I don’t mind SBMM at face value. I think the problem is that the game gives you 5000 release timings and they all change in millisecond windows. So it’s hard to react when there’s no dedicated servers. I think SBMM only affects the top 1% of the game. As a random rec player it has made my experience 10x better.
Nah if you’re good at the game it was so fun to carry bad people in random rec, now every game is a sweat fest with everyone having a 85+ steal. Plus once you reach MVP this year every game mode takes forever to find a match

Nah the SBMM in the casual modes like rec make no sense when they put a ranked mode in the game. Sometimes I just want to hop online n have some fun non comp games, but when you have a 85+ win % they give you zone teams runnin a cheesy 5'9 pg, with 94 to 96 steal on everyone hawkin lanes and that sucks especially when you have 4 and get an ai

Wide open shots maybe use the right stick but off dribble or hard close outs I’d stick to the button

Rhythm shooting is cool and all, but to give it a bigger green window than button shooting is terrible
If it was the same there would be no point in using it. It makes a skill gap and people just need to adapt

Bro , i have a 63 and i be frying in the theatre . Its supposed to be matchmaking so you would be playing people along your overall and etc
Nah, I never go into online until month 2.
It’s not a mode I care for anyway but 2K patches the game to 💩 after season 1 so I like to enjoy my peace, max out my build and go after the first major patch.

It honestly doesn’t matter if you use the button or right stick if you know your shot. 2k hasn’t patched a jump shot since 2k22 so if u been using the same jumper since 2k23, you should have no problem.
Yeah, that’s not how it works they literally have an algorithm to stop people from hitting too many shots in a row

SBMM gets annoying when you want to just chill and relax, I get why they implemented it but we literally have 2 modes for it (Pro Am & Proving Grounds)
Once you get to Goat tier, normally the everyone is solid on the court but sometimes i like a variety. I get why they did it though cuz a lot of my losses from 2k24 was because of some random throwing a game.
Meanwhile they have nerfed button shooting to the point you can’t even feel what’s wrong with your shot.
Respect to you Smoove for speaking up on the SBMM problem hopefully 2K removes it
sbmm is not the problem. the problem is waht you said at the very end of the video, the matchmaking should gradually open the queue up to players of a wider skill range as time goes on. thats how every game with sbmm works to avoid long queues
Def a good take on SBMM. Sounds relatively balanced aside from when people can’t find games for forever so they’re out there HOOPIN with their 60 ovr’s. That’s gotta change. 😂
the rec as a 3 man or 2 man squad is way better this year can say that for sure last year people would play buddy ball all game or if they didn’t touch the ball in the first few min would start causing turnovers by standing out of bounds. didn’t experience any of that yet this year

Yeah skill based should only be in certain modes like Pro am, Events and proving grounds at max and that’s it. Because zone and 5 out ruin the casual play because teams that are not good and scared would rather run that against 2 random squads instead trying to play comp with it or just not doing that at all casually
I see the zone in rec 24/7 it’s not the game smoove it’s the people that are trynna be sweaty
Some of us been playing with the shot stick for years they finally upgraded the one thing that separated them from live and as far as skill based matchmaking it was needed now with it implemented you see the difference from just feeding skilled players to everyone it’s just proof high win percentage didn’t reflect comp gameplay just bad matchmaking so we know what you get when skill based matchmaking is taken out of 2k
I still got a high win % but man I did love having a game where I could just sit back and destroy some bums. I play random rec and it’s awesome to have SBMM but for squad rec there’s no point in playing it. We just take are asses to proving grounds if we’re playing comp every game 🥲
@@juanvalles3230 lmao I bet it’s a lot more to that like squads going to the randoms court in park that don’t need to be in the game just play people at or above your level and every once in a while a lower skill level it’s literally what ever other game does

Sbmm is great for the rec, proving grounds and pro am but for casual game modes like theatre and park it shouldn’t be sbmm

The skill based matchmaking in the rec wouldn’t be bad if it wasn’t for that me and my 2 friends only run with us 3 then 2 other random people that know each other. We don’t want to go in there and sweat and try and break a zone or go against a 5 out every game or every other game is just not fun when you want to play casually and run the rec together

I’ve been playing Pro-Am 3v3, and my team isn’t all that great tbh (we are all Bronze).
For some reason though, we always get matched up with golds, so I don’t understand how the SBMM works there.
Rhythm shooting is very consistent but at the same time it’s very inconsistent

I think is fair to say squad should only match up with a squad. So they implemented no squad 3v3 in 2k22 for causal and it was fun but can also be frustrating when there afk player or player who intentionally want to loose on purpose then there should be a report button for playing poorly.
You can go into rec with three and they’ll automatically match you up with two people. At least that’s how it was for me a couple days ago
So from what I been seeing, the sbmm matches you depending on your banner status (ex: baller,pro,goat) that’s why you saw a lot of people creating new build for basketball godz.
I don’t mind the sbmm for rec and obviously proving ground and pro am. But I do think is a waste of time putting it on events and theatre. I remember in older 2ks that you match against a sweat I it honestly made me want to be better at the game, but if all your games are at that same pace of difficulty then it really gets old and boring.
This is why if your homies are Lower or higher tier, the game finds a avarage of skill.
I think that’s how it’s been working so far but I could be wrong
When you say right stick do you just mean the rhythm shooting, or just normal stick down method too?
The right stick really is easier though, especially if you just feel it out it’s over

Im not going to lie but i went from 36% fg 24% 3pt. To a a 48.8 fg to 36.53 pt using rhythm shooting. So thats a W

I play with a 4 man squad and got matched up against a full squad 3 times in a row in Rec
What really takes into account match making, 92s and below like the past?. Or is more specific than that.

It should be bigger, but maybe 10-15%..that’s it. Trying to eliminate the way people have been playing for years (using the button to shoot) just to incentivize a new feature in fear of backlash is lazy. I say backlash because we all know 2K crumbles the second the “community” complains about a feature.
Is the random rec skilled based or overall based? Pretty sure it’s overall based.. which is wrong

SBMM has no place in gaming. This has happened in Call of Duty and pushed people away from the franchise cause it DIVIDES THE PLAYER BASE. I personally, as a good 2k player, don't want to play people on my level EVERY GAME. I want to play AGAINST EVERYONE. I want variety. SBMM strips that away. A lot of people will see that as this continues, the game will become repetitive and less fun. We are not 2k league players in a tournament setting. Also, right stick being used for shooting and getting a SIGNIFICANT buff is asinine. It puts a player who doesn't use it or has bad internet at a major disadvantage and then you add SBMM on top of it. Mark my words. There will not be a positive outcome from this as years go on.
