  • So I decided to race Stage 3: The Muckle Yin again, this time with the DT Swiss “ARC 1100 DICUT DISC” wheelset. I kept the same frame - S-Works Atheos. Initially, I choose this as it was a light-weight climbing bike, as I didn't have the Scott Addict RC (and not enough drops).. #zwift #indoorcycling #cycling #aero #scotland #stage 3

Welcome to the February ZRacing Monthly Series!
This month we’ll tackle four brand new Scotland routes that have been built for racing. Stages 1, 2, and 4 will also be used during the historic ‘Battle Royale’ 2023 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships on Feb 18! For more info about the pro races and where to watch, head to www.zwift.com/uci-world-champs
Stage 3 kicks off with a new course the "Muckle Yin" which is Scottish for “Big One” and is the longest route in Scotland, taking us around the Highlands loop, over the Sgurr in both directions, and onto the streets of Glasgow.

You should’ve channeled your inner Huddo and went in that last race!

Sorry, I’ve a trademark pending on that. It’s called “doing a Zwifty”. I’m 6 from 6 on that sprint!

I ride this with S-Works tarmac Pro and Milstein wheels, but I'm an anchor at 97 kilos

Ooo, what a sweet way to organise the screens!
Congrats on the podium. I fear you’ve a bit of a bias against the discs if you think you did better in the 2nd race! Tbf, I don’t think much of the difference is in the setup, but I’d advise an all-rounder. I used Addict RC with the discs in 2 of my 3, which is effectively just a tad more aero and a midge heavier than the Tron. I accidentally used the Venge on the third, I finished in the same position for all of them so can’t really say what difference.
It takes a little getting used to to fully exploit the benefits of aero, not pedalling being the main one. Like when I come down that final descent at ~ 1km to go I crest it then don’t go over 1wkg until I’m nearly at the bump, just using the speed and sloppiness to rest up and steel myself for the attack that I know I MUST do to give myself the best chance of winning, even if I don’t feel I’ve got it in the legs. Tell them to shut up, they might just surprise you. It’s amazing what you can find when you’ve a lead off the front.
You should’ve hit the aero earlier here, even though not at top speed, so late was the sprint and the downhill helps, I think you’d have caught them both…

Thanks mate.. yes, I think you are right on both points, aero setup and the PU at the end. The differences in the aero setup are subtle, but worthwhile, if you can (as you point out) exploit them. More practice needed..
