I am Chinese. I have been to NZ 23 years now! I came here alone with 25kg travel bag 22 years ago. I finished university here, and now I am a mom with 2 strong boys. Our family loves nz, we are kiwi 🥝 now. ❤️ we love nz people, friendly, kind, open-minded. Nz is our country. I keep telling my boys, we need to do our best to contribute to our country nz. No matter where you boys go in the future, never forget nz raised you and do your duty when nz needs you.
Moved to Auckland from Shanghai eight years ago. In four months, my wife and I will be eligible for our citizenships, just cannot wait! Coming to this awesome country has been the wisest decision in my life.

At my workplace during the 2 minutes silence, one week after the tragedy, we listened to the radio and they played this very version of the national anthem. A few sung, a few cried, but we all stood and bowed to remember all those who died. Never have I been more proud to be a Kiwi.

I like this anthem. It begins with the Maori version (which I don't understand but like listening to) and goes through a key change before moving into the English version. The theme is a universal one, asking a higher power for protection against the evils of corruption, envy and hate. As a people, unity is found through Love.... How that was defined in New Zealand in another matter....

My prayers and thoughts are with the families who lost their loved ones. I used to say I left my heart in New Zealand cause since 2009 I have been visiting her almost every year not only because of her geographical beauty but also because of “the Kiwis”, to me New Zealand is the only country where you able to have a decent conversation and able to get a reply for every single 100 attempts of greeting regardless of color which I wasn’t able to get that in other countries. Only in New Zealand, the westerners (once known as the colonel race) know that, that this country doesn’t belong to them but to everyone, where most of the lands are soon to be given back to the Maoris community (the aboriginal people of New Zealand). I'm swiss but I lived with my parents in NZ for the first 3 years of my life. I don't remember much about that time but this anthem gives me the chills and some kind of sweet sadness crawls around in my heart. Maybe I'm more connected to NZ than I thought. I like this anthem. It begins with the Maori version (which I don't understand but like listening to) and goes through a key change before moving into the English version.
The theme is a universal one, asking a higher power for protection against the evils of corruption, envy and hate.

I used to say I left my heart in New Zealand cause since 2009 I have been visiting her almost every year not only because of her geographical beauty but also because of “the Kiwis”, to me New Zealand is the only country where you able to have a decent conversation and able to get a reply for every single 100 attempts of greeting regardless of color which I wasn’t able to get that in other countries. Only in New Zealand, the westerners (once known as the colonel race) know that, that this country doesn’t belong to them but to everyone, where most of the lands are soon to be given back to the Maoris community (the aboriginal people of New Zealand). I shed tears all the time listening to the beautiful lyrics of New Zealand National Anthem, where you will find lyrics such as "Peace, Not War, shall be our boast, but should foes assail our coast", Put our enemies to flight, and Let our cause be just and right" wishing that one day I can be one of them, “the Kiwis”.
