So, story time. This was actually the first ever episode of Robot Wars I ever watched (at about 4 or 5 years old). To this day I can still vividly remember spending the whole episode in anticipation of what this Tornado machine was and imagining it to be the most colossal thing in existence if all these robots were going through this just to fight it. Then I saw it and as a dumb kid was kind of underwhelmed, only for it to then blow me away by beating this seemingly lethal robot in a matter of seconds. So yeah, this episode will always have a place in my nostalgic heart. It's the reason why robots like Terrorhurtz and Tornado remain among my favourite machines to this day, and more importantly it's what began an obsession that in many ways still lasts today.
Has anyone ever noticed how Damtonkia has defeated (and put out of main series) both Chaos 2 and Hypnodisc with easy? If anything, this flipper gained a legendary credit in history for having dispatched 2 of the "Big Threes" of original Robot Wars.
Whilst Hypno-Disc retired after this, Sir Chromalot did attempt to enter series 7 (This version being an invertible shiny box with a pair of saws). Apparently, Scorpion tore it apart in the qualifiers.
This was the episode I saw live when I was about 5. It was an amazing experience. I was supporting Hypno-Disc throughout, so I must say the result of the first match was disappointing to a 5-year-old me, but it was still brilliant!
I love Jonathan Pearce saying Tornado is going to uses its static scoop to throw Terrorhurtz out, I guess Storm 2 did it eventually kinda? lol. :p I actually really enjoy this episode, an interesting variety of robots. But damn for all the build up (like literally its the entire point of the episode lol), that was a dull final.
Hypno-Disc and Sir Chromalot's final match ever in Robot wars. At least Hypno-Disc avoided Mr Psycho when it was flipped out of the arena by Dantomkia.
I think Dantomkia might have been more of a challenge for Tornado than Terrorhurtz was. If Dantomkia could have got under Tornado with its wedge front and pushed Tornado to the edge and got a good flip. But then Tornado is lightning quick too, as we saw.
Iron awe actually is pretty awesome... it's got an axe better than most axe bots, and a flipper better than most flippers. Pretty cool. I also like it's somewhat derpy, somewhat menacing look lol.
Out of curiosity, I'd really like to see what robots like Shatter, Tombstone, Sawblaze, etc, would be able to do, if they were each given a man sized ballistic dummy with simulation bones. I know, it would be super dark (way too dark for Battlebots to do lol) but aren't you curious??? I say someone rich should fund this in the name of science and to demonstrate why you should be safe with these monsters.
This show had some great matches but damn that final match pissed me off. They have Terrorhurtz go through all those matches only to get jobbed out Daniel Bryan style against Tornado in the end. Why couldn't they just make a new belt for Terrorhurtz instead?
That's not the point of the Challenge Belt. The holder gets to keep it until a challenger takes it off them. If the holder beats three challengers in a row they get to keep it permanently, which is why - after Tornado first did just that - they made a second challenge belt - which Tornado just retained in this fight.
So miffed hypno disc went out so early, if he was left in the arena i would like to think he would have been able to inflict some damage. Last ever appearance as well 😕😢
I agree I think razer would have destroyed tornado if it got through to the final with that devastating crushing beak like it’s done with pretty much everything
I love Robot Wars it is great hope to see another series Let the wars begin!!!!! Shamone hee hee hee who bad draco malfoy I love Craig Charles he is so passionate and so enthusiastic
Terrorhurtz was awesome unfortantly the robot i moste hate wins the cheaters of the sith wars razer would have won if they played fair and thats why i hate tornado
@@robotwars666here was nothing in the rules to say they couldn’t have that device. We’ve had walkers and other machines in the series that were just as large if not larger and were allowed to compete
It’s what they had to do to win though. Most robots had self righting mechanisms by this point which countered being flipped so flippers needed to go for the out of the arena flips in order to win cos of limited co2 etc.

8:48 You can see Hypno Disc still spinning over the arena wall. That’s probably the first time I’ve seen a robot move once they’ve been flipped out.
This episode marks the final televised appearances of both Steve Merrill and Mik Reed. May they rest in peace.
Wait, both of them passed away? I knew about Steve Merrill, but Mik Reed too?
Sadly yes. Mik Reed passed away a couple of years ago.
