Honestly the little hints along the way to the true nature of the game were really cool. The signs saying "private property" and "no trespassing", the huge bootprints in the ground, fresh tyre tracks in the ground showing that there are still people around and of course the sun slowly setting when you know your car has broken down and you're practically in the middle of nowhere. The heavy footsteps in the sunflower field were really spooky.
I remember going out to Texas to visit some of my ex's family when we were together back in 2005. The area they lived in looked exactly like this and had about the same creepy vibe to it.
And Ana wouldn't accept that, so she took matters into her own hands and rallied her friends to find Maria. So sad 😭 In my headcanon, Ana and her friends escaped.

Part of me hopes that this isn't definitive canon, and that she might be alive. I think they wanted to add a story to the game, and all 5 of the playable characters dying for her to be the final girl at the end would be a good story.
