My granddad had a saying, “I’m too poor to buy cheap stuff “. There’s so many cheap options in both knives and guns, it’s tempting to buy the cheapest instead of delaying gratification and saving for the better choice.
Well put. My wife and I learned that lesson early in our marriage. We would buy cheap stuff and end up having to replace it over and over again. There’s nothing wrong with being frugal, but when you end up paying more in the long run it doesn’t make sense. Buy once cry once 😂
Got one of 40 copies of a very limited run of Berg Blades Tick knives, through Reate, with DLC titanium scales and shiny stonewash S90V, with a wicked heat treat and some good bevel geometry. Totally expensive. Totally glad I did it. Came in the mail 2 days ago.
I first got into knives when my buddy gave me a civivi elementum I thought it was awesome. 6 months later I bought a kizer button lock for 100 dollars it sucks and I will never buy any kizer knife again. For 2 year after that I carried a 20 dollar Chinese knife made by ganzo had a knock of axis lock. anything I’ve thrown at it it has worked through, I’ve sharpened it many times and for me, it’s a perfect knife. I just bought a benchmade bugout because as a firefighter now I really waned something I can trust for myself and for the people I encounter. In the past couple weeks that I have been carrying it. It’s no better Than the 20 dollar Chinese knife. That doesn’t mean I’m going to return the bugout but it does mean that to me a knife with the same mechanism/lock that works when I needed to. Is good enough for me no matter the price.
Omg yes! For what ppl pay for streaming services and all kinds of other crap.. cmon man just do the damn thing. James Yeager used to say get rich by working half days.. he meant 12 hours, not 4 you p**** a** b****
I think sometimes a process you through a of buying budget oriented knives to figure out exactly what you like… I’m in that budget phase still but and have slowly figured out what I do and don’t like in my knives. Definitely a cool topic shout out to doody 👍🏼

@@shrillyy1604 I get that. Me personally -I’m not a fan of the bugout, but I’d take a spyderco Manix 2 over a ganzo even if it cost 10x as much.
