- Grim, Grimy Grove is a Stage found in a mysterious version of Super Mario 64.
Description:
GGG, (Grim, Grimy Grove) is a large, but cramped stage taking place in a seemingly abandoned city deep in a forest. It takes place during night-time, with the rising sun barely being visible thorugh the tree line.
The buildings are made mostly with white bricks and wooden windows, varying in height and size. Vines crawl along the walls, allowing mario to climb up to reach certain areas. If the vines aren't overlayed on the wall and simply a texture, they aren't climbable.
Decoration pieces like benches, wooden lamp-posts and signs line the dirt paths weaving in-between the houses. Several alley-ways and street corners can be explored, with store fronts and stalls lining the decrepid walls.
This stage is very platforming focused, with varying levels of elevation. Many of the Roof Tops hide secrets, like coins, one-ups and enemies. However, the stage always manages to make you feel small, as there are always taller buildings you can't reach. Thin, wooden bridges stretch between certain balcones and windows as well.
In the middle of the stage lies a tall church that Mario can enter, leading into a sub-area. Several graves are placed in close vicinity to the church.
Many of the doors in the stage can be entered, into small interiors allowing mario to ascend inside to reach higher parts of the level. Most rooms are simple, having chairs, drawers, and the occasional painting, but some have uses outside of reaching higher parts of the stage, for example, one of the stars mentioned later on. (NOTE: Camera can be very problematic in these parts of the stage, due to the tight corners and cramped rooms.)
Enemies:
In terms of enemies, the stage is simple. Goombas and Koopas walk on surface level and Chuckyas wait paitiently on the roof-tops to throw Mario to the streets below.
Interestingly, scuttlebugs inhabit the stage as well, having the abality to walk on the walls. Mario can jump-kick to kill them in this state.
Location:
GGG can be found in the Grand Basement, in an area covered in vines. This area is located behind a door, very close to the staircase above the Gleaming, Glowing Abyss Room.
Stars located so far:
High Rooftops, Higher Jumps!
Mario must figure out a way to reach the highest building (not including the church mission,) and grab the star at the top. This involves wall-kicking between walls, weaving in and out of the buildings and avoiding enemies along the way.
Balancing Between the Roof-Tops:
A small island is floating by the southern edge of the stage. Mario must reach the island using a bridge connected to one of the nearby balconies. Multiple Amps spin along the bridge, making it more difficult to cross.
8 Red Coins Amongst the Towers:
All of the red coins are hidden high up, most hiding inside Cork Boxes. However, Some float between the buildings requiring mario to preform tricky long jumps to reach them. The star spawns on a Roof Top Garden close to the middle of the stage.
Breaking and Entering for Five Sneaky Secrets:
5 windows in the stage are cracked. If Mario finds all of them and kicks them down, he'll get said secrets. The star spawns outside of the church.
Secrets of the Crumbling Church:
The church in the middle of the stage can be entered, leading into a small sub-area. You walk through a room with benches to acess a door at the other end, that leads into the tower with a platforming section.
This platforming section has mario jump between wooden scaffolding and decrepid platforms, to reach a door at the top. The Forest's skybox can be seen through cracks in the structure, but cannot be acessed due to invisible walls.
When mario enters the door at the top he's taken back into the town, onto the church's uncreachable platform, where he can get the star.
(Pelle here, i'm back! Overall, i'm happy with this one, the volume mixing could probably have been done better though. Oh well! Leave advice if you have any as always!)
