I don’t mind SBMM at face value. I think the problem is that the game gives you 5000 release timings and they all change in millisecond windows. So it’s hard to react when there’s no dedicated servers. I think SBMM only affects the top 1% of the game. As a random rec player it has made my experience 10x better.
Nah if you’re good at the game it was so fun to carry bad people in random rec, now every game is a sweat fest with everyone having a 85+ steal. Plus once you reach MVP this year every game mode takes forever to find a match

I think they were trying to combat pro am teams going in the rec and being sweats. So now if your squad is non comp and just wants to hoop you shouldn't get put against those pro am teams. I see what they were trying to do just poor execution

i love the SBMM this year. i played 90% of my games on 2K24 in the theater and the MM in there was DREADFUL. yes, the games are tougher but it makes you better at the game and use your IQ instead of cheesing against people who aren’t on your skill level.
my main issue with SBMM is it discourages you from playing with any friends of yours that arent as good as you in most games. they'll get put in a lobby where they stick out like a sore thumb and get farmed. it leaves good players with only 3 choices: only play games with other ppl as good as you every single game, play with your more casual friends you have fun chilling with but the experience is bad for them or you, or play alone which gaming has been gearing away from for years now. another issue with SBMM but i dont label it a major point bc its subjective is that not every game is fun when you have to try your absolute best every single game. in fighting games thats fun. youre 1v1 with another player and trying overcome them or learn. but shooters and sports games its not fun every single game just bc youre forced to play the meta every single game. Same thing happens to us, my squad is my IRL friends. There's 6 of us that play, but we might only get 4 on at a time. When we have a squad of 5, we win at a pretty good rate in rec. But then when there's only 4 of us (especially when our secondary guard isn't on) we get matched up against zone teams and 5 out offenses that are hard to compete against with when you have an AI and only one playmaker. Not to mention us playing rec and getting matched up against the same team 3 times in a row, like seriously 2k, surely there's more than 10 people playing the game that we can get matched up against.
most SBMM use a form of Elo rating system. Beating a higher rated player will improve your Elo a lot more than it would hurt to lose to the higher rated player

Nah, I never go into online until month 2. It’s not a mode I care for anyway but 2K patches the game to 💩 after season 1 so I like to enjoy my peace, max out my build and go after the first major patch.

Some of us been playing with the shot stick for years they finally upgraded the one thing that separated them from live and as far as skill based matchmaking it was needed now with it implemented you see the difference from just feeding skilled players to everyone it’s just proof high win percentage didn’t reflect comp gameplay just bad matchmaking so we know what you get when skill based matchmaking is taken out of 2k
I still got a high win % but man I did love having a game where I could just sit back and destroy some bums. I play random rec and it’s awesome to have SBMM but for squad rec there’s no point in playing it. We just take are asses to proving grounds if we’re playing comp every game 🥲

Nothing wrong with 5 out offense or zone. That’s actually realistic. The best offense IRL all runs 5 out and teams play zone defense in the playoffs quite a lot. But in this game, COMMUNICATION and CHEMISTRY is the most important thing for those advanced tactics. Not possible with randoms anyway
I agree it's how the best play, but it's frustrating for us when we go in with a team of 4 (i only play with my IRLs) and get matched up against teams running zone that abuse our AI. I dont get why AI can't shoot for shit this year, teams shouldn't be allowed to completely ignore them this year.

sbmm is not the problem. the problem is waht you said at the very end of the video, the matchmaking should gradually open the queue up to players of a wider skill range as time goes on. thats how every game with sbmm works to avoid long queues
SBMM gets annoying when you want to just chill and relax, I get why they implemented it but we literally have 2 modes for it (Pro Am & Proving Grounds)
Once you get to Goat tier, normally the everyone is solid on the court but sometimes i like a variety. I get why they did it though cuz a lot of my losses from 2k24 was because of some random throwing a game.

