Britten is quite interesting. What interests me here is the comment that evinces composers like Ginastera and Ravel. My arc in the past 15 minutes is Birtwistle (who to my mind introduces Ginastera and Villa Lobos through a Ferneyhough lens!), then Carters Piano and Winds Quintet (not a piece of Carters that doesn't find it's way through the maze of French Parlor and dry English wit on it's way to radical modernism) and then this piece which is nothing short of brilliant and well nigh modern but written 100 years ago and incorporating Gershwin and salacious moments reminiscent of a snake charmer. An anachronistic commentary but there you have it.
This almost sounds like Ravel or Ginastera or someone much different in style than Britten! How beautiful and amazingly performed. (Re: Heinz Holliger -- I find I only enjoy him in modern pieces :-P)

Grande Britten, lo ascoltai a vent'anni e rimasi fulminato.
Sei il mio mito. Grazie Maestro. Enio Marfoli
i always feel listening to HH this is how the composer wished his work was played
