I HONESTLY would be SO HAPPY if my husband had friends who just "come over" and then they all decide to start renovating something. Anything. We've been in this house 12 years. Last summer my husband FINALLY started working on doing a new patio. Last summer, it was the storage shed. (Which I'd been asking for for 10 years). The summer before, the deck pergola. The house we lived in before, for 11 years never DID get the patio or deck replaced....and they were a shambles.
Otto's already sitting and scooting unassisted on a ride-on toy??? Wow, that kid grew fast! Heidi, are you giving them Miracle Gro? Taylor, the backyard is coming together really fast - and looking good, as Heidi also is. ^5 to you both and all who helped. Bright blessings.

I live in California, which is in a worse drought, so I am very water conscious. Beautiful green lawns are a huge waste of drinking water (unless you have a gray water system installed.)

Minor point - Portland cement is an INGREDIENT of concrete. The two terms are not synonymous. Hence, it is not a "cement truck," it is a concrete truck, Dude Dad.
That is the wettest concrete I have ever seen why you was gone for an hour it was being poured it's before they start a finishing it you have to pack it and then start finishing work after it dries a little bit
I don't think people appreciate how heavy that hose is. It is full of concrete so just imagine trying to hold a 5 inch diameter by 8 feet' long concrete cylinder for 8 hours a day.
