Enjoyed your building Corsair airplane. I'm 67 yrs. old ,at present I'm fighting Cancer , looking for something to take my mind off my heath problems. This my be the answer for me. So thank you .
fellow Corsair fan at 23 here, hope that if I meet you in the heavens that its in the cockpit of our F4Us, and not in a post mortem sense. Good luck and godspeed, fellow aviator.
I've watching you guys and building for years! My boss just had me order a DJI Matrice 200 that I will be piloting and running our drone program. So, watching you and playing with these things has been great for my career as well as general fun. Thanks for everything!
It's seriously incredible what you guys have done with a few electronics and foam board. Those looks just as good as some of the parkzone models. Congrats guys! Keep it up!
My brother and I used to have an old flight simulator and he would always fly the p-51 and I would fly the Corsair and this reminds me of our sleepless nights of playing this flight sim and explaining why one was better than the other.
Easily two of the best fighters of ww2, really comes down to pilot skill. But there is a real life case of a Corsair shooting down a Mustang in the Soccer war. :)
great classic Flite Test episode! I was laughing, I love Peter's experiments. Looks like he might need some expo on that clipped wing corsair, even though he doesn't use expo. Keep up the great work and awesome AP!
+fasfan i think something about the corsairs wing design was pretty much why they cant fold the wing , i forgot the history of it but i think there was a documentary i saw about the corsair that mentioned something about that famous wing design
+henry montero They put a massive propeller on it due to the beefy new "double wasp" radial and since its a carrier bird it needed heavy duty landing gear. They couldn't put extra long landing gear on it because it wouldn't tuck up in the wing; so, they bent the wing to get the clearance for that big 13'+ prop. From the bend outward the wings will fold up and rotate back for storage.
If you don't know the history of the Corsair, it's wing was designed during WWII to allow the plane to make impossible vertical dives AND pull out of them without the G's or air pressure ripping or folding the wings. Even with relatively weak materials like foam and glue, you'd need to get it moving probably faster than you could ever make a model that size go. Great design for people with excessively powerful equipment.
One of my most favorite planes ever is the Supermarine Spitfire and since I have limited space, if a mighty mini Spitfire came out I would immediately buy one, it would be awesome.
for you guys asking for a larger corsair! I Agree lol... My Favorite and no disrespect to the p-51 but it aint a real warbird unless its got a round cowl!!! Now for the rest. Just print the tiled plans at 300 percent. Be careful with the wing and triple up the support pieces in the wings. I am working on one now hopefully will be ready in a few days. Maybe add some strength to fuselage etc by doubling up areas that look flimsy and use paint sticks or Popsicle sticks for reinforcement. Sandwich them in the wings maybe? Ill let you know how it works. At triple you still have a nice sized plane to work with with roughly 54 inch wingspan.
Is there any chance of a bigger Corsair speed build kit? The Corsair has always been my favorite American plane, and I'd love a bigger model to fly around
Flite Test, have you ever tried canting the tail to one side. When you have a lot of torque from a powerful motor, it causes 'tail buffeting', where the air flow from the engine is disrupted by the tail; this is where the rudder trim comes in. If you cant the tail, it is easier on the rudder, the rudder trim, (and if RL) and the pilot's legs. If you want a real life example take a look at the AD/AT Skyraider, built by Douglas for the US Navy, and designed in a hotel room in one night. (seriously, this plane has history)
Now these look awesome! The paintsceme sure does a lot for the warbirds. You guys should have painted the original ft-51 like that, then I would have been more exited for that plane.
I use the recommended motor for this P-51. For the motor I find on the Internet that a 5 to 7 inch Prop is recommended. It doesn't fly with 6x3, fly great with 6x5. But the motor is way too 🔥🥵 The only difference is that I use 9g Servo..
Awesome to hear you are flying a 2204. I have some leftover Cobra 2204 1960kv motors I don't fly anymore and was wondering what to do with them. Now I just need to find out how to flash leftover 12A multirotor ESCs with different firmware to fly planes with. Specifically, I would likely want to flash Rotorgeeks V4 12A BLHeli Escs with something other than BLHeli, for this. I doubt BLHeli would work for this. Or would it? I also have 6 RCTimer/DYC SN20A SimonK escs leftover. Might be able to try with those.
Hey flite test, one of your ft fans here, you guys have tons of ft planes that you probably don't have enough space to store them, so do a giveaway itwould be awesome!!
What are you using for your camera ship? Also, as a challenge build, why not try the Do 335. You'll probably need extra bracing to counteract the torque of the props.
Dear Josh - at 1:34 about speed into the wind. The plan will not slow down when turning into the wind. Can we please kill this missconception once and for all. The plane has no ”idea” of the winds speed relative earth. Other than turbulence and sudden fast shifts. I a stead breeze the plane will fly the same indicated air speed regardless of the winds speed over ground. What Josh is noticing is the speed over ground. The speed over ground is indicated air speed +- the wind speed over ground. If Josh had had a Gps (speed over ground) an plus indicated airspeed (speed relative the air) telemetry in the plane he would have seen that the indicated airspeed (pito tube) did not vary very much but the gps speed over ground goes up going down wind and goes down going upwind. When the plane lands or takes off is when the windspeed is “noticed” by the plane.
hi what is the total weight of this plane? i made a plane out of foamboard the wing span is 24 inches my motor is 950kv and 8/4 propeller and 3s battery, total weight is half a kilo is my set up correct pls need some advice first time to build own plane thanks a lot
I built a mini zero from you guys but after a few flights I decided to do a high speed loop, and the bottom of the loop the wings split in half and my plane went straight down. Will this happen with the mustang?
+Nic Lechner Yea, to be honest, i thought it was the P-63, just because of the color scheme. But that's probably due to playing too much War Thunder. But i can see the P-39 in it now..
It would be amacing if you made plans for the FW-190 D with the short wings. To me that is the most beutiful ww2 fighter. It might be a bit dificult to fly...
I would like to build this but with recent experience of me buying and building a pun jet that never successfully flew, idk if I should try this plane out or retry the pun jet again. Can someone give me some input on what I should do?

