to back up ron, its the same up here where the departments in all of the county are volunteer, in my department for example, we run an engine and rescue, engine goes lights and sirens the rescue goes non emergency unless upgraded, like ron says..you just never know.
Really? 3 units for an alarm system. In Hartford, they send 1 engine that goes cold. Not that I agree with the cold part, but I think 1 engine is enough.
Three engines are sent because these are volunteer companies. They don't want to take any chances in case one of the rigs doesn't get out and it turns out to be a fire. Which has happened before.
Ron Roberts I can agree, our station is volunteer and we send out 2 trucks from our station, and the other companies respond as ordered, we have had many alarms to be fires, but also alot of them for false! but i agree with sending more then just 1, because you never know what your rolling up on.
What about Toronto Fire Service, they send a full response to the hospital for an alarm call. As seen from the those roof top videos. Most of them being false and some of them happening more than once in the same day.
