  • The Hawk Knives Deadlock is known as the perfect OTF. From the Model A to the B and now the new for 2021 Model C every version has been a leap forward. This review examines and compares the ultimate autos- the B and C. It looks at what has been improved and changed and what you can expect from the model C in the future. From the revised pocket clip, the the big change in materials, and updated switch design. I also compare the Deadlock against the MUDD, the Microtech Ultratech Bounty Hunter, the AKC OTF, a Ganzo, and the Benchmade Pagan.

      Niiice; both the OTF itself, as always with the Hawks, and, displaying similar consistency, this video. I find your releases are like Scooby-Snacks, as I have come to find your creative output a real treat!
      Okay. Now, with preface in place, one might find as much humor as possible, within thoughts of the roller-coaster my mind momentarily boarded during the big elevation changes.
      I saw the thumbnail and title, but as I thought "new AKB? Hell yes..." I noticed how much it resembled that of the excellent video you did when you got your first Deadlock! As much as I enjoy that, I was disappointed to realize that maybe I had been fooled! TH-cam, which I've come to trust so deeply to never steer me wrong, even if it might be be financially beneficial to put my interests anywhere but the top, might have taken an old clip and snuck it into the list of new clips just to increase view count? In the throes of disappointed disbelief, I reconsidered the release date of the clip. My excitement crested the final hill as I watched you walk up with your machinist's chest o' blades, which any advanced Advanced Knife Bro bro can immediately tell you, is not the way your original Deadlock review kicks off.
      TL;DR: YAY! NEW ADVANCED KNIFE BRO!

    You are headed towards being my favorite knife channel ol' bud. Coming from someone that was handed his first slip joint 47 years ago at the age of 5 and still have a couple of scars from it. Some would say 5 is too young but I beg to differ. Now when me and my coworkers, which are all knife lovers, handle or sharpen knives they seem to come to work with a wound here and there and I ask at what age they received their first knife. The answer is always around ten to twelve years of age. As we all know a kid's brain is rapidly forming during the younger years and I learned so quick from those two scars that I can't remember the last time I drained blood from my body from a knife. Also, my old man would tell me that blood lets you know you are alive and when I would wreck a bike, fall, any time I'd bleed, my old man would always be worried about the bike and would tell me, "Skin grows back. Bikes do not repair themselves." But I digress. Anyways, you are the type of guy I'd like to have as a neighbor. Your witty sarcasm is right up my alley.

    The Hawk's agenda of eliminating blade play is amazing. It's actually prompted many otf manufacturers to follow suit. I was considering a SOG Pentagon until I saw the new dagger blade option for the AKC Evo Extreme. They also have very limited blade play and fairly high quality. What sells me on the AKC is the blade to handle length ratio. They are so much more semetrical than most other otf's. I love the look and shape of the AKC. And the AUS 8 blade steel is good enough for everyday use. And for around $100, I'm sold. When I can find one for sale that is.

  • @mcsquirgle
    @mcsquirgle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Dang these look fun to play with the trigger. All the microtech otf's that i have had end up with problems either opening, closing, or both. Some even come like that from retailers. It was fun to find my name in the patreon supporter list too. Thanks for the vid AKB

By the way believe it or not but my red Dirac has probably 75k firings of the action with ZERO malfunctions. The top button placement is better than the side placement IMO. The Dirac is also the smoothest of the MicroTechs I own. Maybe one day I’ll get a Hawk.

    You gotta be kidding me...a knife that costs over 1k? A *pocket* knife.
    I already have expensive hobbies. I have a tricked out one-of-a-kind hardtail that I built. I can't really hit up single track anymore after my latest shoulder injury and subsequent surgery, due in large part to all the OTB and wipeouts, but I like to marvel at my unique build as I happily vape away in my garage daydreaming about other stuff. Although the deflated tires do take away from its esteem.
    I have a computer in pieces in one of the bedroom closets that I also custom built. At the time it was the cream of the crop. An Athlon MP powered 10k rpm Raptor drives in a raid 0 array with 6GB of ram, all overclocked and stable. I think my boot up was as little as 9 seconds. It's been in the closet for a couple of decades. Maybe it shouldn't count. I imagine it's still decently fast though.
    My latest hobby being performance motorsports. I have a build in progress. A supercharged 4x4 truck, lowered, with an upgraded custom fuel system running e85, custom intake system, and it's about to get cammed with a healthy Brian Tooley Racing PDS cam along with updated exhaust and new valve train. One more week and I can hardly wait. Not including the aesthetics and suspension done I'm well over 10k into that project.
    I don't need some $$$$ OTF. I'm not even a knife person WTF am I doing here!? LOL...I don't need it. Ridiculous. It's not even legal in California, but neither is my truck. What'll I do with it? Open letters and probably look cool doing it. Might look a little dangerous in my wife's eyes which I know she'd like. It'd become a dangerous trinket and looked upon with envy at all my BBQs.
    I don't need it...but I want it. I think I want it. Yup. I want it. James Dean, eat your heart out. I'm getting one too.

Lol, I've done more for my country/community than most ya could put your finger on and here's life's lesson: "The paying doesn't end, regardless how little/much money you have"!!! Anyone who thinks differently doesn't live in the real world!! Hope that all's well with everyone/thing. Btw, the ONLY thing that'll stop that itch is moving your interest to helping others in need. An export as opposed to an import type of thing!🤔 In the psychological aspect, you've a hole inside that ya can't fill no matter how many things ya buy, IMHO!!!👂 Realizing that is the first step, understanding that could take a while.👂 Just say'n!!! Not super available, but they do come up for sale for like half the price of a Microtech, knife role queen. Spyderco sells service kits so “you” can maintain and change the main spring. Yes the button is goofy looking but it works. It’s such a beefy and well made auto, I just don’t get why it’s not more popular, especially at the price they go for. If you can call a $250 knife a “good deal” the Autonomy 2 is a fantastic deal with a Presidents’ Day coupon. I would send you mine for a review but for some reason the thought makes my testiculs crawl up into my belly, must be the wood chopping…..

      @@AdvancedKnifeBro I had the opportunity to test a SOG and was told that the knife is zero blade play. I actually had the feeling of not having blade play on it, seeing on the website I saw that they advertise it as "rattle-free". Do you intend to test the Scott Topper Shrike? And regarding my first comment, I apologize if I sounded offensive, I'm learning English and I'm based on the way of speaking about my country. Here, saying that something is not true just means that the information the person gave is not correct and not that we are calling the person a liar.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The shrike is not really a well known, affordable or easy to obtain knife. They are made one at a time. and I currently don’t have an intention of reviewing it. It seems a bit fragile, I mean it may not be, but it isn’t something you would use much considering it’s more of a collectors piece. If I had the money maybe. So technically speaking there is that one I guess.

    • @johnsun3854
      @johnsun3854 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdvancedKnifeBro Well titanium is usually stronger than aluminium. I would guess it is the same in this case. Both knives are very cool tho.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So it’s benefit it is what in a $1000+ OTF? Gavin explained why 7075 aluminum (he’s explained this in several videos) was better than titanium in the deadlock. So you say well titanium is stronger. So it’s better right? But In the video below he aluminum allows easier assembly and tear down, a better surface for the blade to slide along , and aluminum keeps the weight down while allowing more inlay options. All I see are benefits from the aluminum. The slight strength advantage of the titanium won’t improve a knife that isn’t designed to be some sort of hard use shelter building beater. Every thing you can do with the titanium deadlock you can do with this one.
