    Let's hit 1,000 likes so I can do an update on this tank next week as well :) The two products that we owe all the success to is definitely Bee Shrimp Mineral GH+ and Brightwell Shrimp Soil. Check them out here: flipaquatics.com/collections/substrate?ccart=1

    Reverse osmosis water drops down to 6.0 ph with Bee shrimp gh without using buffering substrate. Isnt that too low for crystal red shrimp? Should i use Salty shrimp gh kh? Another questions is, why is my ph under 6 with this product? Shouldnt it be 6.4?

      Inert, porous, cheap, and looks great. I feed Bacter AE and I notice my colony love the lava rocks I have in my tank.

    • @bigfoxki
      @bigfoxki 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattt.8097 I am removing my lava rock because I recall I never have any success in any tank with them. I used to breed CRS like mad without any care, but now the shrimplets just keep disappearing until there is no more left. The adult is fine. I suspect they are leaking some chemical that won't show up in water tester.

    • @mattt.8097
      @mattt.8097 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigfoxki Most pumice is inert. It's possible you might have Tufa which is limestone. To test if the rock is the problem there are some tests that can be done.

    • @mattt.8097
      @mattt.8097 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bigfoxki I have about 10 pounds of lava rock in my tank with fissidens growing from some it. My colony is somewhere between 150-200 without sighted deaths.

    • @bigfoxki
      @bigfoxki 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattt.8097 Mine is black, and they have many shiny area. They are from a Japanese company "Powerhouse", they look completely different from the lava rock I bought in US. Their textures do reassemble the tufa, but they are black. One weird thing is moss only grow on one of them, and my shrimps rarely picking the rock. I am not trying to make reason/excuse for my thought, but even the Yamaya stone got more moss than those lava rock. I will keep updating.
