AlSalaamu Alaikum, here are my notes for this video (please excuse any typos): Inaabah = to go back or return to Allah (higher level than Tawbah) There are 2 types of Inaabah 1. Return back to Allah (all creation, Muslims or not, will return to Allah). When in a dire situation, that individual will turn back to Allah. 2. Inaabah of the Wali of Allah, Inaabah of servitude to Allah. Inaabah to his worship. Inaabah to the love of Allah. It has 4 aspects: - love of Allah - to submit to Allah - To Run or to hurry to Allah (race to do good deeds to attain pleasure of Allah) - to turn away from anything other than Allah Inaabah is returning to the truth Returning to the truth to restore, repair, and correct with confession and submitting excuses to Allah, then start correcting your actions Fulfill the covenant that you made with Allah when you made Tawbah. Return to your condition of obedience and submission to Allah. Tawbah is answering the call of Allah. Inaabah is returning to Allah completely in every condition. How? In your waking hours, before you sleep you make adhkar, when you wake up make adhkar, say bismillah before you eat, eat halal etc. Now that you’ve returned to Allah through Tawbah and Inaabah, you must proceed with involving yourself in good deeds and calling others to goodness. This will repair the damage that you did previously. Ibn AlQayyim said “Tawbah followed by lack of productivity [not doing good and dedicating your life to Allah (بطالة)] will not benefit you. It is necessary that Tawbah is coupled with good deeds.” Ibn AlQayyim said: الدين كُلُه عهدٌ وَوَفاء Ibn AlQayyim said “the whole Deen is a covenant and loyalty (fulfilling that covenant)” The prophet mentioned that ”One of the traits of hypocrisy is to betray after taking a covenant” Ibn AlQayyim said “the condition of an individual (the way a person conducts himself) will either affirm that he is following this covenant or betraying it” Make your actions surpass your speech. Inaabah will lead you to perform righteous deeds. What does going back to Allah mean? Repairing 3 things 1. Exit from the consequences - fulfill the covenant between you and Allah - repair the damage you’ve done, fix or undo the damage to the best of your ability - return the rights of the people that you’ve wronged or harmed 2. Feel the pain of every mistake you make - feel the pain when you make a mistaken - this will be a proof that the individual has started entering into Inaabah in contrast to the one who does not feel pain when sinning, this person’s heart is dead - you feel the pain even when your brother makes a mistake and is doing wrong, you worry about him. It will feel as if you have made the mistake and he does not feel happy about his brother’s mistake. If you do feel happy when your brother makes a mistake, this is a sign that your heart is hardened. 3. Catch up with what you’ve missed - compensate for what you missed (like your prayer, or the fact that you haven’t read Quran etc.) Do more! - go back to Allah with 3 things: islah, wafaa, and hal - wafaa: cleanse yourself from the sweetness of the sin - leave the people of heedlessness with fear for them and hope for yourself, and to research the reasons of servitude - once Inaabah becomes sincere and complete, you will be cleansed of the sweetness of the sin and will feel pain when remembering the sin - How? maybe struggle to suppress the sweetness of the sin, or some people just feel pain automatically, effortlessly when remembering the sin, the latter is better. - why is the one who effortlessly feels pain when remembering the sin better? - the one who is trying to suppress the sin is busy with trying to suppress the sin, whereas the one who effortlessly feels pain when remembering the sin is busy with feeling the pain of remembering the sin. - for example, another clarifying point for the above point: the one who has reached the level of tranquility/peace is going to feel the sweetness of worship and get the reward more than the one who is struggling to get to the level of tranquility. يا ايتها النفس المطمئنة ارجعي الى ربك راضيةً مرضية also Allah mentions النفس اللوامة which is the nafs that is always trying to suppress the sweetness of sin - the nafs that is tranquil (النفس المطمئنة) which does not feel the sweetness of the sin and doesn’t want to sin, but it feels pain when remembering sin/sinning is the best nafs (soul), the next lower level is the nafs that fights or internally struggles to suppress the sweetness of the sin and the excitement of the sin, the lowest of the low nafs is the nafs that orders you to sin. - The servitude that the soul uses to try to suppress the sweetness of the sin may be very difficult, but it does not necessitate from it’s hardship that it means that it is better than the nafs (soul) that doesn’t feel the sweetness of the sin and actually feels pain/hurt when thinking about sinning or actually sinning. The best of deeds is iman in Allah, belief in Allah, but Jihad is more difficult than believing in Allah, yet, it is not better than the belief in Allah. From the signs of Inaabah (turning toward Allah) - To stay away from the people of heedlessness, but you fear for them, fear that Allah may not guide them and you have hope for the mercy of Allah. Ibn Al-Qayyim said, you also have hope that Allah has mercy on those who are heedless and fear that Allah may not accept you, and may accept those who are heedless. i.e. you should not think that you’re better than them or anyone. Abu Adnan “Don’t ever have fake self-righteousness, because it is a disease if you think “I am better” if you grow your beard or go to the mosque or do good deeds. Wallah without the mercy of Allah, you’re nothing.” Also don’t have the idea of “If you’re not a part of my group then you’re inferior” “Self-righteousness can be amongst the group with the people of Haqq who say everyone else is Batil, everyone else is bad if they’re not a part of their gang” People who are like this will be treated like “a disease” by those around them. - What are the problems that come between you and Allah in every action? What are the “thieves” which take away from your action before it reaches Allah? Between the action and the heart is a distance, and there are “highway robbers” on each side. There are highway robbers between your heart and your Lord. These highway robbers are arrogance and liking your actions/showing off, this prevents your actions from reaching Allah. Some of these highway robbers destroy an individual’s heart. Returning in to Allah requires condition, needs 3 things for it to be correct - To give up hope on your actions - To observe your necessities - To see the nature of the kindness of Allah towards you To give up hope on your actions: - Realize the one who gave you the motivation and success to do the actions is Allah, not because of how good you are. - You must also give up hope that your actions will make you successful, only Allah will. Yes, actions are a reason, but Allah gives you the success. Regarding “to observe your necessities” Poem by Ibn Al-Qayyim: Needing Allah always is a characteristic of mine by necessity As richness and power is a necessary, eternal attribute of Allah Regarding recognizing the kindness of Allah toward you: After combining these last 2 points, giving up on relying on your actions, recognize your success and good deeds come only from Allah and you always need Allah, and Allah’s richness and power is eternal, then you will recognize the kindness of Allah toward you.

Inaabah is returning to the truth
Returning to the truth to restore, repair, and correct with confession and submitting excuses to Allah, then start correcting your actions
Fulfill the covenant that you made with Allah when you made Tawbah.
