You folks that are brave enough to work in confined spaces and in/around dams, I solute you all! I went into a few local caves back when I was younger with some folks I know, and that was plenty of dark, cold, confined spaces for me.

Vorallem weil ich auch schon ein paar mal an beiden Stauseen / Mauern war und die Gegend etwas kenne. Leider sieht man nur sehr selten das Innenleben..

Looking at such videos has strange effect on me. On one hand, I am terrible scared of combination of encloused spaces and large amount of water near. Just look of those gates makes me shiver. My worst fear ever is to fall into spillway. But on the other hand, I am absolutely fasinated by all the engineering behind those structures.

Very nice ad interesting video. I've a question: I've read on the Internet (on an italian website) that a power plant uses two gates in order to let the water flowing or not: one which is able to close hermetically the pipe, but it cannot be close while the water is flowing and, viceversa, there is a second one which isn't able to close hermetically the pipe, but it have the strenght needed to be closed while the water is flowing. And, when the power plant is switched on, there is a small pipe which fills the tube between the two gates and, after this, the second gate is opened only after the first (in order not to get the first ermetics gate to be subjected to a water hammer) and viceversa for the closing. Is this power plant like what i've read? (so the hermetic gate would be the one you filmed on minute 0:33 and the secondo gate would be the throttle flap and the small pipe filling the tube would be on the vertical shaft or on the left at minute 7:12)
Hello, at 0:33 it is the dam beam that holds back the water of the lower Mapragg reservoir so that we could drain the pipes to control them. The throttle valve can only be seen at 8:35, the other closing element is a large ball valve in the power plant itself, fairly close to the turbine. Greetings from switzerland.

Hi, Edgar! A couple of questions for you: - At 7:25: what is the purpose of that black metal thing that your co-worker is sitting on? - At 8:52: what does a throttle flap do?
The black "rake" as we call it is there to hold back stones before they can get into the turbine. The throttle valve closes automatically in the event of a major pipe damage or similar in the turbines, so that not all of the water from the reservoir flows through the power plant.
7:57 is this the shaft where the water rises up in the surge chamber near the staircase from the square hole? How tall is the shaft? Absolute awesome videos. Keep them coming.
This is the line that goes straight up into the upper surge tank in the center of the room. But these are the tubes of the lower stage of the Sarelli power plant. But the function is exactly the same. Greetings from switzerland. PS: the square hole is the pressure line that leads the water to the turbines.

Das Gatter muss nur grosse Steine aufhalten damit diese nicht in das Turbinenrad geraten. Die Röhre ist immer ganz gefüllt, aber die Steine bewegen sich am Boden der Röhre. Gruss aus der Schweiz.

Bitte, gerne geschehen, beim Druckstollen Sarelli ist der Durchmesser zwischen 3.3m bis 3m und bei voller Leistung der beiden Turbinen fliesst ca. 31m³/Sekunde durch. Bei der oberen Kraftwerksstufe Mapragg hat der Druckstollen einen Durchmesser von 4,6m und bei voller Leistung der drei Maschinen ergibt sich eine Durchflussmenge von ca. 75m³/Sekunde.
@@eggaeri Wow das muss ein seltsames Gefühl sein, wenn man das erste mal durch solche Stollen läuft.. :D Vielen Dank für die Zahlen. Das sind ja Größenordnungen die kann man sich kaum vorstellen. Das Schwimmbad von meinen Großeltern wäre damit in weniger als zwei Sekunden vollgelaufen, während es mit dem Gartenschlauch früher immer mehrere Tage gedauert hat, das Becken voll zu bekommen..

The hydro electric dams in my area (East coast USA) are nothing like this, at most a throttle flip at the top of the dam and a pressure tunnel to the turbines at about 100 feet at most. Please stay safe and I look forward to more videos from Sarelli and Mapragg. These our a work of art and it's even more so that this company also catches water from rivers on the other side of the mountains and drains in the upper dam. Ich musste auch schon Führungen Leisten. Dabei gerieten gleich zwei Männer in eine Panikerstarrung, drehen aus Angst durch, machten mir die Führung kaputt. Regahelikopter Einweisungen. Wie geht man in solch einer Situation am besten vor wenn dies in tiefster entlegenen Schächten passiert?
Hallo, im Wasserschloss befindet sich die Drossel- oder Sicherheitsklappe und die Zugänge zu den Leitungen wenn alles entleert ist. Und in diesem Video th-cam.com/video/fJVBlhgt9j8/w-d-xo.html siehst für was das obere Wasserschloss gebraucht wird und darunter ist auch eine Beschreibung dazu.

Vielen Dank für die Zahlen. Das sind ja Größenordnungen die kann man sich kaum vorstellen. Das Schwimmbad von meinen Großeltern wäre damit in weniger als zwei Sekunden vollgelaufen, während es mit dem Gartenschlauch früher immer mehrere Tage gedauert hat, das Becken voll zu bekommen..

Repariert werden, muss meistens nicht viel. Ausser diesem Rechen der das Geschiebe aufhält. Es wird vor allem überprüft und der Zustand kontrolliert.

Hallo Edgar, was hat es mit Seil/ Kabel auf sich was aus dem Schrägschacht kommt und oben in der Decke verschwindet und wo geht das Kabel dort hin? Liebe Grüsse Stephanie
An diesem Seil hängt der Wagen um den Druckschacht zu kontrollieren und ausserhalb geht es auf eine Seilwinde. Gruss aus der Schweiz.

Das gehört zum gleichen Kraftwerk, einfach durch die untere Kraftwerksstufe danach fliesst das Wasser in den Rhein.

@@eggaeri Thank you for replying, I have been watching your other videos as you also saw my comment on your other video. The hydro electric dams in my area (East coast USA) are nothing like this, at most a throttle flip at the top of the dam and a pressure tunnel to the turbines at about 100 feet at most. Please stay safe and I look forward to more videos from Sarelli and Mapragg. These our a work of art and it's even more so that this company also catches water from rivers on the other side of the mountains and drains in the upper dam.

Die Wasserkraftwerke in meiner Gegend (Ostküste der USA) sind nichts dergleichen, höchstens eine Drosselklappe an der Spitze des Damms und ein Drucktunnel zu den Turbinen in höchstens 30 Metern Höhe. Bleibt bitte gesund und ich freue mich auf weitere Videos von Sarelli und Mapragg. Dies ist ein Kunstwerk und es ist noch mehr so, dass dieses Unternehmen auch Wasser aus Flüssen auf der anderen Seite der Berge auffängt und in den oberen Damm entwässert.

Ich musste auch schon Führungen Leisten. Dabei gerieten gleich zwei Männer in eine Panikerstarrung, drehen aus Angst durch, machten mir die Führung kaputt. Regahelikopter Einweisungen. Wie geht man in solch einer Situation am besten vor wenn dies in tiefster entlegenen Schächten passiert?
Ist bis jetzt zum Glück noch nie passiert, aber in diese tiefen Schächte gehen wir auch nicht mit den Besuchern.

Hallo, im Wasserschloss befindet sich die Drossel- oder Sicherheitsklappe und die Zugänge zu den Leitungen wenn alles entleert ist. Und in diesem Video th-cam.com/video/fJVBlhgt9j8/w-d-xo.html siehst für was das obere Wasserschloss gebraucht wird und darunter ist auch eine Beschreibung dazu.