I've played 1 "group" rec game but I just had 1 buddy & we played a full stock so we lost, but when I play solo rec? I'm winning like 80% of my games. It hasn't affected my queue times like it has others who play other modes, but SBMM gotta exist when people don't go to the modes they should be playing. Groups of try hards should be going to stage or proving grounds but they'd rather play park or rec to stomp on people so it forces SBMM to be a thing; if people dispersed themselves properly, it'd be less of an issue

I think is fair to say squad should only match up with a squad. So they implemented no squad 3v3 in 2k22 for causal and it was fun but can also be frustrating when there afk player or player who intentionally want to loose on purpose then there should be a report button for playing poorly.
It honestly doesn’t matter if you use the button or right stick if you know your shot. 2k hasn’t patched a jump shot since 2k22 so if u been using the same jumper since 2k23, you should have no problem.
Honestly i just wish instead of proving grounds, they just have a rank across all modes. This way we can visibly track our skill group and progress. Basketball stats are so nuanced so win loss percentage is difficult to determine skill

I’m not sure if it’s completely the same, but sbmm in cod works the same. Higher level players don’t like it but it keeps casual players playing. No sbmm would result in more “pub stomping” but less playtime which means less money for 2k (even though micro transactions make up most of their bottom line)
JUST AN FYI sometimes squads can find their way to play against no squads. I hopped in a no squads game in the silver tier, and got matched up against a full team of legend players. Not sure how it happened, but it is possible.
I’ve been playing Pro-Am 3v3, and my team isn’t all that great tbh (we are all Bronze). For some reason though, we always get matched up with golds, so I don’t understand how the SBMM works there.
So from what I been seeing, the sbmm matches you depending on your banner status (ex: baller,pro,goat) that’s why you saw a lot of people creating new build for basketball godz. I don’t mind the sbmm for rec and obviously proving ground and pro am. But I do think is a waste of time putting it on events and theatre. I remember in older 2ks that you match against a sweat I it honestly made me want to be better at the game, but if all your games are at that same pace of difficulty then it really gets old and boring.
This is why if your homies are Lower or higher tier, the game finds a avarage of skill. I think that’s how it’s been working so far but I could be wrong
Last year in 2k24 it was the same squads and no squads, only difference is in squads you’ll get rookie or MVP status players it was Overall based so if you were below 92 overall you only get easy lobbies that’s why most of the people made builds and stopped at 92 overall hardly any Zones and sweats, yes you can go in with 2 or more players this 2k and last, but in 25 it’s based off of the status, overall and win% etc, it severely punishes me and my friends who play casually and are actually good at the game, I have some IRL that aren’t that great at the game and they have to suffer cuz I’m a red plate 99 it’s either I make a new build or they individually go in solo rec, SBMM doesn’t have a place in casual game modes only in ranked modes. Why have proving grounds and pro am in the first place
I tried right stick shooting. First few games I was absolutely cash every shot I was so happy. Then after like the 6th game of straight 2/2 from three, I went 0/7. Every shot kept saying my tempo was slightly but my release and timing was perfect. 3 more games later I only made ONE 3 pointer. I don’t like stick shooting. The tempo requirement needs to be taken out. In shooting exactly the same and it keep saying my tempo is off but it was perfect when I first tried it
Im literally so good at the game, my 92 always gets 80 overall teammates and we always play against red banner 99s. I hate being punished for being good. The game is no fun.
the skill base matchmaking is being taken advantage of too. the 🧀 is this : MVP (red plates) have a guard and the friend make a 60 ovr Center. Skill base matchmaking will now match up with bad players. Free XP and after Rep when playing against dog shit players
Its 100% not full squad vs full squad only. I went with my friend as a duo to REC and got matched up against people we know and they were full squad. We had 2 + 2 and AI.

It should be bigger, but maybe 10-15%..that’s it. Trying to eliminate the way people have been playing for years (using the button to shoot) just to incentivize a new feature in fear of backlash is lazy. I say backlash because we all know 2K crumbles the second the “community” complains about a feature.

