awesome stock and don't even need pickups replaced for the most part (although it is ALWAYS tempting to throw in some aftermarket pups like Seymour Duncan, etc.) After a decent setup and change of strings, you're ready.
One thing I do recommend to change is the electrical system: throw proper pots and caps in there and that's it.
No need to spend $$$$ on Fender.

Those who’ve never played a Yamaha Pacifica are those who have no idea what high quality they give you throughout the entire product range. They really do put Fender to shame with every model and every price point.
It might sound cliché but once you go Yamaha, you never go back to paying many times more for other guitars that give you less quality just because of the famous name on their headstocks.
