The Sonata has come a long way since 1989. It's a much better car now. If I were to get an old version, I would look for the 1995 Sonata GLS sedan. Dual airbags and optional antilock brakes. Works for me.
Surprised the top trim Chevy Corsica was so much less expensive than this especially since it was a fairly new model and popular around this time - The Sonata offered a few nice features that I saw in this video though, the main one being the auto down driver window which was an extremely rare feature in the 80's, offering a sunroof at all in this segment was a perk not offered at any price in most competitors, the folding rear seats the rear armrest which could be opened up to provide storage were surprising too.
Honestly I liked better the Hyundais from the early 1990s or even late 1990s early 2000s than today’s Genesis line, or any of those SUVs like the Palisade.
True, but the second gen Sonata looked alright, bland but nice for it's time. It also had great engine options made by Mitsubishi. The highest option for this (the second Gen) was the 3.0 L Sigma V6 engine.
@@bluerazor7049 It was bland until 1991, but with the 1992 facelift (1992-94) when it got the more rounded headlamps, it became one of the best looking mid size sedans available that time in my opinion. Much better looking than the Accord,Camry or Stanza. Only the second gen. Ford Taurus and the newly redesigned 1992 Pontiac Grand Am looked better.
The front looks like the Ford Taurus at the time and the rear looks like a Honda Accord. I love how Hyundai can do theat and get away with it andvstill be a credible and competent car.
I had one of these. What a shit box. The car exhaust smelled of rotten eggs the entire time I owned it. It wasn’t worth anything on trade in. Good riddance, I’ll never buy another Hyundai again.
What year was your Sonata and what engine did it have? Something was seriously wrong with the carburetion/fuel injection system for it to be smelling like rotten eggs all the time.
Wow, you drive a Hyundai You must be doing well in Zambia I live in America I'm sorry, I have a boyfriend But it's a dating app Hallo!!!!!!!!!!! U here

A 89 Toyota Camry could be bought for 12k...... And you still probably would be driving it unless it is from the snow states
my 1st car, A hand me down from my mother in 1997...

@@laszlopalkonyay4133 Like most brands, to be honest.

An '89 Accord was way, way ahead of this in every way. It took Hyundai about 10 more years to be considered average.
I wish that Motorweek would test these cars with automatic transmission instead of manual transmission. Most Americans drive automatics!
My friends Dad had one riding in the back seat it was like the back seat of a old VW Beetle,
I like the Toyota Camray. :)

With no disrespect to anyone, the Hyundai Sonata we see now is a far better car than Toyota Camry…

Have you driven a Hyundai...lately?
@@Timico1000 😂 Catchy
That smell is sulfur. So it was the gas you were using! 😅
A lot of cars from the early catalyst days tend to smell bad, it was a quite common problem.