Thanks for the shout out FliteTest!
Nic Lechner I am sure they would say welcome
My mighty mini Corsair flew like your white one at 6:05. I pulled the electronics and put them in a mini Master Hellcat. Now it's amazing!
It's seriously incredible what you guys have done with a few electronics and foam board. Those looks just as good as some of the parkzone models. Congrats guys! Keep it up!
The aerial camera work in the episode is great! I love the shot at 1:55
Peter's speed-demon Corsair looks fabulous, like something out of 'Crimson Skies'! Another great episode, thanks for keeping up the good work guys!
Always a great episode when rockets are involved!
Wow, the corsair is amazing! I will definitely get my hands on one of those!
Been waiting so long for the corsair and its awesome that its a mini! awesome plane guys!
the rocket plane was awesome I love watching your videos. I learn so much.
My brother and I used to have an old flight simulator and he would always fly the p-51 and I would fly the Corsair and this reminds me of our sleepless nights of playing this flight sim and explaining why one was better than the other.

instablaster
good job Peter and Josh.. keep it up!
Wow they fly beautifully guys!
This is one of my favorite episode .... keep up the great work !!
OMFG!! I was just wishing ten minutes before the video is for a corsair !!!!
Corsair is my favorite plane!! I think you two need to put streamers on your planes and have some dogfights.
+fasfan YES!!!!
Yeh like air Bourne laser tag!
+fasfan i think something about the corsairs wing design was pretty much why they cant fold the wing , i forgot the history of it but i think there was a documentary i saw about the corsair that mentioned something about that famous wing design

Steve D The wings do not fold back. They do however fold up. Otherwise you are correct in everything else.

FINALLY. Thank you I've been waiting years for a corsair!!!
You have a mighty mini mustang and corsair, now you need a mighty mini spitfire. Can`t wait to build mini mustang and fly it.
One of my most favorite planes ever is the Supermarine Spitfire and since I have limited space, if a mighty mini Spitfire came out I would immediately buy one, it would be awesome.
ornithopter with rocket assisted take off. go go go!
I just bought the P40 I can't wait to put it together.
i need to learn painting them, they are looking good
for you guys asking for a larger corsair! I Agree lol... My Favorite and no disrespect to the p-51 but it aint a real warbird unless its got a round cowl!!! Now for the rest. Rocket motors, outstanding! Love you guys!
That P-39 is so awesome!
+cincysneads Check it out! www.nerdnic.com/sonic-series-nnp-39.html
I know right
Is there any chance of a bigger Corsair speed build kit? The Corsair has always been my favorite American plane, and I'd love a bigger model to fly around
well, looks like I am going to get into fixed wing sooner than I thought, I love the corsair!
LOVE THIS!!!! great job getting both ASAP!!! love my ft mustang! you guys rock
id love to see plans for a bigger corsair!
I Love flite test they are always so awesome
I have been waiting for this, finally a corsair!
I'm way too late, but that rocket launch was freakin' EPIC!!!!!!