No sbmm would result in more “pub stomping” but less playtime which means less money for 2k (even though micro transactions make up most of their bottom line)
JUST AN FYI sometimes squads can find their way to play against no squads. I hopped in a no squads game in the silver tier, and got matched up against a full team of legend players. Not sure how it happened, but it is possible.
I was running with you that game, we ran into the same team like 3 times!
You can go into rec with three and they’ll automatically match you up with two people. At least that’s how it was for me a couple days ago
When I play rec it’s always a blowout

It should be the same amount of time for green window whether you use the button or right stick.
I’ve been playing Pro-Am 3v3, and my team isn’t all that great tbh (we are all Bronze).
For some reason though, we always get matched up with golds, so I don’t understand how the SBMM works there.
So from what I been seeing, the sbmm matches you depending on your banner status (ex: baller,pro,goat) that’s why you saw a lot of people creating new build for basketball godz.
I don’t mind the sbmm for rec and obviously proving ground and pro am. But I do think is a waste of time putting it on events and theatre. I remember in older 2ks that you match against a sweat I it honestly made me want to be better at the game, but if all your games are at that same pace of difficulty then it really gets old and boring.
This is why if your homies are Lower or higher tier, the game finds a avarage of skill.
I think that’s how it’s been working so far but I could be wrong

Last year in 2k24 it was the same squads and no squads, only difference is in squads you’ll get rookie or MVP status players it was Overall based so if you were below 92 overall you only get easy lobbies that’s why most of the people made builds and stopped at 92 overall hardly any Zones and sweats, yes you can go in with 2 or more players this 2k and last, but in 25 it’s based off of the status, overall and win% etc, it severely punishes me and my friends who play casually and are actually good at the game, I have some IRL that aren’t that great at the game and they have to suffer cuz I’m a red plate 99 it’s either I make a new build or they individually go in solo rec, SBMM doesn’t have a place in casual game modes only in ranked modes. Why have proving grounds and pro am in the first place
I tried right stick shooting. First few games I was absolutely cash every shot I was so happy. Then after like the 6th game of straight 2/2 from three, I went 0/7. Every shot kept saying my tempo was slightly but my release and timing was perfect. 3 more games later I only made ONE 3 pointer. I don’t like stick shooting. The tempo requirement needs to be taken out. In shooting exactly the same and it keep saying my tempo is off but it was perfect when I first tried it

When you say right stick do you just mean the rhythm shooting, or just normal stick down method too?
Im not going to lie but i went from 36% fg 24% 3pt. To a a 48.8 fg to 36.53 pt using rhythm shooting. So thats a W

Solo rec is where its at. These dudes be squad trying to pick on randoms for easy wins. They just need to go to pro am.
Im literally so good at the game, my 92 always gets 80 overall teammates and we always play against red banner 99s. I hate being punished for being good. The game is no fun.
I play with a 4 man squad and got matched up against a full squad 3 times in a row in Rec
the skill base matchmaking is being taken advantage of too. the 🧀 is this :
MVP (red plates) have a guard and the friend make a 60 ovr Center.
Skill base matchmaking will now match up with bad players.
Free XP and after Rep when playing against dog shit players
Its 100% not full squad vs full squad only. I went with my friend as a duo to REC and got matched up against people we know and they were full squad. We had 2 + 2 and AI.
leave pubs as no sbmm but continue to separate squads n no squads.
If you go in with 2 people into randoms you still face full squads

Sbmm in play now online is boring and I refuse to play a sports game with forced sbmm I’ll stay offline until it’s gone
It should be bigger, but maybe 10-15%..that’s it. Trying to eliminate the way people have been playing for years (using the button to shoot) just to incentivize a new feature in fear of backlash is lazy. I say backlash because we all know 2K crumbles the second the “community” complains about a feature.
Rec is fun the ai can’t shoot let’s get that out there I love to see ai shoot n the other team because I know they won’t make a lot
Last thing 2k needs is sbmm smh
