The fact that you're talking about your logic when doing things on the field dramatically helps me understand wtf I'm supposed to do so I can adequately berate myself when I completely disregard good play because I want to touch the ball
Always felt I understood this game better than most, good at positioning, decision making, etc. but I've been held back by my lack of mechanical skills. Watched so many videos about getting better, tried so many different training exercises that would supposedly help, but none of them did. Squishy's advice here to try to hit the ball just as it bounces in freeplay, after trying it for myself for a little while, is definitely the advice I've been needing. It really is a lot harder than it looks, and I'm confident I'll become a much better player if I can master it. Thanks :)
Hey. The problem might be the controllers settings or camera settings.
Try to put the camera FOV the highest and make it covers the map.
For control settings you want to change it so it suits you.

Dont worry about half flipping in plat, I was able to do that since silver. It's a very easy mechanic and anybody at any rank can do it, so you should encourage people to learn it as soon as possible

Been watching you since the very beginning of rocket league and you have a very good explanation of the ego in these ranks I was the same way years ago mainly because I was very young but I still play and I’ve gotten to gc2 from your vids over the years you would be a great couch for these lower ranks
This is one of my favorite series yet. Quit years ago, but thinking about starting up again
I had 700 hours kbm player. Didn't play for like 3-4 years. Came back and actually peaked champ 1 after doing my placements and playing only a couple weeks 😂 got my mechanical skill back pretty fast as well. I used to play mostly 2s, 1s here and there. But now I've grown to enjoy 3s much more. People have stopped using chat a lot man. Only a handful of ggs as well.

Dude fr that shit can win you games. I mostly stay silent and just have a grin on my face, knowing that my winning chance just skyrocketed 😂 Ive started playing overwatch last year and man the mental of these players is like -100. In team games the worst you can do is tilt your teammate.
im not gonna lie ive been stuck at gold 3 division 2 for the past few months, and about a year ago i used to only learn freestyle mechanics which got me 1 game away from diamond, which i was average around plat 2 before training, but now the gold 3s are hitting fast aerials air dribbles and double if not triple touches. also 90% of the games they are speed flipping, i know it wasnt like this a year ago so like umm i think people taking these guides way to serious now lmao... also the whole ego thing is soo accurate, ive had my teammates leave me for 1v2s more times then ive had teammates or just afk. but sick series you make some insane points that alot of people just forget or dont think about.
pretty sure people are leaving because they can tell a smurff really easily. anyone with your level of consistency isnt normal for lower ranks

Bonus challenge for the bonus dribble drill if u can make it so u reach the speed u need before hitting the ball and stop boosting. There are a lot of times in-game where u end up want to hit the ball up like that when u have low-boost
I feel like watching you slow down the game and look for the space wouldve opened the mind of a plat. I'd love to see you focus on that more
The early forfeits happen in plat also. I hate to forfeit because it’s the sure way to never get better, but I will if my teammates vote first and we’re more than 4 goals behind with no time to tie or if my teammates get so angry they turn on me and start scoring own goals in a very obvious manner.
all ranks are very toxic.
But, even if low ranks base mechanics are very bad, it's easy to spot you're smurfing, just by ow calm and precise you are.
you realized that in gold over 50% of open nets are missed, so when they see you making no errors, some just give up hope. They could try to do their best, but you won't let them win anyways :)))
you're being fair, don't mistake me, but don't think they can't spot your actual skills.

I'm really curious to see how this 'they are not professionals' mentality is gonna work in champ with people redirecting, doubletapping, flip reseting.
As a champ my self I can almost guarantee that he’ll still win with minimal mechanics his game sense and positioning are so good that the players won’t have a chance to pull off crazy mecs
As a champ as well i think the basics will beat any high level mechanics most of the time, especially in champ
As a GC, we grandchamps are still shit, you guys just overthink everything
Go watch Flakes, he did a road to SSL series using no mechanics of any kind except for a speed flip when he got to around GC. He made the nuttiest mechanical players look like idiots with insane fakes and cuts. Admittedly he’s probably the best in the game at those, but they definitely take less practice then say, a musty double reset or something crazy like that.

It is meant for people in these ranks to see and learn that watching the play and just position yourself right is all you need to make a good play. What the golds and plats are doing is focusing on the ball and hit it hard(with a flip) everytime which clearly isnt the key to smart and concistent gameplay. Muffins is sitting in mid waiting for the ball to come to him instead of him rushing to the ball. Yes perfect touches every time but he is ralely at super sonic speed and never makes powerhits

I don't really agree with people who smurffing, it's very unfair to players who strive every day to improve and rise in rank. And it's really frustrating to play with high ranked players with other accounts. My humble opinion.
I agree. Although this is really for educational purposes lol. But I can't imagine doing it for "fun". Rocket league is great because of the challenge. Otherwise you might as well just free play

Hey squishy, I have a request for the series that I hope you're willing to do. I have always kinda used your style of play as a model of how I strive to play and have found all of your videos and commentary extremely helpful for me to push up in rank and improve on my skill.
Anyways, I was hoping you could add the control camera again. That's something that I miss and I feel could really help me figure out what kind of movement mistakes I'm making.

Those are pretty old school training drills. If you watch some of Musty's early stuff those are all tried and true drills. I think the best piece of advice i took in was don't do drills for more than 20mins at a time.. you go numb to it, play a few games or something and then come back to it.

Also your for your silver video, you're tactically still playing to strong. Take more time / stall before executing your reaction. Do take the panic shots, since it matches the descripted elo. And give the opponent some opportunity to take the score lead, feel positive during the game, or so they show their best to you.
To be fair, you could just commentate on a real silver/gold match, with real silver or gold players.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with that one right there. Sometimes we can look down on our own teammates when we notice that they are lacking in some aspect compared to ourselves.
But we need to realize that we don't see the whole picture yet, and should rather try to identify each other's strengths and work with them.
That's how you rank up.
If anyones familiar with the Dunning-Kruger effect, the peak in rocket league is between P2-D1, thats means that these ranks are litterally scientifically the most toxic ranks, their teamates will always be the reason they lost.
To be fair to the ppl leaving the games, you are blatantly smurfing by consistently hitting your shots accurately.

For noobies, pick a training pack that you like and that is also challenging, you don't need to play online, focus on shots, fast paced shots, try to score the fastest you can, push yourself, do that for about 30 mins 1 hour, chilling and you'll get better and don't get frustrated you're not winning, just improve in your mechanics and the rest is a piece of cake. I improved the most just offline chilling and in training packs

The thing with trying to match the rank is most of gold / plat is luck, Your a pro so you never miss the ball you never make mistakes so your never gonna be fully matching them
But no hate cause it's not like you can just play like a bot either or it wouldn't be entertaining
there's nothing luck based in this game. once you get a solid foundation and transcend you mentality, playing gold/Plat will become simple and you will move on to diamond.

what in the world? My experience with G3 is NOT like that at all. I was once a D3, but I can't do it anymore. In my experience G3 is like P3 now. I will sweat it out trying the best i can, and these guys are flicking, and passing, and occasionally doing tricks with mechanics. Watching your video is like watching Silver 1 as of September 17th 2024. I could only wish to be matched with these people so I climb back up.

Let's GO! I half flip in plat 1. It just takes a few minutes to learn. Then play Heatseeker and do half flips while you wait for the ball to come back. you will get in down easy. I still can mess it up. lol PLat I am.