(seriously, this plane has history)
Make something like the circle plane but put the fuselage in the middle of the circle instead of below it like last time.
Peter said he couldn't fold the wing of the Corsair. That sounds like a challenge!
Great video but my backyard is way to small for a fix wing. But the weather is nice all year long in "Southern California"
Now these look awesome! The paintsceme sure does a lot for the warbirds. You guys should have painted the original ft-51 like that, then I would have been more exited for that plane.
Yea next time a little shielding on the fuselage for the rocket motors.
that corsair looks siccckckkkkckc awesome
It would be interesting to see one for the slow end of the speed spectrum...Rgds...Laurie
my two favorite aircraft
You guys rock for so many reasons!! Can't wait to build both these little guys!
I love the Corsair model
I use the recommended motor for this P-51. For the motor I find on the Internet that a 5 to 7 inch Prop is recommended. It doesn't fly with 6x3, fly great with 6x5. But the motor is way too 🔥🥵 The only difference is that I use 9g Servo..
you guys finally made another video
Peter's turning into the swede😂😂😂
Super cool planes.
Can you fly them with a 4 blade propeller ?
They would look even better.
Oh my, that is so cool. I'd like to see you guys make more WW2 warbirds. What about an A6M2 or an A7M2 next time!
Awesome to hear you are flying a 2204. I have some leftover Cobra 2204 1960kv motors I don't fly anymore and was wondering what to do with them. Love the planes I wonder if the rockets motors under the wings would work? Like on a ME 262
Finally! Time to break out the foam for a corsair :D
I'd like to see a mighty mini WWI Albatross. In theory, a mini bipe should be lots of fun in a smaller backyard.
Mini Mustang plans? Mustang is my favorite plane and would like to build it.
Now you just need the F-82 Twin Mustang!
great planes guys
It would be cool if you guys made a mighty mini spitfire. I would like to own all three
please make a p38 since there are not many RC Planes p38 out there
Hey flite test, one of your ft fans here, you guys have tons of ft planes that you probably don't have enough space to store them, so do a giveaway itwould be awesome!!

Josh nice shades brother 😎
this is the best channel ever
Best freakin channel ever
+Jacob Hardy (JacobHardy64) psst its mattmck from sp
+Matthew Mckay haha sweet! Of course you watch this
SP assemble!
+Jack Heffernan SP ASSEMBLE!
This channel is getting a little stale, I have followed it since 2013.
northern ohio here... gotta love our weather bros
Thank you Peter. I Laughed so hard this morning.
hi what is the total weight of this plane? i made a plane out of foamboard the wing span is 24 inches my motor is 950kv and 8/4 propeller and 3s battery, total weight is half a kilo is my set up correct pls need some advice first time to build own plane thanks a lot
How many channels do I need for the p51 mustang? I'm new to this so I don't know. And can you guys make a p38 Lightning please.
What is weight to fly and wingspan ?
I wonder how this plane would do on a cobra 2206 2100kv with a 5in bullnose props and 4s:D
lol that would rip right out of the posterboard XD
+Liam Esterhuizen yea :D
+FliteTest Do you use DJI Products for filming from the sky?
8:19 - "it was faaaster" Great episode guys
You should make more of this
is the flight test forum down/? it wont allow me to connect. :( nice plane peter. rock on.
Peter should make the wings foldable and a big Guinea pig to drop it out of
Can you do a video on how to build peters corsair in this video. That would be AWESOME!
+brickbuilder happy Both are being sold as kits, so there will be build videos for each :)
awesome it would be even better if you could make it fit a normal power pod
I built a mini zero from you guys but after a few flights I decided to do a high speed loop, and the bottom of the loop the wings split in half and my plane went straight down. Will this happen with the mustang?
What if you put the rocket motors in the fold of the wing?
FINALLY great looking planes :D
Nice episode! more rockets! When is the Shinden and Mig3 comming? Keep going great job!
Hey guys at flitetest, I was wondering the difference between a 3d plane vs a f3a plane
Always fun to watch.
Bf-109 next! It would be and easy foam board one because it is squareish
Why didnt you upload a video yesterday? It doesn't matter this was awesome!
they wound look great with long streamers attatched on tails
Guys the yellow plane was a P-63 not a P-39. P-39 has a wing closer to the shape of a spit. p-63 has a wing closer to a BF 109.
Either way, the Zero-Tail is a terrible aircraft.
(P-39, P-400, P-63)
+Joey Bascetta It's actually a P-39. Check it out at www.nerdnic.com
+Nic Lechner Yea, to be honest, i thought it was the P-63, just because of the color scheme. But that's probably due to playing too much War Thunder. But i can see the P-39 in it now..
Can you guys make a large corsair? I got the mustang for Christmas and would like to add a large corsair too my air force.
try making a sr-17 black bird
I want to put a pico cam in it for fpv. and also what's the run time on all of the power pack set up's?
So you try doing Galloping Ghost style for The Corsair huh?
my friend how do i buy one Flite Test Mighty Mini Corsair Electric Airplane Kit (609mm) do have some informant on how i can go about doing so
I always wanted to find a C-119 ,is there a plan for one in your inventory?
I would love to buy a kit for a mighty mini and large size p38
It would be amacing if you made plans for the FW-190 D with the short wings. To me that is the most beutiful ww2 fighter. It might be a bit dificult to fly...
Must make a video on how the mini mustang was painted
Review the Eflite p-47 D Thunderbolt!!! (The Jug). Please!!!
I would like to build this but with recent experience of me buying and building a pun jet that never successfully flew, idk if I should try this plane out or retry the pun jet again. Can someone give me some input on what I should do?
Plus I have just ordered a stinger 64 edf jet from HK, I want something to practice with.
