Excited. I am a Bsc. Aerospace Engineering graduate, moving to Germany, from Poland for Masters. Its my dream to work for eVTOLs. Looking forward to the first ever productions and commercial flights!

@tiutran2610 aviation went from kittyhawk to the sopwith camel in the time it's took people trying to ride giant batteries and barely getting a minute max to people still trying to ride giant batteries and not even getting a minute. If people can't stay up long in a basic evtol with no extra weight, then there is no way lilium will with a canopy and air conditioning
Just staring to build the conforming prototype now? It is impossible to have this thing certified and in service in 2025, so that is another date that has been pushed back and still missed.
I'm surprised to hear about start of production without any final specs released yet? What is the tested real world performance regarding range, flight times and speed?
To all the people who said it would never happen? Hello! I am personally so excited for this aircraft project to be commercialized! This is probably the closest to Jetsons we're ever going to get in our lifetimes!
I would not say never, but I am highly skeptical Lilium will be able to pull this off. Even if they get ONE example flying, it is going to be a long time before a Lilium jet will be in commercial use.
I've been following Lilium for a few years and am excited to see this continue to move forward. In some capacity, I will have some partnership with Lilium or its infrastructure partners to provide commercial solar energy-powered charging stations to keep these planes up in the air without adding dirty energy power demand to existing power grids.
@@MsUbersoldat So that was a visual simulation, not the real thing? When do you anticipate the Liiium will be available to the public? Have you considered energy devices other than Lithium Batteries?
Yes. A Jet engine is by definition a hot gas internal combustion propulsion engine. An EDF hat not been categorized to be a jet engine. The term "electric jet" existed for a while mostly in the radio controlled model scene. It applies to the type of aircraft (not the engine) which is "usually" powered by a jet engine, but now being EDF powered. The Lilium thing shouldn't actually be called a jet, because this type of aircraft has NEVER been propulsed by jet engines, and likely never will be. So they use the term in a non-technical sense to associate the aircraft with its "jet-like" fans. But technically this aircraft is not a jet. It reminds me of Porsche still calling the top end Taycan a "Turbo". Similiar thing.
a rapid stream of liquid or gas forced out of a small opening. "a high-pressure shower with pulsating jets". I think the term jet has a larger meaning in which a fluid is forced through a smaller enclosed area to create thrust. A ducted fan may fit this definition.
@@jasonclairmonte8638 Jet is velocity of the outlet is much greater than the velocity of the inlet. A ducted fan can not have this without being super inefficient. The introduction of fuel being burnt creates a large volume expansion that a ducted fan will never have.

There is almost no technical information in the video , the message seems to be that we are too big to fail ,in essence ;just look at our magnificent facilities, gee whiz equipment and so on and how many hundreds of millions of US$ are being thrown at us . I have only ever seen basically the same 'test flight' video where it staggers around at quite low speed never doing anything more than flat turns , without passengers (or equivalent load ??) and certainly not demonstrating any power off capability (which is what the certifying authority will want to know as well as customers... Besides that though the ergonomics of the fuselage need to be examined -- there is only one entry and exit door and the interior has a narrow aisle with forward facing seats ; the height is such that you cannot stand up to walk to the seats and turn around to sit down - you will need to be a hunchback to make it to the rear seats (or even the pilot perhaps) and much of the overall width is taken up with the battery packs alongside the cabin walls (not a nice place if spontaneous combustion occuus as they are want to do . the rush for the exit could be a little 'crowded" if so... One thing the video very clearly shows though is that there is NO sunken floor section between the seats to give extra headroom as various other aircraft and vehicles have used , only the young fit and limber will be able to use this thing and boarding will be slow affecting turnaround , not good.

"Prototypes are easy production is hard" - Elon Musk . Interesting that Lilium is outsourcing the production. But probably the equipment is too expensive for a startup at first.
well, this is the case for mass production. This is a very niche product using niche materials that can not be easily manufactured in high volumes. That is why the vw xl-1 which had cfrp composite body was so expensive. That is also why the production is outsourced to somewhere in spain, because labor there is cheaper than in munich. Also, with cfrp, series production will not differ much from prototype production. That is why rocket jeebus is no genius. He likes to generalize a lot of things that can not be easily generalized
Why don't evtol companies prove it can even be done and is possible before manufacturing? Make one that can lift passanger and can carry them a mile or two first before manufacturing. The answer is because its not possible and they are scams.
Do you have any idea how much it costs to raise all the snakes needed for the oil extraction? It's too expensive to raise just a few snakes, you need to do it at scale to be cost effective. Once they get the snake oil farm up and running, all the doubters will be silenced.
@dacat8171 did they show human flight for over minute without editing? There should be a video of it If it happened. Link to the longest manned evtol flight.
Its actually not good to have production so disjointed into many parts in many locations. Thats the old antiquated model that leads to slow production and even slower iteration. the more you place production under one roof, one location the easier and faster to find and solve problems. having engineers of various departments able to quickly communicate with one another in person, able to understand and solve on the fly.
