- Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens had a near run-in at the 2023 Academy Awards. The exes, who dated for nearly a decade before splitting in 2020, were spotted within feet of each other outside the Vanity Fair Oscars party. The 'Elvis' star lost Best Actor to Brendan Fraser, but he didn't arrive to the bash empty handed. Austin and his girlfriend, Kaia Gerber, walked the carpet together. Vanessa arrived solo, but she showed off her engagement ring from fiancé Cole Tucker.
It's funny that people say that Vanessa is after Austin's fame. Since for 10 years, he enjoyed her fame, she supported him, he lived in her mansion, these arguments are ironic. Remembering that Vanessa is not only an actress, but also a businesswoman and singer. Who was Austin without Vanessa? It was nobody, she practically gave the guy a job.

When they broke up, I heard it did not end well between them. Vanessa has admitted that it got on her nerves when girls would blatantly flirt with him in front of her. I'm just speculating, but I think there may have been alleged hook-ups while they were still together.

And get engaged Vanessa was his partner during his Elvis filming career so I’m sure he’s thankful for that relationship it honestly seems less awkward like they didn’t even notice each other

And 20s is a very crucial time period and that's when you actually become an adult and realise what you need and don't. Austin probably did not wanna marry so early and he was like what 28 at that time and he literally got casted in a big movie which could potentially change his career (Elvis, and it absolutely made him a star) they both probably realised they wanted other things in life. I can understand why Vanessa avoided Austin because sometimes ex couples can’t always be a part each other’s life even when they’re friends. They can just be on good terms and it would be very awkward if Vanessa and Austin to spend time together again especially when they each have their own new love interests. Some ex couples just don’t want their reunion to be very complicated to each of their new love interests.
It’s just not a healthy emotional life to continue to communicate with your EX, it just stirs the pot(unless there is child or something like that). You broke up for a reason. I think they tried to make it civil, but they are going to run into each other if they are in the same biz. They have clearly moved on to love other people.
